25.01.2022 School Banking Volunteers Required Calling for volunteers we need your help! Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help. ... The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking and distribution of School Banking rewards. This only takes a small amount of your time one day a week and the Commonwealth Bank will provide support in how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising. Currently, School Banking day is Wednesday. If you are interested in volunteering please come and see us in the staff room (next to the main office) Wednesday mornings between 9 and 10.30am.

16.01.2022 QLD ALL SCHOOLS TOUCH FOOTBALL Congratulations to all the students who represented Algester SS over the weekend at the QLD All Schools Touch competition. All players represented our school magnificently. Our Junior girls fought hard in all their games, our Junior boys made the quarter finals, our Senior girls made the semifinals and our Senior boys won the grand final for the 3rd year in a row. Congratulations Senior boys. An enormous thank you to our incredible coaches, Mi...ss Ockendon, Mr Jones, Mr Frohlich and Mr Ho, for their hard work and dedication with these teams. Thank you to all the other staff members, past and present, who came out to support our teams over the weekend. Your support was very much appreciated by all involved. Thank you also to our parent supporters who were sensational over the weekend. They supported our teams with enormous pride and exemplary conduct. They made themselves available to help out in any way possible and thoroughly enjoyed the exciting brand of Touch footy that their children played. Well done to all. It was a great weekend to be a proud member of team Algester. See more

15.01.2022 Dear All It is with regret I must announce that Chappie Wendy will be leaving us after MultiFEST. Her family circumstances necessitates a return to teaching so she will be leaving her Chaplaincy role. Wendy has been with us for nearly 3 years and has developed much trust and support with you, our students and the staff in this time. She will be missed greatly. You may wish to discuss this with your children if they are a client and consider a little farewell card.... We do wish her well in this new chapter of her life. Regards Mr Colin Torr Principal

13.01.2022 Dear Parents, I have just sent out a letter from the Education Department and the School regarding the current Smoke Hazard we are experiencing in Brisbane. I have only just made the decision to make some alternative arrangements at school for the next two days and pass on this letter given all of the reports I have seen on the television tonight and other advice I have received. I am afraid it is not possible to send you the letter via Facebook or QSchools because I need ...to be at school to do this. I have sent the letter via the new Flexibuzz App which does give us this flexibility. Until I am able to send the letter to you tomorrow at work, I would urge you to join up to this app, select the All Parents box and your child's year level box, and you will be able to read the letter. The letter describes how we will limit outdoor activities at school in the next couple of days to limit exposure to the hazard. Regards, Mr Colin Torr (Principal) Link for information about Flexibuzz: https://algesterss.eq.edu.au//flexibuzz%20user%20registrat

07.01.2022 The Algester SS music students performed magnificently yesterday morning for the elderly guests at the Senior Citizens Christmas concert. The audience was entertained by festive numbers from the Band, Strings and Choir, not to mention a choreographed dance number and some solo instrumental pieces on the keyboard. Plus there was a special guest appearance from the man himself, Santa. Congratulations to all the students who performed and thanks to Mrs Jeeva, Mr Cosic and Ms Williams for their wonderful efforts in bringing it altogether. Thanks to Mrs Brown for her role on sound and visuals and thanks to our parent helpers who assisted with catering for the event. A wonderful morning for all to enjoy.
