24.01.2022 Celebrating Spring in Kinder As part of our Wellbeing program in Kinder we like to celebrate each season and think about what we feel grateful for in each part of the year. With the arrival of Spring the Kinder community celebrated by bringing in flowers from home (or Grandma’s) for a Kinder Fruit Salad day. Kinder Pear Nihan’s sisters Nikita and Nishita from 5/6J, and mum Priya joined us to lead us in creating two ‘athapootalams’ or floral carpets. Each Kinder student participated in the creation of these beautiful Spring celebrations. Mrs McMinn joined us and was asked to place the final central flower. Thank you to the Sudhesh family for helping us to celebrate the arrival of Spring in our community.

23.01.2022 Our Kinder Apples would like to thank Miss Mansfield for creating yet another inspiring dramatic play centre in their classroom. We are so lucky in our school to be supported by Teacher Assistants with such creativity. Miss Mansfield always makes our classrooms look so beautiful. The Kinder children are loving role playing in the Apple Tree Farm.

21.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who supported our Save the Tassie Devil fundraiser today. We raised a massive $700!!! That will buy a tracker for one devil and some enclosure fencing and will make a difference to the fate of the Tassie Devils. What a fabulous way to end the term. Congratulations to Lara, Lily and Marcus for organising the fundraiser.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Sophia Khan, who was announced today as the National Winner of the Whitlam Institute What Matters? Writing competition for Grades 5/6. In May this year, Sophia, along with a dozen classmates and 4000 other students from around Australia, put pen to paper to write an entry for the Whitlam Institute What Matters? Writing competition. Inspired by Gough Whitlam's commitment to involving young people in the shaping of Australia, this competition asks students ...in years 5 to 12 a simple question: What Matters? The link below will take you to Sophia’s entry, and that of other finalists. The quality of the writing and the passion and commitment to a diverse range of local, national and global issues inspires confidence in the future. Well done to all the young people who entered with special congratulations to Sophia! https://www.whitlam.org/what-matters-2020-finalists

17.01.2022 This term in Prep to Grade 2 we have had a focus on procedural texts and how they are organised when we write them. Teachers have used real experiences such as building Humpty Dumpty a wall, Little Miss Muffet a tuffet, making raisin toast or fairy bread and tying shoelaces to build up student knowledge about the features of this text type. Students have been particularly excited about the opportunity to make and eat things and know that for a procedural text they need a title, a list of what they need and numbered steps showing what they do.

14.01.2022 Wombat Stew comes to Kinder A group of talented actors from 4/5 Williams visited the Kinder Pears to perform ‘Wombat Stew’. The Pears were entranced by the dynamic, amusing performance of a favourite story of ours. After the performance the Pears showed the actors around our room. We have been learning about Wombat Stew and all things to do with Australian animals this term, so it was exciting to show the performers our campsite, our Science Table, our graph of our favourite Australian animals and our Wombat Stew work. Thank you so much to Drama Teacher Ally for her work toward such a wonderful performance.
