09.01.2022 Aboriginal art fills the VAC Gallery. The Southern Aboriginal Corporation event in November 1998 was the first local Noongar art exhibition at the Vancouver Arts Centre. Since then, workshops and exhibitions have given many Noongar artists the opportunity to develop skills and exhibit and sell their work. 05.01.2022 Community Banner Project 1992 In February and March 1992, the VAC was humming with the designing, cutting, and sewing of fabric for 26 colourful banners. Thirty volunteers, including Alice Wimbush pictured here, worked with artist Chris Williamson to make the banners which were hung in York Street in April 1992.
