25.01.2022 Congratulations to Will Maguire for his sign up! Will tried out Cabinetmaking and Carpentry before deciding that Electrotechnology was where his trade preference lay. He completed work experience with a couple of electrical employers before finding his fit with Nick from Oleada Electrical. Nick and Will hit it off well and it is clear that Will has a bright future with the team at Oleada. Congratulations again and well done Will and Nick!

23.01.2022 Our year 12 VET Micro Business project is well underway! The young people were tasked with coming up with a business, creating flyers and placing them throughout the campus (they go quite creative on where they were put!) They then had to sell to everyone on campus and the profit from their businesses going to New Hope in Cambodia.... Today we have Toasties and Bacon n Egg Burgers! Check back tomorrow for the next round of Micro Businesses.
22.01.2022 Congratulations to Jake on getting signed up as an Apprentice Carpenter with Pacific Palms Constructions. Jake had previously been doing work experience in the Electrical industry but recently had an opportunity to work with the family construction business and found that he enjoyed it. He was exposed to a range of work that gave him the opportunity to diversify his skills and he has now been offered an apprenticeship with the company. Jake is now set to add value to the family business. Well done Jake and the team at Pacific Palms Construction.
22.01.2022 Each year, one Year 12 young person is selected to receive the Alan Kiefer scholarship presented by BUSSQand Skylight Financial Solutions. Alan Kiefer was a financial planner with Skylight Financial Solutions from 2013 until he passed away in May of 2018. Alan was always a positive influence to those around him, living by the idea that there was always good to be found, even in the worst of situations. We are very excited to announce this years sucessful candidates from the Gold Coast, Redlands, and Sunshine Coast campuses.

Brock has worked hard and has received very positive feedback throughout his work experience placements. After only a week back out on the job in this industry block, Shaun from Fuse Contracting offered him a position as an apprentice electrician. Well done Brock!
21.01.2022 Congratulations to Jacob on his sign up as a Wall and Floor Tiler with Prestige Bathrooms and Tiling. Jacob was very excited for his placement at Prestige. Jacob impressed the employer in a short amount of time with his "can do" attitude and his willingness to give anything a go. Well done!

Every group did a fantastic job this week, raising over $700 for New Hope, a school in Cambodia, who will distribute the money raised to families in need. 21.01.2022 Congratulations Joshua on securing a plumbing apprenticeship with Sam the Plumber! A long serving plumber in the region, Sam has seen his fair share of young people that have not been able maintain the level of performance required of a plumbing apprentice. Testament to Joshua’s capabilities, he proved his worth. Sam was impressed with Joshua’s reliability, enthusiasm and resilience over the several months of work experience before offering this apprenticeship. Well done Josh in achieving this result and in doing so displaying the values of the AITC.
20.01.2022 Congratulations to Nathan Swenson on his sign up as an Apprentice Carpenter with Ruan and the team at Vanstone Constructions! Ruan recently reached out to the industry team seeking an apprentice for Vanstone constructions and they specifically asked for Nathan, after hearing from another builder in the industry that Nathan had been a stand out on some work experience earlier in the year. Nathan completed 4 weeks of work experience and Ruan knew that Nathan was the exact fit they needed in the team and quickly offered Nathan the opportunity. Nathan loves the job and the team he works with and is looking forward to the future ahead with Ruan and the team at Vanstone constructions. Congratulations again Nathan!

18.01.2022 Congratulations Lachlan on his school-based apprenticeship as a chef with Oats & Sky! Through word of mouth it was discovered that Oats and Sky were seeking an apprentice and after speaking with the owner, it was clear the AITC could provide the perfect young person to fill this role. Lachlan presented himself as the ideal candidate, showing an interest in hospitality after experimenting with different industries. Lachlan performed a 6 week work experience block, and showed all the promise and enthusiasm of a great chef. At the end of the work experience block Lachlan was asked if he would like to come back as an apprentice, an offer he was delighted to accept. Well done Lachlan and thank you to Oats and Sky for your passion in training and developing the next generation.
18.01.2022 Congratulations to Ben on his school-based apprenticeship as a carpenter with Novaba PTY LTD. To achieve this outcome required an incredible amount of determination, commitment and hard work. Ben would travel for hours every day to do work experience with Steve from Novaba, showing up for work on time, every day. Steve was quick to notice the lengths Ben would take to make it to work every day, he could see that if Ben applied the same level of determination to his trade, he would one day become a fine tradesman. Well done Ben and thank you Steve for your continued mentorship.

