20.01.2022 With immediate effect the Alliance Boat Ramp in Eildon is closed. I have taken the decision to direct for this to occur, whilst not mandated by the State Govern...ment, as we seem to be unable to get the message through to some who still think it is okay to travel and gather. We will be pushing this message to other areas to get the word out that there is little point travelling here as entry is closed. Stay Safe, Stay Home.

14.01.2022 I am devastated today with the behaviour of a small section of the Victorian Community. Our Shire was swamped today with tourists, ignoring the State Government..., Federal Government and our communities wishes for them to stay away. Eildon was busy with boats and jet skis, and the Campgrounds in the area still have people camping despite them closing several days ago. Large groups gathered in Marysville. More Groups in Kinglake including some who thought it was okay to climb over the barriers around the Bollygum Park Playground, there to protect their own safety. Yea has a constant flow of caravans, trailer tents and other heading out bush. This selfishness is putting all of our lives at risk. I have raised this issue during the day today with the State Government and fully understand that, if we get to the point of having to lockdown further, the behaviours of some irresponsible people will be the cause. As a Shire we do not have the power to turn people around, close our borders or anything similar. From all reports our community are doing the right thing staying home. Our shops, cafes and businesses have closed - some because we are all unable to support them because we have chosen to stay home, others because of their sense of community and also wanting to do the right thing. Tourists - we love you and when the time is right we will welcome you back with open arms - but now is not the time. Please STAY HOME. I will continue to work with the State Government to take measures to protect our Community. Stay Safe, Stay Home. Craig

14.01.2022 A big shout out to each of the community organisations and individuals who are helping bring you our carols tomorrow night. Community events like this can't run... without the gracious support of many individuals, and running a public event right now is even more complex. Alexandra Christmas Carols have been an initiative of Alexandra & District Traders & Tourism Association (ADTTA), Alexandra Rotary, and Alexandra Lions for many years. But this year we hope you will join us in thanking the following: - Rotary Club of Alexandra who are managing the gate and providing additional Covid Marshalls throughout the event - Alexandra Lions Club who are manning the free BBQ - Murrindindi Shire Council for all their event support, and resources on the night for additional cleaning - North East Light and Sound for the audio and livestream support - Lions Club of Marysville & District for supply of additional staging to provide safe distancing onstage - Embling Rural, Simpsons Fuel and FoodWorks Alexandra who have sponsored the event and made it possible - Alexandra Events Ltd who have provided temporary fencing and other infrastructure to ensure it's a safe and managed public event - Alexandra Fire Brigade who need to drive to the North Pole and back - to those many individuals who have volunteered to move fencing, construct staging, deal with bins, set up marquees, and the myriad of other tasks that happen behind the scenes to make an event run smoothly - and of course to the many artists and community groups who will be performing during the evening. The problem with a list like this is that you're always bound to miss someone. If we have, let us know so we can make sure that they are acknowledged too. Join us in saying "thanks" to each and every volunteer and organisation who have helped bring Carols to town. We couldn't do it without them.
