22.01.2022 On April 12 1991, I graduated as a Physiotherapist. On September 8 1999, I obtained my Sports Physiotherapy Title. On April 13, 2000 I graduated with a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy.... On August 8, 2008 I was a member of the Australian Olympic Team as Physiotherapist to The Australian Opals Basketball Team (Silver Medallists). While these are only titles and qualifications, and they do not define me, I am still very proud of my achievements. On May 25 2019, I qualified as a Yoga Teacher. I cannot express how proud I am of this achievement. It has been an incredible journey that I have shared with 11 other beautiful Yogis. We have had the privilege of being taught by the amazing Georgia Hicks (Yoga with Georgia) in the incredible studio, Lavana (Lavana Yoga) in Mount Eliza. Yoga is the journey of the Self, through the Self, to the Self (The Bhagavad Gita). It is my passion to facilitate this connection that we all need in order to heal.... the connection to our true selves... Namaste...Amanda xx

OPEN and HEAL by Amanda Berntsen The years go by and as they do We’re sometimes holding on To fears, regrets, pain and stress To people and things long gone Our body starts to tighten It’s not just what we do It’s the unresolved emotions That cause us pain and illness too There is no time like the present It takes courage to begin It all starts with the breath So STOP and look within Where do you hold your tension? Where do you store your stress? What memories lie deep inside Your back, neck and your hips? Perhaps you have an injury? That never does quite heal Feel what lies beneath the pain What does that injury reveal? Open up your body Open up your heart Open as you move And let the process start Peel away the layers The conditioned part of you Surrender to the old And open to the new You’ll begin to feel a lightness As the darkness starts to lift Connect to what you feel Feel the energy within you shift Yoga is the dance between The Light and Dark within you Surrender to the Darkness And watch your Light shine through You need to trust the process And stay with what you’re feeling The body and the mind will change As you feel your way to healing Always use your breath To connect you to that place Where joy and peace and love reside It is our blissful space As we open up our hearts And feel away our pain Love, Light, Peace and Joy They are all that do remain This blissful space that lies within you It’s the same place inside of me It is the Universal Spirit We are the SameWe are OneNamaste #alignphysioandyoga #yogajourney #healyourself #healyourheart #loveyoga
19.01.2022 What’s contributing to your tight or painful back, neck, hips or shoulders? As a Physiotherapist and recently trained Yoga Teacher, I want to share with you what I am currently seeing in my clinical Physiotherapy Practice.....extra-ordinary tightness and tension in people’s spinal joints and shoulder, hip and spinal muscles and fascia. Are you sitting too much?... Are you working at home with a less than optimal ergonomic workstation set-up? How are you feeling about the current situation you find yourself in due to the restrictions in place because of COVID-19? And what are you putting into your body? Are you over-indulging yourself in highly processed foods, high in sugar and ‘bad’ fat? Are you consuming too much coffee or alcohol? Inflammation and pain in our body can be due to PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL and/or CHEMICAL factors. Look after your posture. Don’t sit for too long. Lie on the floor and watch television rather than sit on the couch. Study or work at the dining table or at a desk rather than on the couch or your bed. Connect to how you are feeling. Acknowledge your emotions and ‘move’ and release them. Move by walking, running, stretching, practicing yoga, dancing or lifting weights or whatever else you love doing. Eat more alkalising, plant-based foods. Drink more water and herbal teas. Reduce your intake of meat and dairy products and take-away foods. Eat organic foods if possible and reduce the intake of chemical pesticides, herbicides and artificial flavours and colourings. Take some responsibility for your own body and your own health. Be aware of the PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL and CHEMICAL factors that can cause inflammation and pain in your body. Connect with YOU. Connect with your mind and your body. Be the witness to what you are doing, thinking and feeling. Practice holistic healing. Believe in the power that we all have to heal ourselves. Stay safe and well during these challenging times. 15.01.2022 This 5 week Yoga Workshop is designed for beginners and experienced practitioners who want to learn more about the correct way to use their core muscles in order to create a more conscious, empowering and healing yoga practice. . A one on one, 1 hour consultation with Amanda will precede the 5 group yoga classes. Diagnostic Ultrasound will be used to assess each individual’s Pelvic Floor and Transversus Muscle Groups. Other key muscles of the shoulder girdle and neck will a...lso be assessed. . After this session, each individual will know which muscles they should engage consciously in each posture and as they flow mindfully through yoga sequences. . Engaging the core muscles correctly helps prevent and treat muscle imbalances and injury, promotes energy efficient and accurate movement patterns and leads to improved posture, balance and wellbeing. .
