25.01.2022 Fantastic news for local schools
25.01.2022 So great to have the man himself, Minister Stephen Dawson MLC here in Kal to have a look at our fantastic local container deposit facility Locals have embraced this facility and I love hearing all the stories about families taking their kids out bush and picking up empties that are littering our lovely country.
24.01.2022 Fantastic to catch up with my friend Ian Taylor, former WA Deputy Premier, Opposition Leader and of course Member for Kalgoorlie! I showed him my office on Hannan Street and he was very excited about my campaign to become your strong local voice on the McGowan Labor Team in 2021! Feel free to pop by my office whenever the door is open, myself or my team are there most days including Saturday. If you cant pop in please give me a call or email, Id love to have a chat about what you see as our top issues in the Goldfields.
24.01.2022 Big day at the office getting lots of extra training from the fabulous team at WA Labor party office. Thank you so much to the wonderful State Secretary Tim Picton and State Campaign Organiser David Cann for coming out to Kal especially for us
23.01.2022 A big smile for R U OK? Day today. This is me with a friends puppy who always brings a smile to my face. Remember to ask those around you today how theyre going and be prepared to listen to what they say after
23.01.2022 Lets play I-spy...can you spot a current Goldfields Giants player, a former Wildcats player, SBL female players, lots of keen kids, KBBA board members, a former Giants player, and basketball champion Wayne Creek! An honour to be in a room with so much talent and drive! Albeit a room that needs some redevelopment - the new plans for the basketball stadium are absolutely brilliant.
23.01.2022 Fabulous meeting talking all things arts & culture at the roundtable this afternoon. Pictured here with the very well regarded local artist Tina Carmody who I was having a great chat to! Exciting times ahead for arts in our region.
22.01.2022 LOCAL LEGEND! Abbey Mentiplay Abs is a real local legend that has done countless community projects over the years off her own back. She just wants to help solve problems that she sees in our community and I think that is very earnest and generous of her. She is a wonderful soul and Im very pleased to have been able to have a good chat to her this morning, and Im excited for you to listen to a bit of her story below
22.01.2022 Last night I was invited as the guest of honour to the Navratri festival. I had so much fun. The colours, the dancing, the traditional dress - wow!! I was so lucky to be a part of this lovely evening.
22.01.2022 LOCAL LEGEND - KYLIE MEREDITH <3 The first unsung hero I would like to recognise is Kylie Meredith, an amazing woman who has done a lot in the Goldfields. Kylie is the Principal of Kurrawang CAPS and in her work there she has made a huge difference. In 2017 she got every single kid in the school to consent to ear testing with the Earbus when it came - ensuring the best health outcomes for her families. Kylie was one of the first students at Coolgardie CAPS School! So has been... part of the Goldfields for a long time. Kylie is also part of the Rotary Club of Kalgoorlie with me and as part of this club she really goes above and beyond to give back to the community. On top of all this she has a fantastic attitude and is always keen to try something new, and find a solution - which I think is a great Goldfields attitude that lots of people share here! Thank you Kylie for all your work you do for the community! If you know a local legend who is doing awesome stuff anywhere in the Goldfields please message me :) I love to show off our fantastic community. #lokallegend
22.01.2022 As a long term Fremantle Dockers fan, it was great to meet Ryan Crowley in Kalgoorlie at Diggers. Awesome guy!
21.01.2022 Today is World Teacher's Day!! Thank you to all teachers across the Goldfields. This is me with one of my besties Jo Stephens. She’s a Principal, and I just want to give a shout out to all the magnificent teachers out there teaching the next generations - in a particularly difficult year. Having worked in education for almost 15 years I understand and appreciate the work that’s done by many in classrooms everywhere
21.01.2022 A stark reminder of how lucky we are here in WA.... sending love and hugs to my family and friends over there
21.01.2022 ICYMI: Last week's local legend was Martin Cable who is truly a local legend! Do you have someone you'd like to nominate for a future week? Send me a message

20.01.2022 What a fabulous venue! The Barnes Federal Theatre in Leonora has so much history. Would be great to see it restored to its former glory. Thanks Linda for showing me around!... Shire of Leonora
20.01.2022 This is a great program - please share with anyone who might be interested in applying.
19.01.2022 One of the hats I wear is a board member of Artgold inc. - so much fabulous work comes out of the arts and culture industries in the Goldfields! Theres a Round Table discussion on Thursday starting at 4pm followed by a networking event, both at the Museum of the Goldfields. Please come along and join in the discussion - see you there.
