25.01.2022 We are rolling out our campaign following Labors delay of a vote on the WA Airsoft Bill introduced by Aaron Stonehouse MLC. We would like to thank Mr. Rick Mazza from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party for his support for the Bill and trying to bring Labor back in line. Please also offer your appreciation to Mr. Mazza at:... - [email protected]; - 9481 6070; or - https://www.facebook.com/rick.mazza.77 The video is an extract from todays debate: https://youtu.be/hzzacy9OpSw

25.01.2022 We understand that Labor MPs started responding to your emails expressing their concerns and position on the WA Airsoft Bill. Can you please share these responses in the comments section below? This will allow us to understand their concerns and advance our lobbying efforts. Without such knowledge, we cannot proceed. To date, the Western Australia Airsoft Club, the sports representative body, has not received any official response from Government regarding their position on the WA Airsoft Bill or any concerns they may have.

25.01.2022 We understand that our lobbying campaign is effective. We need to keep it up. The weekend is perfect for writing emails and messages to Labor MPs (both Upper and Lower House. Heres how to do it: https://www.facebook.com/124913831031004/posts/1330101840512191/?d=n

24.01.2022 A big thank you to the WA Nationals for today announcing their support for my Airsoft Bill So far, thats: WA Liberals... WA Nationals WA Labor Keep up those [polite] phone calls and emails!

23.01.2022 7 days left untill the Airsoft Bill is debated. You only have today, tomorrow and Monday to reach your Labor MP over the phone before they start the Parliament sitting days. Please start calling their offices NOW! Full details below:... https://www.facebook.com/124913831031004/posts/1328730760649299/

23.01.2022 Part of the recent reform (https://minister.homeaffairs.gov.au//firearms-reforms-to-p) on the Federal Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 we've been invited to provide a submission for the sport of Airsoft. For those that are not aware, the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 is the only legislation that bans Airsoft in Australia. There is no specific State / Territory legislation on Airsoft. We've provided our submission and asked for the following chan...ges: 1. Change in terminology: Airsoft devices, instead of soft air rifles / handguns; 2. Treatment of Airsoft devices as imitations instead of firearms; 3. Mandatory coloration on importation (i.e. orange barrel tip); 4. The same importation test applied to all Airsoft devices, regardless of appearance and /or functioning; 5. Introduction of a new importation certification test to facilitate red tape reduction; 6. Subsequent low-level changes to facilitate implementation of the above proposal. Please feel free to lobby your Liberal Senator / Federal MP so that the changes we asked for actually get implemented. The full submission can be found at the link below: https://drive.google.com//1nvXtYKDOf4FzmKtT0JFrFoSUj/view

23.01.2022 At todays meeting with WA Police we were advised that as we were speaking Government was taking decisions on how to regulate Gel Blasters in WA. There are many similarities between the sport of Airsoft and Gel Blasters (Gelsoft). Furthermore, whatever regulations the WA Government enacts for Gel Blasters will also affect future Airsoft legislation in WA. We are also aware that a significant number of our followers and club members are gel blaster / Gelsoft players and would ...not like their sport negatively affected. From what we know Government has not consulted with the players. Would you like the Western Australia Airsoft Club Inc. to represent your interests with the WA Government regarding future legislation on Gel Blasters? We do not foresee this additional activity impacting our Airsoft lobbying efforts, however we are certain its outcome will make our future success easier or more difficult. So far we have achieved unprecedented results in legalising Airsoft to any other organisation, in the 23 years since it was banned. Therefore we are confident we can do the same for Gel Blasters in Western Australia.