13.01.2022 THANKS to the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services’ (QFES) for the Road Attitudes and Action Planning (RAAP) presentation. It is designed as a preventative strategy to provide information to young people about road safety so that they can make an informed decision to mitigate risks and consequences by planning ahead. RAAP is presented in the school environment by operational firefighters who have experience with the trauma involved with vehicle crashes.

Jayde has been completing work experience with ESL Locksmith Professionals over the last industry block and found a real love for locksmithing. The team at ESL locksmiths found Jaydes positive attitude and eagerness to learn were just what they were looking for and knew she would be an excellent addition to the team! The locksmithing industry is always looking to add females to the industry and Jayde is excited about her future as an apprentice locksmith. Congratulations again, Jayde!

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Niall on gaining an Electrical Apprenticeship with All Areas Electrical Services. Niall has worked hard towards finding an opportunity, doing night placements and very early starts and never complaining about the distance he had to travel for a placement. He has had consistently great feedback from employers and a couple of offers along the way. Niall had a vision for what he wanted to do and has strived to attain it. Brent from All Areas Elec could see that Niall was a good fit for his team so decided to sign him up straight away. Well done Niall and Brent.

Ben started work experience with Shine back in March of this year, and while he completed work experience with other engineering firms, he returned to Shine in June, where his skills and development on the job continued to grow. Ben has shown enough growth and potential to be part of the team at Shine Precision. Mike and Ian from Shine are excited to have Ben on board, and look forward to mentoring Ben into the future.

This workshop, supports classroom learning as part of a broader program, provides students with the tools, habits and motivation to take action and stay safe on our roads, throughout their lives, as both drivers and passengers. 08.01.2022 Congratulations Barney for securing a position with SCG Electrical as an Apprentice Electrician. Barney has had a number of placements with this company, has always received excellent feedback from Stephan and was considered a good fit for the team from the outset. He has worked consistently to gain this opportunity and his hard work paid off when Stephan offered him an apprenticeship on his first day back with the company this block. COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the Siem Reap economy, due to the immediate suspension of international tourism several months ago.... Every two years, AITC young people, employers and staff use their technical talents to improve the lives of critically poor families in Cambodia by building homes and repairing the New Hope school. But with international travel suspended, we need to help in other ways. We have hope. We have a plan. We have a goal. All will be revealed in Term 4. We just need you to say Im in. #AITCImIn

This was a special sign-up for both Jack and Yates Plumbing, as the sign-up today was a complete surprise to Jack. When Jack went out for his first stint of work experience with Yates, he fit in well with the team, and Daniel from Yates knew he would be the next addition to the team. Daniel asked the AITC to keep the sign up a secret and surprise Jack with a celebration involving the whole Yates team, Jacks mum, and BUSY At Work. Well done Jack!
03.01.2022 Congratulations Connor on your plumbing apprenticeship with Brisbane Taps, Toilets and Drains! In his time with AITC, Connor has remained steadfast in his desire for a plumbing apprenticeship. This determination was complimented by his high level of employability that was consistently reported by all his work experience supervisors. This was reflected in the feedback that Brisbane Taps, Toilets and Drains gave Connor after his work experience, commending him on his enthusiasm, knowledge and initiative. As soon as the opportunity arose, Brisbane Taps Toilets and Drains did not hesitate to contact Connor to offer him an apprenticeship. Well done Connor in representing the college to the highest standard and thank you Brisbane Taps, Toilets and Drains for seeing the value in our young people.