19.01.2022 Over the past four years, the McGowan Labor Government has invested more funding into regional WA than *ANY* other government in history. Mark McGowan and WA Labor have guaranteed the future of Royalties for Regions, as promised. Not only have we strengthened the scheme due to previous Liberal-National mismanagement we have built on it to deliver for all the regions.... The recent State Budget includes the largest ever investment of more then $7.5 billion in regional infrastructure, plus billions of dollars into health, schools, police and justice services throughout regional WA including here in the Goldfields. As the Special Inquiry into Government Programs and Projects found, the previous Liberal-National government's lack of oversight of R4R funding destabilised the entire State's finances, and the enquiry highlighted the dysfunction between the Libs and Nats. They simply cannot be trusted with Royalties for Regions. Both the Liberals & Nationals continue to release competing and inconsistent regional election policies, and now they are publicly attacking one another in the media - it's too much of a risk to WA. I hope I can count on you for your support on March 13 to re-elect a McGowan Labor Government, and to give me the chance to be your strong local voice on the McGowan Labor Team. #ali4kal
19.01.2022 We’re going to need new sneakers at this rate The wind couldn’t stop us getting out again in Boulder! I just love talking to people in our community about what affects them, and they are loving what the McGowan Government is doing to keep us safe. Thank you Klase for your support again!
18.01.2022 Congratulations Ngadju Rangers!! Very happy to hear funding announced today from the McGowan Labor Government for this crew based around Norseman area. I first talked to Les Shultz about the need for finding a while ago and from there got Kyle McGinn MLC down to meet him too. From there Kyle was able to advocate to the Government for funding. Aboriginal ranger programs provide vital services caring for country, as well as fantastic opportunities for people to learn new sk...ills and help their community. Thank you Les for your time having a chat about this today with me, and also months ago - and congrats again!
18.01.2022 ICYMI: My first election commitment is for three fantastic arts and culture projects in Norseman. This came out through a strong collaborative process with the Shire of Dundas. Read more below
18.01.2022 Thanks so much to everyone who came along the the Halloween Disco. Check out some of the costumes - just amazing!
17.01.2022 I’m so excited to have announced my first of many job-creating commitments in Norseman this morning. $80,000 commitment for three cultural projects which was developed through a strong collaborative process with the Shire of Dundas.
17.01.2022 Quick tourist stop with Minister Dave Kelly MP and Kyle McGinn MLC at the Super Pit! Thanks for having us Saracen Mineral Holdings and Northern Star Resources.
15.01.2022 Ruth Bader Ginsburg changed the world. Her consistent message was that women must be at the decision-making table, and I am proud to be fighting for a spot at the table to represent the Goldfields. As part of the McGowan Labor Team I commit right now to always make sure the Goldfields, and ALL people that live in our community, are fairly represented to the State Government. WA Labor have our Towards 50 policy which works towards equal representation in Parliment. ... May the notorious R.B.G. rest in power (Image credit: unknown - please let me know if you can find it)
15.01.2022 I was already very much looking forward to Spring Fest but now - even more so! LORNA MITCHELL SPRING FESTIVAL presented by NORTHERN STAR RESOURCES, supported by Make Smoking History WA! Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc

14.01.2022 Message for all Year 12s from Mark McGowan! Tag a Year 12 student below so they see this. This week our Year 12 students will begin their final exams. When they’re over, it will mark the end of a journey. Over a decade of learning in and out of the classroom. A journey which due to COVID-19 has had quite an ending.... Good luck and congratulations for getting to this point! See more
14.01.2022 Anyone who met this wonderful man on the weekend would have seen how generous he is. And of course - we respect him because of his very strong leadership through this global crisis. I am working so hard to be part of McGowan's team and I hope you can support me to get there. The Goldfields deserves better representation in the seat of Kalgoorlie, and I have a track record of getting things done.... I am here to listen to any issues you have and ideas about how you think our community can be even stronger https://walabor.org.au/alikentkalgoorlie
13.01.2022 Popped down to St Barbs Square today while it was a bit sunnier to see the great display by Mates 4 Mates Goldfields and Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre. Well done to Kathy from Mates 4 Mates for organising a lot for today! And for all the work you do through the year for mental health.