22.01.2022 WA Airsoft Bill debate takes place tomorrow at 10:15. You can watch it live at the link below. So far the Nationals, Liberal Party and the Western Australian Party have announced their support for the Bill. We have no idea what Labor will do tomorrow. This is rather disappointing given all the consultation that has taken places over the past 3 years both from our side, Aaron Stonehouse MLCs side and all the phone calls and emails youve been sending over the past week target...ing Labor MPs. We would like to thank you all for your support. Youve demonstrated that you are capable of fighting for what you want (I.e. being able to play Airsoft in WA). Lets just hope Labor cares about its constituents and no nasty surprises await us tomorrow. https://www.parliament.wa.gov.au/WebC/webcms.nsf/watch-live

22.01.2022 Please share. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWfpApXk2nY

21.01.2022 Labor still has not announced their position of the Airsoft Bill. Please keep phoning them and ask them not to filibuster.Labor still has not announced their position of the Airsoft Bill. Please keep phoning them and ask them not to filibuster.

20.01.2022 In case you recently noticed a change on our website, we will soon be posting a video explaining it all, as well as making the legal advice on gel blasters available. https://airsoftwa.com.au/

20.01.2022 Great article in the Kalgoorlie Miner regarding the WA Airsoft Bill introduced by Aaron Stonehouse MLCs (Liberal Democrats). Thank you, Peter Rundle MLA (WA Nationals) for your support. Please also offer your appreciation to Mr. Rundle at:... - [email protected]; - 9071 6555; or - Peter Rundle MLA. See more

20.01.2022 Battle stations everyone!!! We essentially have two working days left to convince Labor to vote "Yes" on the WA Airsoft Bill. Cabinet and the Labor party will have a meeting on Tuesday to decide whether to support the Bill or not. The criticality comes from the fact that if Labor does not make their mind up now to support the Bill, Aaron Stonehouse MLC will only have another opportunity to debate the Bill again for at least another year. Thats when he would have his next tur...n. Please PHONE, EMAIL and MESSAGE the Upper House Labor MPS as per the instructions below: https://www.facebook.com/124913831031004/posts/1328730760649299/ If you have done that already (or in addition to that) do the same for your Local (Lower House) Labor MPs (they also have a say in the partys position on the Bill at the Tuesday meeting). Of importance, apart from asking them to support the WA Airsoft Bill is to indicate the timing criticality (i.e. if they dont vote "Yes" for the Bill now) there will definitely be no action for at least one year. You can advise them you would be very disappointed in them if they stall for time during the debate (filibuster is the term). The Minister for Police and WA Police have had the Bill for over 7-8 months to review and ask for amendments, in addition the the previous years when they have been consulted. 1. To find your Lower House electorate: https://www.boundaries.wa.gov.au/elect/find-your-electorate 2. To find the contact details of your Lower House MP: https://www.parliament.wa.gov.au//screenLAMembersElectorate 3. PHONE, EMAIL and MESSAGE them.

20.01.2022 Part 3 of the interview with two of the most prominent European Airsoft lobbying professionals. This video covers: - Airsoft lobbying challenges; - Airsoft regulations; and... - Appearance risk (coloration). https://youtu.be/5FMK1euxBWY

20.01.2022 Today WA Police advised one of our members that gel blasters are not firearms. Two weeks ago they advised us they are firearms. We wonder what the advice will be next week. We re-emphasised our request to meet with the Minister for Police specifically after receiving this conflicting advice from WA Police over a period of only a fortnight. Hopefully this time she accepts as our initial request has not been answered almost three months since it was sent. The legal advice we have contracted will further clarify this situation.

19.01.2022 An update on the WA Airsoft Bill. https://youtu.be/NVc8jURrFIg

19.01.2022 We're currently reviewing the legal advice on Gel Blasters you have helped us obtain. The first good news is that Gel Blasters are not firearms in the State of Victoria! Below is a recent court ruling on the matter: https://drive.google.com//1bNUCWsReWOcsTS8n3eM1ZlWun/view... Please share this with your friends from Victoria!

18.01.2022 Thank you for sharing the responses you received from your Labor MPs. We notice variability between them and are unsure of Governments position on the WA Airsoft Bill or what concerns Labor may have. This makes it difficult to continue our lobbying efforts. Therefore, we wrote to the Minister for Police asking for Governments official position on the Bill, the sport of Airsoft and any concerns they may have that would prevent them from supporting the Bill and the sport of A...irsoft in WA. We have made previous similar requests to the Minister for Police, which have mostly failed. Hopefully she replies to this one. Thank you for your continued support of our activities!

