24.01.2022 Zoom busting security concerns Everyone knows that 6 months is a lifetime in technology. So how is it that people still think that a security issue with Zoom meetings 5 months ago hasn’t been fixed? 1. Do you know what the original security issue was? Well, with COVID-19 lockdowns, an extra 2.2 million new users were signing up to Zoom each month. By February 2020, 12.92 million people were conferencing via Zoom and, very basically, many people held meetings that could be e...ntered without a password. Now you might think, that seems a bit weird, and you’re right. It is. Even your social media accounts require password access. Am I right? 2. So Zoom undertook immediate action and fixed the initial problem within days (by requiring passwords to access meetings). They have also been open and honest about additional security concerns detected and embraced with ongoing major security reforms. 3. Now Zoom is better and safer than ever. The proactive approach taken by Zoom has resulted in mandatory passwords to join meetings, AES 256 GCM encryption and a whole bunch of extra security options. Zoom also allows participants to join from a browser rather than installing software. 4. When you join an AIRSAFE virtual class you will require a meeting ID and password. You will enter a waiting room whilst your ID is authenticated. Once all participants are admitted then the session is locked. This ensures that no one is admitted without permission from the AIRSAFE team. There is no file sharing or participant screen sharing through Zoom. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are the go to document when determining safe handling, storage and transport of potentially hazardous and/or dangerous materials. But how recent do they need to be? Well AIRSAFE Transport Training can help with that.... AIRSAFE Transport Training have placed references to this information on our website that can be accessed at; https://www.airsafe.com.au/road-rail-storage-links Under the heading of "Useful GHS Links", reporting information on "When should you update or revise you SDS..?", and "Global GHS Implementation 2020 including links to different country requirements"

21.01.2022 Call out to all air operators transporting Covid vaccines with Dry Ice (Yes, we’re talking about Covid again!) Because many Covid-19 vaccines require deep refrigeration they are being transported with large quantities of dry ice (CO). This may pose some issues with those in the logistics chain handling such shipments. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA has released an explanatory document which provides a handy insight into the hazards that dry ice pose...s and considerations that need to be made is you’re in the chain. The document is aimed predominantly at the air operators/airlines but has useful info for us, ground-based folk, as well. Find it on the Airsafe website at the following location and enjoy! The document is called: Covid-19 large qty CO2 - FAA info.pdf and can be found at https://www.airsafe.com.au/downloads-resources, or https://www.airsafe.com.au/air-links, or open directly from https://training.airsafe.com.au//Covid-19%20large%20qty%20 See more

16.01.2022 CASA Helping Industry with DG Refresher flexibility, during the COVID-19 crisis. The team at the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) have acted swiftly to help industry stay compliant with Australian legislation requiring aviation personnel to maintain certain types of training, including DG training. Changing legislation and obtaining exemptions is usually a seriously lengthy process requiring months, if not years, of industry consultation, discussions and dra...fting with legal teams and subsequent justifications and amendments (all of this being so exciting that I can tell you’ve dozed off already). However, our CASA reps saw the impending Covid-19 Cluster on the horizon and have worked hard to rush through an exemption (CASA EX57/20) part of which provides relief to Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) 92.095, 92.100, 92.105, 92.115 and 92.120 that require dangerous goods training to be conducted every two years. Under Section 11 or the Exemption, people requiring DG Refresher training have a three month extension to 30 June 2020 to the usual two year training period. Additional allowances are made for organizations with Safety Management Systems and a CASA Approved Safety Plan For the Safety Risk Management Plan Form: https://www.casa.gov.au//safety-risk-mitigation-plan-submi If you have any further questions regarding the application of this exemption to you and your organisation, please contact your oversighting Dangerous Goods Inspector on 131 757, or via email to [email protected] . 16.01.2022 Just another day at the Airsafe office

16.01.2022 It’s business as usual at Airsafe. As the world spirals out of control, Airsafe is you’re always reliable constant. So if you’re booked on a Airsafe course then it will be running as planned. But just to assure you that we’ve taken extra precautions to ensure your safety and comfort whilst you’re with us. We have toilet paper (no seriously), antibacterial hand wash, extra cleansing of surfaces, and if you’re still feeling stressed you can visit with Mischa the therapy dog.

15.01.2022 Airsafe unboxes comfort for your training Everyone loves unboxing new stuff (there are even youtube channels devoted to it). Especially when the unboxing is of four, very cool, new Vari standing desks for Airsafe guests to enjoy in our training room. You can see that Mischa was particularly excited about the arrival and impressed with the quality (and taste) of the packaging.... We understand that, particularly if you back problems, sitting for long periods can be uncomfortable. And pain is distracting. That’s why we’ve invested in standing desks which will allow you to change the height of your desk from seated, to standing, and back again (to give your pins a rest). This will help you concentrate on your course and our fascinating instructors . So now you’ll be able to reserve a standing desk when you book your next course at our Belmont training facility. But numbers are limited so give us as much notice as possible. Stay safe and healthy From the Airsafe team

10.01.2022 IMDG2020 Code release date delayed! Guess what? This blog is not about Covid! Hahahaha - Only joking, of course it is! ... Now I know that everyone gets as excited as we do when there’s a new release of DG transport Regulations, but. The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) meeting that approves the Resolution amending the IMDG, which results in the issue of a new Code, was delayed from April 2020 to November 2020 due to you guessed it. Covid-19. So the IMDG going to print has been delayed and IMDG2020 will now go to print some time in 2021 (so it may actually be called IMDG2021???? Go figure???) IMO procedures require 18 months between the Resolution being approved before the Code can become mandatory. Therefore the IMO have delayed the mandatory implementation of the new IMDG Code until May 2022. So will the new Code be called IMDG2020, or IMDG 2021, and when will it be available?? Well your guess is as good as mine. But the good news is that your existing IMDG 2018, and consequently your current DG qualification, is now valid until at least the end of April 2022. Is everyone thoroughly confused? I know I am!

10.01.2022 AIRSAFE... Wishing you a Safe and Merry Christmas for 2020 and a Happy New Year for 2021.
