24.01.2022 Back to the office this week? Pets used to having us home under coronavirus restrictions may find our return to the office stressful. James Cook Universit...y's Dr Janice Lloyd said we can expect our animals to be a little clingy or anxious as we transition away from work-from-home. Signs your animal may be suffering anxiety: Increased panting Whining Hissing Digging at doors or windows Simple steps owners can take: Find out if there is a problem by placing a phone or computer camera in an area where your animal frequents whilst you leave the house to monitor their behaviour while you are out. Exercise first thing in the morning Treat filled toys while you are away Increase environmental enrichment Dr. Lloyd believes that the COVID-19 experience may in fact help owners to think about their animals needs a bit more deeply which would benefit all involved. 19.01.2022 Meet the newest addition to the Alderley Team! Helen graduated from the University of Queensland in 2009. Fresh out of university, she spent several years in a busy and diverse mixed practice on the outskirts of Brisbane where she saw many different cases and animal species for both routine and emergency conditions. For the last 6 years, Helen has been enjoying honing her skills in small animal practice. In 2018 Helen took a brief break from GP practice and ventured into ...the world of emergency work. After discovering her love of a good night’s sleep, she returned to the GP world in January 2019. During her working hours Helen enjoys medicine cases and getting to know her patients and their families. She enjoys the challenge of working through cases, collaborating with local specialists and getting to the bottom of problems. Outside of work Helen enjoys travel, cooking and a good book. She also enjoys keeping up with the resident dogs, Ava and Stanley, who rule the house, entertain endlessly and love long walks along the beach (or anywhere really let’s be honest!).