18.01.2022 Part of addressing the concerns Labor raised we have prepared a video on how the WA Airsoft Bill differs from the Law Reform Commission recommendations. Please feel free to tag in your local Labor MP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duyO5swP9w8

18.01.2022 It appears that Charles Smith MLC will support the Airsoft Bill. Thank you very much.

18.01.2022 Aaron Stonehouse MLC advised us that the debate for the WA Airsoft Bill will take place next week, on the 14th May. He also advises us that Government still has not reached a position on the Bill (I.e. if they will support it or not). We can all help by contacting our local Labor MPs from the Legislative Council to ask them to vote in favour of the Bill.... If the Government doesnt reach a position on the Bill, theyll likely just speak long enough to prevent a vote from taking place. This is whats known as a filibuster. If that happens, Aaron wont be able to re-visit the Bill until his next allocation of business, which wont be until when and if he is elected for a second term of parliament.

17.01.2022 Repost from yesterday - this post was meant to go live today. Apologies. Time to put the current COVID-19 situation into perspective and understand its likely impacts on the WA Airsoft Bill. Six months after the WA Airsoft Bill was introduced, Government (i.e. the Minister for Police) still has not decided on whether to support the Airsoft Bill, nor expressed any opinion about it. Both the Minister and WA Police were consulted and aware of the objectives / contents of the Bil...l well in advance of its introduction to Parliament. If Airsoft was a very low priority for Government before, now with the COVID-19 situation it has probably reached close to NIL priority. We understand that these are difficult, unprecedented times, however Life Goes On. Or so it should if we all want to come out quicker and in a decent position out of all this. The COVID-19 situation will keep Government occupied for at least six months, and elections are planned for March 2020. Unfortunately, no one can guarantee that Aaron Stonehouse will get re-elected. If Aaron is not elected and / or the Liberal Democrats do not win seats in the upcoming election, it is likely that there will be no future for the WA Airsoft Bill, or it will be heavily delayed. This means we need to take all reasonable steps to get the Bill passed as soon as possible. And the only roadblock / delay to that is the Minister for Police. This is simply because the Firearms Act is her portfolio. We will soon be providing instruction on how to lobby her. WE NEED YOU ALL FOR THIS !!! (unless you dont care about Airsoft)

17.01.2022 Great news! The quote from the lawyer came in and it is 2,000 AUD cheaper. That means we only need 2,255 AUD more. Thank you for your support!... gf.me/u/y4kgu8

17.01.2022 Following numerous lobbying efforts undertaken by the Club and Aaron Stonehouse MLC, we've been invited by Hon. Jason Wood MP, Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs to attend the next Firearm Community Consultation Meeting on the 15th September 2020, where the sport of Airsoft is on the agenda. The Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 which currently ban Airsoft in Australia are within Mr. Wood's portfolio. This is a massive succe...ss as the sport of Airsoft will be benefiting from a second look (hopefully unbiased), 23 years after it was first banned. Whatever changes are made to the Customs Regulations will benefit the whole of Australia, not only WA. Whether you live in the constituency of La Trobe, Victoria or not, please send your appreciation to Hon. Jason Wood MP ([email protected]). Thank you, Hon. Jason Wood MP.

