25.01.2022 A question please for yesterday's Finalists .... Two of the competitor showbags contained a pretty awesome random prize - a $500 Gift Voucher to the Australian Equine Behavioural Centre, very generously donated by the Abrahams Family. We'd love to know who got them? ... If you haven't double checked, please look amongst the paperwork in your bag. The Gift Certificates are A5 sized, and laminated. A reminder also that each of the 25 Finalists from yesterday will receive a personalised Alabar HERO Series Saddle Blanket as a part of their prize pack. Thanks so much.

24.01.2022 Attached are the scheduled Shows which comprise part one of the 2018/2019 Alabar HERO Series. These shows fall at the conclusion of the 2017/18 VAS season. A list of Alabar HERO Series Qualifiers for the new show season will be published as soon as available.... For Standardbred competitors heading to this weekend's Rochester Show (Saturday, February 24, not 23 as listed), please note:- 1) The rider age limit for the Alabar HERO Series is now 12 years and over. 2) Colts/stallions are no longer permitted to contest qualifiers, which is in line with VAS Regulations for the Saddle Horse Championships where the Alabar HERO Series Final is staged.

16.01.2022 VAS has currently received 18 entries for the 2019 Alabar HERO Series Final. If you have qualified but not completed your entry, there is a small window but yo...u need to do so urgently. Remember there is $1000 in prizemoney on offer for the Overall Winner, and $500 for both Runner-up and Best Newcomer. There is also a new $500 prize for Owner/Rider this year, and the winner of the Child's Ridden Standardbred receives a wildcard entry into the Alabar HERO Series Final if not already qualified. 14.01.2022 The Victorian Tradesmans & Delivery Horse Group will hold its annual two-day show at the Heathcote Showgrounds on November 24 & 25. HERO is proud to support thi...s event and we thank the Group for scheduling a full Standardbred Program, incorporating led, ridden and harness sections, on the Saturday morning, commencing at 9.30am. Entry is just $5.00 per class on the day. However, anyone wishing to camp needs to book and pay for stabling in advance. 06.01.2022 A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Barastoc Horse of the Year 2018 HRV HERO Lennytheshark Standardbred Ring at Werribee Park National Equestrian Cen...tre on Sunday. The full results are attached, with thanks to Maree Lund who was an invaluable support both in the lead-up to, and on the day of the event (Maree volunteered her time as this was not a SPPHAV Show). We would also like to acknowledge SPPHAV's assistance in ensuring full insurance coverage for all competitors and Barastoc Horse of the Year Committee for the opportunity to showcase Standardbreds on this important stage. Our sincere appreciation to the Riseley Family for sponsoring the day under the banner of their wonderful pacer Lennytheshark; to Computer Sashes for our ribbons; Shiranna Garlands for the beautiful Supreme trophies; Olya Tutova of 42beats for her amazing photography; our judge Vicki Filippin who provided wonderful feedback to the competitors; and ring steward Katherine Mangidis who did a sterling job. Finally, thank you to Harness Racing Victoria and the State Government via Racing Minister Martin Pakula & the Victorian Racing Industry Fund for their ongoing support of the HERO Program.