Thank you to all my wonderful #TeamAli helpers for being at the stall, especially Bobby-Lee and George for organising everything! Also to Kyle McGinn MLC, we shared a double space stall. ... 12.01.2022 The Minister has spoken! No story here. Let’s carry on then, shall we?
12.01.2022 LOCAL LEGEND Stuie Fleming! This man has been working so hard over the last few months for the Boulder Rotary Auction, and of course for many years before now as well. He’s also been a member of the Goldfields Rep Club for a long time and is a really fantastic example of someone who gives back to the community! The Goldfields spirit is well and truly alive in Stu and in all the work he does. So please join me in saying thank you, Stuie! For all your contributions to ...the community. The live auction is tonight at the Tower Hotel so please head along and grab a ticket at the door to support Rotary Club of Boulder - WA and of course the 22 beneficiaries this year from the auction.
12.01.2022 We are having such a fabulous time at the Spring Festival! Don’t forget to pop by the Big Red Tent, and say hi to all the crew and our very special guest, the Premier Mark McGowan who’ll be here at 2pm!
11.01.2022 Thanks so much to Labor Women's Organisation for your support!
11.01.2022 ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!! Thank you to everyone who came out for our huge adventurous day exploring the amazing Goldfields - how lucky are we to live in such a beautiful place. A group of about 50 of us followed the Golden Quest Discovery Trail from Coolgardie to Kunanulling, Ora Banda, Siberia, Goongarrie, Menzies, then to Broad Arrow and then the Super Pit and finished up at Sheffields in Boulder. A mammoth day, all organised by the wonderful Klasey and Sarah - thank you so ...much for your work for this. Thank you to our event supporters!! DeBernales, Coolgardie Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service, Kyle McGinn MLC, Sheffields and WA Labor in the Goldfields <3 Congratulations to the winning teams and to everyone that came for the adventure and learnt a bit more about our region. Now time for a nap!!
10.01.2022 I love my team Last night a few people gathered in my office to help call around to people to participate in my community survey. It was Marilyns birthday yesterday so one of my team members Klasey organised flowers and a cake for her to celebrate. Very sweet!! Marilyn Green is a long time Labor supporter in the Goldfields and I really value her and her husband Peters input and history with our great party, WA Labor. ... I was at another meeting while this was happening but a video was captured showing the lovely moment. After my meeting I came down to the office and was able to wish Marilyn a happy birthday myself. Would you like to join our lovely team? We have lots of opportunities to help available from very easy jobs like stuffing envelopes all the way up to a big organising role. I would love your support, even if you are busy and cant do much. Sign up at this link and Ill give you a call to see what you have time to help with (even if its just a sign on your front fence!) walabor.org.au/alikentkalgoorlie
10.01.2022 This morning I paid my respects to my granddad and all those who stood alongside him during WWI. I also thought of all those Goldfielders who went off to serve their country during wars Australia has been involved in. It was nice to speak to Peter Green (right) who served in Vietnam, finishing his service in 1970. And of course his lovely wife Marilyn (left) who attended to pay her respects as well. I am always thinking about the future of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Goldfie...lds, what projects we need to get happening here, future development and how to support our diverse industries...but it’s also important to look back and never forget our history and where we’ve come from. I’ve been thinking about this a lot this week, during NAIDOC Week, and the importance of really honestly acknowledging the past, before we can look to the future.
10.01.2022 Lest we forget My granddad fought in the First World War in France. I am lucky enough to have a collection of postcards he kept from his time there. As well as a postcard he sent his sister about the ‘Jerry’s destroying the Steeple of Basilica’. Sends shivers down my spine to think of him sending this in 1917. Remembrance Day locally will be at the Kalgoorlie War Memorial (outside the train station) from 10.40am. Hope to see you there. ... (and yes, no poppy emoji so a hibiscus flower will have to do!)
10.01.2022 Snuck in a quick doorknock yesterday arvo before our evening team meeting. Love having great conversations with locals!
