25.01.2022 Well it has been a hard week for us here at Ahern. Our fourth foal was born last week, at 1 am on Thursday 24th, and yes... Its another filly! That morning was rough and presented hurdle after hurdle, in post-foaling dramas. By the afternoon, our vets had been out and had checked and administered everything they could, leaving us with the recommendation to place the mare and foal in emergency intensive care. So off we went to Canberra Equine Hospital to admit them. After a co...uple of difficult nights, we got the news that they were improving fast, and we were able to visit them on Saturday to see how incredibly well they were both doing. With their status only improving day by day, we were told they would be ready to come home on Wednesday. Words can't describe how much appreciation we have for our local clinic Braidwood Vet Surgery and the team at Canberra Equine Hospital, who saved our latest addition and her dam. Both the mare, Lucinda, and her foal are doing very well and will be returning home to the farm this afternoon. So with that long-overdue introduction, we are excited for you all to meet... Ahern Catherine.

22.01.2022 NEWS FLASH - Benedicta has passed her IGG and we are very happy with that news! She has really started to show off and loves being around people (despite mum's warnings about strangers with candy!) #FoalsofAhern #B2019

20.01.2022 We are still on foal watch with Edwina... so I thought we would share some other exciting news while we continue to wait... We are so excited to announce that Ruby Rose and our maiden Gem have scanned in foal to our stallion McMurchie Ingliston. We are also very excited to announce our maiden Shire mare, Ariana is in foal to Wyee Archer.... We still have a few more pairings to do this season, but we couldn't be prouder so far!

20.01.2022 We have had 2 successful pairings so far this season. Gem and Edwina have both scanned in foal to our stallion Ingliston. Mac is already the proud dad of 3 girls this year with another foal still to drop! We still have 3 other mares to scan, but are not quite at the 21day mark.... Stay tuned for updates!

19.01.2022 Sone of the horses exploring.... They are loving the new property! Walked 10 kms today, and only saw a smidge of it. The south coastal ecosystem in the forested parts is unbelievable! New slice of heaven!

17.01.2022 ~ They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.... Lest we Forget... ~

17.01.2022 Some new growth on burnt trees

16.01.2022 Such a lovely day, about to shift some horses around into the rye paddocks. Ingliston saying hello!

15.01.2022 On Saturday 25th October, we were finally introduced to our last foal of the 2020 season. We haven't posted with celebration until now, as it's been another hard one for us this past couple of weeks. Ebony foaled down at 12.15am that Sunday, and by 4am, we knew the foal would need to go to emergency care. After a few vet calls and some tubing to get as much hydration in as possible, we loaded them up and sped off to Camden Equine Centre. Needless to say it's been a tough time..., but we are so lucky to have mare and foal with us back at home after a long week and a half away. Both did extremely well with the sudden change in environment, and are now enjoying being home within ear and eyeshot of the other mares and foals. Ebony is a fantastic and patient mother, and for an ordeal like what they had to go through, we can't shower her with enough attention to show our gratitude. The foal is very special too and holds a loving place in our hearts, and for the first time in our breeding program..... Is a Colt! Introducing the dazzling and handsome mischief maker... Ahern Cerberus

14.01.2022 New paddock feels...

14.01.2022 And then... there were two! We have been blessed with another filly, out of our maiden mare Gem. She arrived on Sunday evening, a little before her due date but not by much. Gem struggled with delivery and we had to step in to help her through a bit of it - both mare and foal are doing well. Introducing Ahern Calpurnia...

13.01.2022 Wonderful to have another AEB Garland commissioned for a great show!

13.01.2022 Charlotte is enjoying the vacation abroad with mum Ruby Rose. Ruby is out and about to go in foal for next season.

13.01.2022 And then there were three! What a whirlwind it's been over the past few days... At 5am yesterday morning we were woken by the foal alarm going off. As Ariana was meant to be due on the 13th, we thought she was just enjoying a nap or having a roll, but the alarm persisted... so off we went to check. And there she was, in the paddock, with a beautiful little foal raring to go and already attempting to get up to have a drink. ... This foal for us is a bit special, as Ariana was the very first heavy horse we bought, it was Ariana who started our love of showing and breeding, and we continue to thank her for this whole adventure. This newest addition is fiery, fun, and also a filly! Introducing Ahern Cersei

12.01.2022 Edwina and Benedicta are out in paddock now! She is testing her legs and loving it! She's a little firecracker

10.01.2022 Catherine is loving being out in the big paddock with her dam Lucinda, her sister Calpurnia, and our nanny-mare Cassie. All doing well and loving the rain and shine!

09.01.2022 Introducing our newest addition... Oscarville Skye. We are so grateful to Paul & Lisa Cooper of Oscarville Clydesdales for giving us the incredible opportunity to own this stunning filly. As only a weanling, she's already made her mark as Reserve Champion Female - All Australian Clydesdale, in the latest SHBA Show. We are excited to have her as an addition to our foundation herd and show team.

08.01.2022 HAPPY FATHERS DAY! Hope all my sire mates and the human dads alike are having a great day! From McMurchie "Mac" Ingliston Mac sends his very best to all the dads out and about enjoying the day with their families, he's chilling at home with some extra special feed today.... He's a very proud dad this season, with two of his foals still to yet arrive!

07.01.2022 Our heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who has been calling and messaging us over the past few weeks to check if the horses and us are safe. For so many of us in Australia, we are faced with unprecedented seasonal activity, with no immediate end in sight. Although our primary property has fires on both its western and eastern sides, it remains untouched... however we have unfortunately lost 90% of the bushland on our second property, luckily containment held against the op...en paddocks, gullies and flats.... We are beyond grateful to the rfs, volunteers and neighbouring properties for helping us during this time and getting in strong containment lines and backburn before the property was consumed. I want to give a very special thanks to my husband, Matt, who while I was in Perth trying to get home, demonstrated how patient a horseman he truly is, evacuating all the horses from the affected property, with the help of Christine & Greg, in near zero visibility as the fire spread across our property towards them. For the moment we are safe, sending a new years wish out to all out friends and family, hoping you are all safe too.

07.01.2022 Ahern Benedicta.... such a spirited filly

05.01.2022 Well..... We weren't anticipating posting this early, but we welcomed our first foal of the season this morning at 3am. We awoke to the foal alarm, expecting to find our maiden mare Gem foaling down, who is due on Tuesday... instead, there was our mare Ruby Rose in the midst of foaling 2 weeks early. Needless to say we were quite surprised, as she had not milk tested positive, so we only had her stabled as a calming companion. She clearly decided to steal the thunder and in n...o more than 15minutes flat, we were meeting our newest foal - a beautiful Bay Filly. World meet Ahern Charlotte.... Charlotte meet World...

04.01.2022 It's been a pretty shocking year... But things are easing and most importantly, it's almost foaling season, which will be a welcome reprieve from all the madness that's been going on!! We thought now is a perfect time to start sharing some photos, to celebrate us having almost totally settled into the new farm... Still gotta build the new stables though! ***Ahern Lady Alexis - born 2018***

03.01.2022 Well finally!!! 3+ weeks over but Edwina has foaled. At 3.27 this morning, we awoke to the sound of the foal alarm, and off we rushed into the foaling paddock. By 3.30 we welcomed a new member into the Ahern family. Ahern Benedicta - named after her two great-grandsires (from Dam) Collessie Benedictine and Dillars Benedictine.... Mother and foal doing very well - more pictures to come!

02.01.2022 We are ready and excited to receive new orders once show season can start back in full again.