16.01.2022 We wrote a letter today to the Minister for Police requesting a meeting to represent the interests of the gel ball / gel blaster players and enthusiasts in Western Australia regarding the upcoming regulatory changes. In order to secure that meeting and also have a strong position in the following negotiations we need your support. We will start by targeting Labor Upper House Members of Parliament. Heres what you need to do (3 simple steps):...Continue reading

16.01.2022 If you are going gel balling this weekend, please realise that the WA industry and community could develop so much more and more players, fields and shops could establish. But for this we need your help. If you would like to be going gel balling over the weekend but are afraid of the potential legal implications of such an endeavour, we could potentially open this gate for you, however we need your help. And all of this will also help bringing Airsoft to WA as the gel blaster...s are 95% identical to Airsoft devices. gf.me/u/y4kgu8

15.01.2022 A massive thank you to Hamish for his support! You are amazing! Thank you for helping us all!

15.01.2022 Summary of todays debate of the WA Airsoft Bill in Parliament. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnzJCSuGXPs

15.01.2022 Apparently this passionate speach did not stop the Qld Gel Blasters Bill from passing. Although it may be a dissapointment for many gel blaster enthusiasts, we consider this a positive towards our Airsoft lobbying efforts. Gel blasters (of similar appearance and functioning to Airsoft markers) are classified as imitations, not firearms. Furthermore the legislation requires a "genuine reason" (being part of an incorporated association or not), however there is no prior test a...pplied (I.e. police involvment / firearms licences). You can read the full Bill here: https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au///CorrectiveServices2020

14.01.2022 We had a meeting today with WA Police aimed at understanding their concerns regarding the WA Airsoft Bill and establishing our future working relationship.

14.01.2022 Ever wondered how Airsoft and Paintball stack up? Despite the greater popularity of Airsoft, our Government still seems to oppose it. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore

14.01.2022 As previously advised, after six months since the introduction of the Airsoft Bill to parliament, Government still has not expressed their opinion on the Bill. The roadblock is the Minister of Police and her office. Both her and WA Police have been advised, lobbied and consulted by the Club and Aaron Stonehouse MLC several times over the past 3 years. We need to lobby her if we want Airsoft in WA. It seems that our petition of 2,400 signatures didnt mean much, as neither did... writing to your local MPs. This is our last stumbling block! WE MUST TAKE ACTION NOW !!! Please express your feelings about the delay and ask Hon. Michelle Roberts MLA for her position on the WA Airsoft Bill. Her email is: [email protected]

13.01.2022 Aaron Stonehouse MLC recently posted an FAQ regarding the WA Airsoft Bill and its future progress. Very informative and it answers many questions weve also been receiving from you: https://www.goairsoft.com.au/faq

13.01.2022 An email has been sent to our registered club members regarding the upcoming AGM on the 20th August 2020. Should you wish to financially support our activities, have a say in the Clubs decisions as well as find out of our past and future activities (more than we share on social media) please consider becoming a registered member: https://airsoftwa.com.au/members/

13.01.2022 South Australia has just classified gel blasters as firearms, Queensland classifies them as toys, WA Police calls them firearms, however returns them to the owners or loses / withdraws criminal court charges of genuine sport participants. With such confusion the WA gel ball industry cannot grow and the sport participants are at risk of criminal charges. We require your support to obtain legal advice and further the sport of gel ball and Airsoft in Western Australia.... 11.01.2022 We are addressing some of the concerns raised by Government relating to the WA Airsoft Bill. One of these concerns is the Federal Importation Regulations. Any positive changes we are able to make at the Federal level will benefit all States and Territories in their own efforts of legalising Airsoft, as well as the WA Airsoft Bill. Attached is a letter of support from WA Liberal Senator Linda Reynolds. In case you are wondering what the appearance-based controls are, so are we. We do not know, however this is quite a significant step forward.

11.01.2022 Following your suggestions we have established a Discord channel for improved consultation and communication. Registered club members, please join now and request access to the members only area (instructions provided in the Welcome area). We will have an extraordinary general meeting in a week's time and we want to use Discord to discuss the matter we will bring to your attention beforehand, as well as use the platform to conduct the meeting. https://discord.gg/khMBJUftXp

