22.01.2022 Read in our latest news how Energy Queensland (Energex and Ergon Energy) has expanded its apprenticeship model. Recently they took on four AITC young people in school-based apprenticeships. After two years of work experience placements and ongoing feedback and support, the AITC school-based apprenticeship model is now part of the Energy Queensland recruitment process. #apprenticeship #careerchoices #tradeschool #careerdevelopment #storiesthatmatter https://www.aitc.qld.edu.au//energy-queensland-adopts-new/
22.01.2022 If you have ever lived with a teenager, you will most likely know they have a very unique relationship with sleep. Dareen Kavanagh at the Sunshine Coast campus recently assigned students a numeracy project with a focus on the effect that sleep quality and quantity have on teenagers. Teachers at the AITC, like Dareen, are always looking for ways to integrate real-world and job readiness skills into lessons and assignments. This project was no exception.

21.01.2022 Read how Riviera Boats has worked with the Australian Industry Trade College for the past six years in the apprentice program. Adam Houlahan, Safety, Training and Recruitment Manager of Riviera Australia says he heard about the AITC’s trade ready students who want to get into a trade field, who want to work with their hands, and who want to work in our industry" and felt this partnership would be the perfect fit. The AITC told us about the type of young people they have working there. They talked to us about the type of families who come to the AITC and we basically said ‘We want these people!’. https://www.aitc.qld.edu.au//luxury-yacht-export-industry/

13.01.2022 AITC Toowoomba’s Olivia Zavone impressed local employers so much that she was offered two baking positions, and had an additional offer for an animal grooming apprenticeship on the way. I was offered two positions at the same time, said Olivia. I decided to take the one at Brumby’s after taking some time to think about it. The qualification I am completing is in baking and pastry making, so I will get to work with breads as well. Olivia will work at Brumby’s around half the year until her graduation, after which she will commence full-time employment.

Substation33 is a YFS social enterprise that opened its doors in 2013 as an electronic waste recycling centre. More recently, Substation33 has started an Innovation Lab, providing an opportunity for upcycling and e-waste diversion from landfill. One of the initiatives Substation33 has implemented includes rebuilding computers from parts and selling them for $100 each to families who cant afford new machines.

01.01.2022 "My father is a Licensed Domestic Builder and owns his own business, so I went to a lot of worksites and was around the tools of the trade very young. Being on site was something I really enjoyed, so I thought why not pursue a career in Carpentry? From there I started my trade at 22. My time in the trade has been widely diverse working on six-story apartments and small renovations on residential houses." Read more about Stefanie's story on Tradeswomen Australia
01.01.2022 What was that video at Roof Shout all about? Watch it again below. At the AITC, giving back is in our DNA. To not only be industry leaders but to also make a difference in the world. COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the Siem Reap economy, due to the immediate suspension of international tourism several months ago.... Every two years, AITC young people, employers and staff use their technical talents to improve the lives of critically poor families in Cambodia by building homes and repairing the New Hope school. But with international travel suspended, we need to help in other ways. We have hope. We have a plan. We have a goal. All will be revealed in Term 4. We just need you to say Im in. #AITCImIn
01.01.2022 Will you give up your daily coffee for a week or two? The pandemic has altered the pace, fabric and nature of our lives but in Australia, we are the lucky ones. As a College, we have a goal to raise $20,000 and we are asking our generous community to give what they can and say I’m in. Please donate here - https://www.aitc.qld.edu.au/im-in/... All funds raised on behalf of New Hope Cambodia.
