24.01.2022 Changing government isnt going to do it. Changing laws isnt going to do it. Fining companies isnt going to do it. Im convinced that the only way we can face this crisis is by taking responsibility for our own actions, our own family, our own space. What is your impact on the planet? How could you do better? Governments and organisations are too big and clunky to change quick enough. And they wont until the market (us as individuals) shows them they must to stay in the g...ame. Save the planet, start with your own backyard #permaculturedesign

24.01.2022 In this interview we start by acknowledging the broken and unhealthy state of meat consumption. We also go in depth about the environmental impacts, issues surrounding animal welfare, and the health problems of an imbalanced diet. Meredith then explains how a healthy and reverent relationship to animals and all their products could look like through real examples of ecological management of livestock systems, mindful slaughter, home butchery methods, and preservation through curing, fermentation and cooking. https://podcasts.apple.com//abundant-edge-pe/id1199230234

23.01.2022 So Ive stopped growing veg. For a bit, at least. I realised I was spending heaps of time tending to my veg plots but getting disappointing results. The reasons: 1. my infrastructure was being ignored in favour of my annuals. I didnt have proper, passive elements in place to make growing easier and less time consuming. Especially water elements. So now Im focusing on directing water, passive irrigation and cycling grey water 2. Ive spread too far too fast (the garden, but also my waist ) I dont have the time or energy to maintain the area Ive started. Pull it in people, do one thing well before you go commiting to a huge area Every day is a school day! Whats your biggest garden lesson this summer?

20.01.2022 The soil on the left is the result of regenerative agriculture. Sheep and cattle were carefully managed and rotated on the land. They ate the grass, deposited t...heir urine and dung and were then moved away to let the grass grow back quickly. The cycle is then repeated at a later date. This allows the pulling of carbon into the soil. It is darker because carbon from the atmosphere (and more organic matter) is now in the soil. The soil on the right is from the neighbours farm (where the corners of the paddocks meet) but only regular grazing methods were used there (animals were kept in one area). The soil with more carbon holds a lot more water (roughly 150,000 liters of water per hectare for every 1% of carbon thats added) and is full of microbes. Whether we eat them or not, carefully managed animals play a crucial role in regenerating the land and getting carbon into the soil. We can also grow grains, vegetables and many other crops using Regenerative practices that improve the quality of the soil. #regenerativeagriculture #theregeneration @savoryinstitute

08.01.2022 This is the permaculture flower. Each petal represents one of the seven areas where permaculture helps us to take action. There is so much in the flower that he...lps guide our actions in this #covid pandemic. The best part is that these are things that are good to do anyway, like meeting our neighbours and growing some of our food. How prepared are you feeling? And what things are you doing to feel more prepared in the face of the #coronavirus? #permacultureillustrator #covid_19 #permaculture

07.01.2022 This is a collection of really simple and effective methods to get a garden started (or to boost an existing one). Thanks Our Permaculture Life: Morag Gamble

05.01.2022 Thinking about food security? Me too! And everyone else, given the state of the shelves at the shops. Not to mention the selling out of seedlings, chickens, and seeds. -NEW OFFER: BASIC PERMACULTURE DESIGN FOR TIMES OF CRISIS- COST= $150 OR whatever you can pay.... Were also open to trades in stuff, time, and skills, Why? It occurs to me that while one household growing food is good, a neighborhood growing food is better. Particularly a neighborhood that knows and supports each other already. We are lucky enough to have that here already in the Mountains. Lets add growing food to the list of things we do together It starts with good planning This is where permaculture design comes in. A personalised design for your place can be the thing that helps you succeed in growing food for your family, and helps a community work well together for success. Well address the fundamentals for self-sufficiency: -rain water collection -protein sources -veg production -soil care -waste cycling for fertility Well answer these questions: -where should I put what? -How can I make this easy? -How can I get a lot of food from a small space? -How can I get a lot of food with little time expended? -But Im not a gardener, where do I start? 1 ONLINE CONSULTATIONS - to ascertain where youre at and where you want to be for food production 2. HAND DRAWN DESIGN - delivered digitally and in the mail 3. EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES - to help you gain the skills and knowledge to get you where you want to be 4. A COMMUNITY PLAN - so we can all become more connected and skilled around this issue So the next time the sh*t hits the fan, we will all have food out the back and neighbours to lean on. 05.01.2022 Cant go wrong with flowers!

04.01.2022 The only way to avoid the risks of this scenario is what the report describes as akin in scale to the World War II emergency mobilizationbut this time focused on rapidly building out a zero-emissions industrial system to set in train the restoration of a safe climate.

04.01.2022 Access is the new ownership! I highly recommend these guys for all your tool needs.

04.01.2022 Here are some of the projects weve been getting our teeth into at home. Focusing on growing veg, protein, and capturing water. What are your projects while youre home more??

03.01.2022 The biggest changes for residents and businesses in the affected areas are: You can only use a watering can or bucket to water your garden before 10am and after 4pm. You can only use drip irrigation or smart watering systems for a maximum of 15 minutes a day per watering zone, before 10am and after 4pm.... You can only top up an existing pool or spa, using a hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, watering can or bucket for a maximum of 15 minutes a day. You can only do this to replace water lost through evaporation, not to replace water deliberately removed from the pool or spa. You can only wash your vehicles with a bucket and sponge. You need a permit to fill new or renovated pools and spas that hold more than 500 litres. The use of recycled water, greywater, rainwater, bore water and river water is allowed under the new restrictions, however these may have their own controls on how they can be used.

02.01.2022 Will you join us?? Saturday 14th September 1-4 Hang our under the fruit trees, swap things and meet your neighbours.
