17.01.2022 As a Myotherapy we were asked a couple of weeks ago to cease trade. Although we understand the necessity of the situation of reducing contact. Unfortunately, Myotherapists, who provide allied health services, have been lumped in with massage parlours and are now unable to deliver pain management programs and treatment. We call on the Queensland government to align itself with other jurisdictions in Australia and expand its definition of permitted healthcare providers like o...ther states and territories have done. Queensland’s current grouping of essential healthcare services is different and highly restrictive compared to other States and Territories such as Victoria, Western Australia and Northern Territory who have already passed Myotherapy as an approved essential healthcare service. Queenslanders rely on their healthcare providers to help ease chronic conditions and facilitate pain management programs. Patients currently have no choice but to place pressure on already overburdened hospitals and medical practitioners due to increased pain medications, uncontrolled chronic conditions or deteriorating mental health due to pain. Help all Queensland therapist out by signing this petition!