09.01.2022 If youve ever spoken to me for a few minutes I probably have mentioned how much I love the Goldfields community spirit! I am keen to publicly recognise those in our community who go above and beyond to make a positive difference here. Im looking for the unsung heroes not necessarily those who have won a big award or the usual faces we all know about, I want to hear about the generous people that quietly have gone about their days but always found time to help you out, giv...e you a hand, do something for you or volunteer with a group. These local legends are the ones with small actions who are making a big difference to our community! Please nominate your local legend by sending me a message on this page, and once a week I will be sharing a great story of someone who is truly a #lokallegend Lets celebrate and recognise the unsung local legends in our community (I know you've already thought of someone who deserves to be nominated!)

05.01.2022 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI!! The big 60 today and as you can see - going down the slide is still fun no matter your age! Ali we are so proud to support you, and we know you are going to make a fantastic member (we hope the people can see that too!) You have the best experiences, knowledge and guts to really give the Goldfields a good run in Parliament ... The strength you’ve shown over your career and your personal life has stood you in good stead for the trials of a campaign - so you’re prepped for things like when the photographer asks you to go down the slide with little Samara!! And most importantly you believe in the Goldfields and it’s potential! You have a lot of heart and you really care about people’s issues. We hope you have the most fabulous birthday!! Love, from your Team Ali.

04.01.2022 Kalgoorlie has been absolutely pumping lately! We’ve had a huge few weeks and it has been very exciting to see so many people in town. I was excited to be at the presentations for the 2020 TX Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship at the Kalgoorlie Golf Course last weekend. It was great to meet Jarryd Felton who claimed the championship and of course ended up with this fantastic big trophy! Congratulations to Jarryd and all the players for a great event, and to all the event... organisers for a fantastic job well done Thanks to Kyle McGinn MLC for the invite!
04.01.2022 Kalgoorlie Health Campus MRI update! On Friday while the Premier and I were announcing our Plan for the Goldfields, Minister for Health Roger Cook MLA and Alanna Clohesy MLC visited the site of the MRI suite in Kal. As you can see from the picture great progress is being made on the build, with the exterior structure complete and the walls almost all up. This build is being completed by a great local Goldfields company, Acorp Constructions. ... Thank you to our great local WA Country Health Service team for showing the Minister and Member around so we could receive an update on the project. I know how important this project is for so many people in the Goldfields so will always update you as much as possible on the progress of this important service.
04.01.2022 Today is small business day! And a great chance to recognise some fantastic local small businesses across my electorate. Don’t forget - where you can, shop LoKal first! Find out more about small business day here: https://smallbusinessmatters.net.au/page/get-involved
03.01.2022 Look, I have never liked asking for help - I suppose that is a product of being raised so independently by my Dad. But I do need your help. Campaigns can cost a lot and if you aren't able to make it to an event (or just don't feel like being social which is totally okay too!) I would love if you are able to donate to my campaign, so I can keep being super visible around the Goldfields and pay for more coreflutes, t-shirts and hats. And if you see me driving around in my very... red car, give me a little 'toot toot'! https://walabor.org.au/donatetoali/ If elected as the Member for Kalgoorlie, alongside Mark McGowan and the Labor Team, I can promise to represent you and our beautiful region to the absolute best of my abilities.
03.01.2022 I am so passionate about issues relating to women and services provided to the Goldfields community. Great to catch up with Mandy Reidy from the Womens Refuge. Unfortunately I got to see and hear first hand the problems they are dealing with. So much respect for everyone working in this space and thank goodness we have them looking after our community
02.01.2022 I need this today after an awesome night last night! Thanks so much to everyone who came and danced the night away to the wonderful K2 - Henri & Mairia, who sang the best disco music. Special bouquet to my gorgeous friend Gloria, who helped organise the night and emceed perfectly, and Dean Connell - a fabulous dance instructor
02.01.2022 These ones don’t care how busy I am...they still love a run! Lulu, Ruby and Belle.
02.01.2022 LOCAL LEGEND: Wayne Bird I’m out in Coolgardie today for work, and had a few minutes with Wayne to have a chat about his awesome voluntary work here. People in Coolgardie knows he is the guy to see whenever anyone has any needs at all. He’s the chair of the Men’s Shed but wants to stress that all are welcome to come along and learn a few new skills and meet some great people. ... Thank you Wayne for your time today, and despite not liking the word ‘legend’ I still think you are one!! #lokallegend
