15.01.2022 Public parks and playgrounds to re-open in South Australia Local councils have been important partners in our fight against COVID-19. In the early stages of... the pandemic, a number of councils closed parks and playgrounds, which was appropriate at the time, although there was no specific requirement to do so. Now that we have low levels of cases and there is no current evidence of community transmission in South Australia, it is safe to enjoy these public facilities again. The risk of COVID-19 transmission from outdoor parks, playgrounds and equipment is low and can be managed by following social distancing and hygiene precautions. SA Health recommends parks, playgrounds and skate parks can re-open with signage reinforcing: Social distancing (keeping 1.5 metres from others) Size of gathering (should be 10 or less at any time) Information about hygiene requirements. SA Health also recommends councils clean playgrounds and equipment regularly. SA Health is also recommending increasing cleaning and disinfection of public amenities (e.g. public toilets).

14.01.2022 The last patient recovering from COVID-19 in South Australia has been given a guard of honour as he left the Royal Adelaide Hospital today. Paul contracted the ...disease on the Ruby Princess and became so ill that he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and put into an induced coma and on a ventilator for about four weeks. He is in good spirits now and very thankful for the care he received. Paul is still recovering and will now be receiving care closer to home at Modbury Hospital. We wish him all the best in his recovery

13.01.2022 17 August 2020 Indonesian Independence Day Indonesian Independence Day (Hari Kemerdekaan) is a national holiday celebrated on 17 August to... commemorate the anniversary of Indonesia’s Proclamation of Independence on 17 August 1945. Australia and Indonesia have had strong links even before European settlement from the 1700s to early 1900s expeditions of seamen from Sulawesi would travel to Australia’s northern coast, trading their catch with the local Indigenous people. Indonesia is often presented as one of Australia's most important neighbours and strategic allies, with formal diplomatic relations between the two nations marking a 70-year milestone in January 2020 this year. Australia and Indonesia share geography, deep historical ties, a vibrant contemporary relationship and a vision of a peaceful and prosperous region," Prime Minister Morrison said. Gary Quinlan, Australia's Ambassador to Indonesia, also declared at the 70th bilateral milestone told the Jakarta Foreign Correspondents Club the deep ties between the nations dated back to 1945, when Australia became the "strongest supporter" of Indonesian independence and was the first country to send a diplomatic mission to establish the basis for recognition of the Republic. We are fortunate to have an active Indonesian community in South Australia. The Premier of South Australia, the Hon. Steven Marshall MP, and I would like to thank all the community leaders and volunteers from the wonderful Indonesian community in South Australia for their ongoing contributions to our society and economy and for generously sharing their diverse culture through festival and cultural events. It’s vast cultural diversity comes from the fact that Indonesia consists of more than seventeen thousand islands and is the world's largest island country. While the COVID-19 pandemic is posing challenges for many large celebrations to take place this year, we wish all community leaders, volunteers and our friends in the Indonesian community a very happy and safe Independence Day of Indonesia ! Hon. Steven Marshall MP Premier of South Australia Hon. Jing Lee MLC Assistant Minister to the Premier

12.01.2022 14 days of no new COVID-19 cases! Great work South Australia. We don't want any new cases here, so it's really important that we don't become complacent. There ...is still a risk of new cases from travellers arriving from other states and territories. So let’s not undo all the good. Continue playing your part to help stop the spread: Keep practising good hygiene. Stay 1.5 metres apart wherever and whenever you can. Download the COVIDSafe app.

07.01.2022 From today, Friday 22 May 2020, dining can be offered indoors and outdoors by restaurants and cafes. However, to do so, they must: have a maximum of 20 patr...ons at any time: 10 indoor and 10 outdoor (regardless of how many dining areas/spaces there are) limit the number of people on site to 1 person per 4 square metres observe and encourage physical distancing (1.5 metres rule) They should also: minimise use of shared equipment maintain and encourage good hygiene (offer hand sanitiser) ensure frequent environmental disinfection cleaning of the premises implement signage/markings to support compliance by staff and patrons review aspects of their business that may increase the risk of transmission; ensure that any period of closure has not caused non-compliance with food safety standards The South Australia Transition Committee are going to work with industry associations to develop an approach which is going to be flexible and workable for more operators at Step 2 which comes into effect from 5 June.

02.01.2022 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a critical resource that is in very high demand across South Australia, as it is in other health care systems around the ...world. Right now, it is vital that our frontline staff have priority access to PPE. There is very little evidence supporting the widespread use of face masks in healthy people to prevent transmission in public. Face masks are effective when worn by someone who is ill with COVID-19. If you have the virus, or think that you might, you must self-isolate, and wear a mask when you are near other people (such as seeking medical attention). To stop the spread, it’s better to: Practice social distancing (staying 1.5m away from others) Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds Cover coughs and sneezes Minimise touching your face Stay home if you’re unwell Learn more: www.stopthespread.sa.gov.au

01.01.2022 Additional precautions are in place to keep our older Australians safe. Measures include prohibiting certain visitors and staff from attending Aged Care Fac...ilities and placing restrictions on everyone else. It is also important to note that residents who leave a residential aged care facility for a reason unrelated to medical or dental treatment will also not be permitted to return to the facility. This will help prevent the spread COVID-19, especially to our more vulnerable community members. Learn more about aged care facility visitation in South Australia: https://bit.ly/3e0HWBf
