Thank you to our volunteers who set up, pulled down the lights and worked 7 days a week for 6 months to make this event such a success

22.01.2022 WALK FOR AWARENESS 2020 October 4th is the first day of Mental Health Awareness Week 2020 and we invite you to join the Albany Community Foundation and headspace Albany to kick off the week with a walk to raise awareness for mental health in our community. THIS ISN'T A RACE!... When you sign up you have the choice of two distances, 5km or 10km, then its up to you how you complete the distance. You can walk, scoot, skate or ride then when you reach Eyre Park enjoy the family friendly entertainment, sausage sizzle and collect your participant pack. Pets are welcome, so long as they are on a lead at all times. The amazing team from Albany Limousines & Charters will be running a FREE shuttle bus service from the finish line back Emu Point so you don't have to double the distance. 18.01.2022 Look what's coming to Albany. Cycling without Age (Google it) This is a world wide program and we are very excited to be a part of it. It will give people who are unable to get out the opportunity to feel the wind in their air and enjoy our many bike paths. This program will be totally free for people to enjoy and will be run by volunteers. We are now looking for people who would like to be a driving pilot or maybe be on our committee.... 17.01.2022 Thank you to Boston Brewery Co Denmark for the yummy risotto cooked by Bridget, amazingly scrumptious pulled port and those huge handmade burgers to die for. All eaten up last night at Breakfast in the Park. Everyone's eyes lit up at the huge feast before them.

16.01.2022 Expression of Interest for Board Positions - Secretary and Treasurer Two board members will be finishing their terms at the end of the year and the Board considers that it will be a good opportunity to do an expressions of interest for the roles of Treasurer and Secretary prior to the AGM at the end of the season. Undertaking this process earlier will allow for a prolonged handover so that the transition is as smooth as possible, and no knowledge is lost. Below is an outline... of the relevant skills required for each role. The Treasurer role requires expertise and experience in the field of financial management and accounting. Individuals with bookkeeping experience are also encouraged to discuss how their skills may apply. The Secretary role requires administration experience, including the ability to accurately prepare meeting agendas, minute meetings and distribute emails. More generally, both roles also require the following: The ability to think and act strategically, ensuring plans and outcomes contribute to LGSHA priorities. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships with people at all levels within and outside the team. Both positions play a vital part in driving the future direction of the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association. The Hon Mick Murray MLA, Minister for Volunteering, announced the opening of nominations for the WA Volunteer Service Awards on International Volunteer Day, Saturday 5 December, continuing to raise awareness of the important contributions of volunteers. Volunteers provide a strength and connectio...n for our communities that enables individual, family and community wellbeing. The Department of Communities wishes to promote and celebrate the dedication of Western Australia’s volunteers by raising awareness of the integral role of volunteers among the community. The WA Volunteer Service Awards program recognises Western Australian volunteers who have provided 25 years or more of voluntary service with the same organisation, and in 2021, will also acknowledge those volunteers who have served across multiple organisations, providing enduring commitment to our state. 06.01.2022 Breakfast in the Park is cancelled this evening in the community garden, Humphrey Street Lockyer and tomorrow outside the Old Gaol due to wild gusty weather. This morning at our breakfast at Spencer Park we lost our awning so we are out of action for the rest of the week. Our apologies. We will be back up and running next week.
