01.01.2022 Hi, my name is Alan Franklin. I live in Busselton, W.A. and l own and operate Southwest Scanning. I do pregnancy testing with sheep and work for a company calle...d Australian Stockscan Services PTY LTD which is run from a base in Kerang, Victoria. Stockscan is the only scanning company to give you processed figures for E.M.A. (eye muscle area). Scanners generally assess sheep at around 8 to 12 months of age for: Live weight, Eye Muscle Width, Eye Muscle Depth, Fat Depth. From these measurements an E.M.A is calculated, and E.M.A to L.W. is then calculated. From the above data an index is given rating the highest to lowest within your own flock. A Sire index can also be given upon request. Also available is a chump Muscle measurement which is a great tool to give you an idea of a heavy hind quartered animal.