10.01.2022 Tomorrow Labor decides whether they will support the WA Airsoft Bill, delay it or vote against it. This is our last chance for at least one year to make any progress in legalising Airsoft in WA. Please call the offices of your Labor MPs and transmit the following message. You will unlikely be able to talk to the actual MP, however leave the message to the assistant that answers your call and ask for it to be passed on:... 1. You want them to support the WA Airsoft Bill at the Party caucus meeting on Tuesday (tomorrow) and at the debate and vote on Thursday; 2. The Liberal Party has advised their support for the Bill 6 months ago; 3. You would be very disappointed in the Labor party if they stall for time during the debate so a vote cannot be made as the Minister for Police and WA Police have had the Bill for 7-8 months, have been consulted for years and they made no comments so far. Same goes for minor amendments. 4. The earliest the Bill would be able to be debated again would be in one years time. To do this: 1. Find your electorate: http://www.boundaries.wa.gov.au/electo/find-your-electorate 2. Find the phone number of your Lower House Labor MP (if you have one, otherwise dont bother): https://www.parliament.wa.gov.au//memblis/WebCurrentMembLA 3. Find the phone number of your Upper House Labor MP: https://www.parliament.wa.gov.au//memblis/WebCurrentMembLC 4. CALL THEM, CALL THEM, CALL THEM !!!

08.01.2022 The Airsoft Bill is being debated in Parliament Thursday, 14th May (8 days away). This is our only chance for at least one year to advance the legalisation of Airsoft in WA!!! We ask all of you to PHONE, EMAIL AND MESSAGE your local Labor MPs (all of them from your electorate). What you want to tell them is that you are a great enthusiast of the sport of Airsoft and you want them voting "YES" for the WA Airsoft Bill, debated by Aaron Stonehouse on Thursday, 14th May. For this...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Toady we attended the Federal Firearms Community Consultation meeting organised by Jason Wood MP. We provided a brief overview of the sport and Senator Bridget McKenzie, VIC expressed her support for the sport of Airsoft. Together with the other stakeholders in the meeting we have been invited to make a submission for the amendment of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956. Assistant Minister Jason Wood MP is looking at amending the regulations towards the end of t...he year or early 2021. We asked if the submissions are limited to the participants that attended the meeting or are open to all interested parties. If we receive a positive response, or the invitation is made publically available we shall let you all know. We are celebrating the great success we have had today and are hoping for great outcomes to soon eventuate for the entire Australian Airsoft community!

05.01.2022 We kindly need help from a practicing legal professional. Weve been unsuccessfully trying for a while to track down a court case and would truly appreciate your help as it can assist our future lobbying efforts. The case we are looking for was ruled in March 2003 by Mr Wheeler, stipendiary magistrate of the Fremantle court, that paintball guns fell outside the definition of a firearm as provided in the Firearms Act 1973 and as such, in his opinion, a paintball gun was not a ...firearm. We contacted the Court and submitted a Freedom of Information request with WA Police, however without success. Thank you for your help.

04.01.2022 Following numerous lobbying efforts undertaken by the Club and Aaron Stonehouse MLC, weve been invited by Hon. Woods portfolio.

03.01.2022 As you can all imagine there are certain things we cannot share / talk about on social media. And on this occasion there are quite a few such activities we cant openly talk about. Should you wish to find out more and get further confidence in our efforts towards bringing the sport you love to WA, please consider becoming a registered member. Your financial support will be dearly required in the near future. The Annual General Meeting is scheduled for the 20th August, where w...e will be talking about some of our plans and we will be responding to any questions you may have. https://airsoftwa.com.au/members/

02.01.2022 In case you also recently stumbled across the 9news article regarding gel blasters in South Australia, we would like to remind you that currently gel blasters are classified in Western Australia as firearms, unable to be legally possessed as there are no provisions to licence one under the Firearms Act (see attached response received this morning from WA Police Firearms Branch). The good news, however is that we are in contact with the Minister for Police to lobby on behalf of the gel blaster owners and sport enthusiasts of WA. Any success had with gel blasters in WA will most definitely benefit our Airsoft lobbying efforts. https://www.9news.com.au//5c570891-5e97-439e-a9e1-84643057
