18.01.2022 'ITS LOCO' HK Monaro done and dusted! This neat streeter is currently being built by Steven Kruik of Kruik Customs, in Brisbane. It’s got all the good gear; an LSA conversion, Weld V-Series wheels and a neat custom radiator support, as well as some neat custom ‘LSA’ badges to replace the factory ‘327’ units. And the Parchment pearl vinyl just looks killer against the factory blue This entire project has been a massive undertaking; the way I've approached it has really chall...enged me to develop new skills and refine my existing ones, too. Starting with a pre-existing 3D model of a HK Monaro, some things weren't up to my standards and deviated from factory considerably, so I remodelled the exterior panels myself, leading me down a 3-week-long learning journey in hard surface polygonal modelling. Parts such as the bonnet, guard vents, cowl vents, rear quarter panels and C-pillars have been massively challenging, but so worth it. I’m now totally confident in being able to model hard surfaces on vehicles for my 3D renderings, opening up a whole new set of skills and abilities to apply to future projects. 15.01.2022 Here's a really cool project I completed last week with Darren for #VQ37EHTT, one of the coolest EH builds ever! Darren supplied me with a quality CAD model of the cluster assembly for his EH, and a really clear brief of what he wanted for the tick mark positioning, icons and text. After trialling a few different ideas, fonts and layouts, here's what we came up with! It's now off to Dakota Digital for them to design and make a one-off. ... 08.01.2022 #renderingtoreality: Milan’s killer LJ by ProFlo Performance unveiled last weekend at Summernats 33. I worked with Paul (owner of ProFlo) on the stripe and overall colour scheme of the build, combining a couple of stripe ideas to form the stripe Paul had in mind. From that basic stripe, I then produced a range of variations of that stripe, ensuring that we had a great range of ideas to choose from. We then tested a select few of those stripes on both black and grey rendering...s of the car, to decide on the final stripe and colour scheme for the build as pictured, beautifully executed by Danny and his team at Custom Bodyworks. A massive thank you to Paul and his team for the opportunity to play a small part in such an epic build! 07.01.2022 My first 3D printed part! This technology is astonishing. Within less than an hour, the CAD model for this part was completed, and set to 3D print overnight. Now, we have a functional prototype of this custom part on a VERY exciting build that I’m currently working on with the team at Pat’s Pro Resto’s. My clients and I are really happy with how efficient this process is, from sketch to prototype in less than 24 hours. Now we can test fit, modify and refine again before this... final part is manufactured! A massive thank you to all my peers for their guidance throughout this process. Here's what I'd like to see it come out as: full carbon fibre body, killer pro-touring stance, Cerakote everything, massive brakes and some HRE S104s wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. Heavily inspired by Speedkore's Charger builds, it reminds me a lot of the old HARDHT build from years ago . This was a super quick, rough personal project to push my skills but I'm so stoked with the outcome.... They’re also fully enclosed at the back, making them much less susceptible to cracking and chipping like the factory units, and 3D printed in durable PETG plastic, very flexible compared to the stock ABS part, and resistant to chipping on the front edge too. These will come up perfect with a light sand, plastic prime and paint! Pricing: -$50 per pair (raw 3D printed finish) plus $5 postage -$120 per pair sanded, primed and colour coded to factory VB-VL interior colours plus $5 postage.
