12.01.2022 If you are going to be in Adelaide on March 11, you wont want to miss the Australia Japan Associations commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Five years on, the people in East Japan are getting back to a fairly normal existence, even though nothing will be the same again. We are hoping that this event will give some kind of closure after five years, as we learn from several special guests, Kyoko Katayama, Mayumi Kako and David & Fumie Barnett, who have strong links with Tohokou, and will share their experiences. This event will be held at the North Adelaide Community Centre, 196 Tynte Street, North Adelaide. The gathering will begin at 6.30pm, and there will be some light refreshments provided partway through the evening. Mayumi will play koto and Sergio Palacio some taiko to set the mood.
