25.01.2022 Some good information on the new Veterans Discount Card scheme from RSL NSW and DVA that was mentioned during last night's General Meeting

25.01.2022 An initiative of the Australian War Memorial to register local community war memorials. Please add any that you know of, thankyou

24.01.2022 Our General Meeting was held last night, including voting to fill the casual vacancy created by the Secretaries resignation. One of our committed volunteers stepped up, and was subsequently voted in as our new Secretary. Andrew Horne has taken up the position and is committed to working with Peter and the rest of the Executive to get a handle on his new position. Andrew is a long-time member of various RSL's within the area and comes to us with extensive Army experience. We welcome him and look forward to working with him as we begin preparing for our future.

24.01.2022 Lest we forget.

23.01.2022 "The memorial that we are unveiling today is dedicated to all of the sailors, soldiers and airmen that served in WWI."

22.01.2022 Unfortunately our Sub Branch Secretary Peter Ellis has made the decision to resign as Secretary. Peter is busy with IVES and will continue to provide the Sub Branch with advocacy advice as well as contribute as a Service Member and Committee Member. We would like to thank Peter for his service and look forward to his assistance in the future. The casual vacancy that is created by this will be filled by nominations and a vote during the General Meeting next week. Members are encouraged to consider joining the Sub Branch Executive and to help steer our Sub Branch in the future.

22.01.2022 The drought is impacting all of us and veterans can seek financial assistance through the RSL to get through this tough time.

21.01.2022 We are once again impressed by the local communities support of our Remembrance Day commemorative service. We would like to thank the Albion Park Community, Esteemed Guests and Sub Branch members for making this service what it was. Thankyou also to 26 Army Cadet Unit - Wollongong for their Cataflaque Party and 338 City Of Shellharbour Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets for their continued support of our Sub Branch. Photos from today can be found at: https://albionparkrsl.o...rg.au/gallery-remembrance-day-2018/ We remember them, We will never forget.

18.01.2022 Our members are hard at work fixing up our memorial wall and cenotaph for Remembrance Day. These changes are being made to make our wreath laying services safer. Thankful for our volunteers and their hard work.

18.01.2022 Late last year our members voted to authorise the purchase of another 50 chairs for use during our commemorative events. Today with the help of Bunnings Shellharbour our committee members purchased them and they are now safe at the club. These chairs will allow us to expand the seating available for the public during our services and will hopefully enhance their experience. Thankyou to those involved and we look forward to seeing them in use this ANZAC Sunday.

17.01.2022 Our Treasurer was honoured to attend the Albion Park High School Remembrance Day service today. The service was followed up by a tour of the Albion Park High School Library to view all of the dioramas and artworks created by the Year 9 History students that supplemented those placed at the club yesterday. Some very insightful pieces of art and we are pleased that the sacrifices of sailors, soldiers and airmen in the past are not forgotten by the current generation. We remember them, We will never forget.

17.01.2022 Former RSL NSW President Don Rowe charged by NSW police with fraud.

16.01.2022 As our delegates prepare to attend the Extraordinary General Meeting tomorrow in Sydney, here is an interview with the RSL NSW President outlining what it is all about and why it is so important.

15.01.2022 Our new WWI Lighthorse Memorial was unveiled on ANZAC Sunday. The concreting of a pathway has now been completed and we can now proudly announce that the project is fully completed. Many thanks to the local community and tradespeople for supporting us and we look forward to the opportunity to secure more funding and work together again on the next project, whatever that may be. Thanks

15.01.2022 Thankyou to Albion Park High School for assisting us in commemorating Remembrance Day by providing these fantastic dioramas and pieces of art. It is very much appreciated and our members and the community remarked on there high quality and the hard work that must have gone into them. We look forward to your Remembrance service today. Well done.

14.01.2022 Mood Park Lighthorse Memorial and Commemorative Activities

13.01.2022 The Albion Park RSL Sub Branch held our 75th Anniversary Dinner on Saturday night. Quite an achievement for a small group of volunteers to persist through all conflicts over a long period of time. Mateship is our central tenant, and it is with the support of the local community in Albion Park that we can continue to support ex-serving members and their families, particularly with community engagement and welfare activities. Thankyou to the Albion Park RSL Memorial Club for as...sisting us with the night and ongoing support, President of CSDC (RSL NSW) Lee Cordner, to Deputy Mayor, Councillor John Murray from Shellharbour City Council for attending and ongoing support for our memorials and gardens, Woonona/Bulli RSL sub-Branch, Dapto-Port Kembla RSL Sub-Branch and Warilla RSL Sub Branch for attending to support us and remind us of the positive spirit of the larger Illawarra Community. Enjoyable company to celebrate a significant milestone for us, and we look forward to continuing to serve the local community and to support our comrades and their families. The full gallery for the night can be found on our website at: https://albionparkrsl.org.au/gallery-75th-anniversary/ If anyone that attended want to add to it please email us your photos to: [email protected] Thankyou

12.01.2022 In the lead up to Remembrance Day it is important for us to remember why we pause to acknowledge the sacrifices of so many sailors, soldiers, airmen, merchant sailors and citizens to give us our freedoms. Lest we forget.

12.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all and thank you to our volunteers for another great year. We look forward to next year, and pause to think of those from the ADF that are currently serving away from their families in Australia and overseas. Thank you

11.01.2022 Our October newsletter is in the mail and is available on our website. https://albionparkrsl.org.au/newsletter-edition-62-october/ Members are encouraged to read through it as many changes are being drafted in the new constitution and our Executive have provided an update on what this means for us. Most of the changes are to align the Constitution with law and legislation, but Sub Branches and members are needed to provide input to State Branch on how we implement the requir...ements. Thanks

09.01.2022 Thank you to those that served, their families and friends that supported them and the public that recognise the sacrifices made by those that served in The Vietnam War. We are thankful that you all gave service to your country and further perpetuated the ANZAC legend.

09.01.2022 If you cannot join us for our Remembrance Day service today, please take the time to mark the 11th minute, of the 11th Hour, of the 11th Day, of the 11th Month with a moment or minutes silence. We must remember those that gave us the freedoms we enjoy today, and thank those alive today that are still suffering due to their service. We remember them. We will never forget.

07.01.2022 Our March newsletter is now available at: https://albionparkrsl.org.au/newsletter-edition-60-march-2/ Members should receive theirs in the mail soon, please check the ANZAC Sunday and ANZAC Day information as there have been some changes to the transport procedures for this year. Thanks

03.01.2022 Thankyou once again to the local community Albion Park, New South Wales, Australia and Shellharbour for supporting our Sub Branch throughout last year. The turnout to all of our commemorative events has been great, and some hard work by our volunteers has ensured that the services were completed to remember those who have gone before us. We are honoured to have so many people join us in commemoration, and it shines a bright light on the Illawarra and its citizens and proves that the ANZAC Spirit is very much alive.
