19.01.2022 Hello, Sherbourne Ward! Many of you will have received this brochure in your letterboxes in the last week. It reads like this project is going ahead as per this design. So many of this community are concerned that there hasn’t been sufficient effective engagement in this project by LXRP. Over 1,100 signatures from this community have been collected to date requesting genuine consultation around the new location. What are your thoughts? How does this design impact you? What a...re the implications of this design? Please post your responses below. I can use your feedback in council’s briefing with LXRP in the new year. Thank you. See more

16.01.2022 Hi Everyone, on this week's champion chat, we are talking to Maureen Jones about her fascinating book Montmorency: The Farm on the Plenty. Watch full episode here => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qg9kCQaM3U This book lays out the history of Montmorency from its earliest years as a hunting ground the Wurundjeri willam people, through its uptake by white settlers. Ownership of the land remained in the hands of one family for four generations spanning seventy years, before... the land evolved through small farmlets into a suburb once part of the former Shire of Eltham, now part of Banyule City Council. We also discuss; How Maureen got into writing. What inspired Maureen to write Montmorency: The Farm on the Plenty. How did the community react? Challenges Maureen faced during the process. People who supported and reflections If you are interested in finding out more information about the book please reach Maureen at [email protected]

16.01.2022 Hello, Sherbourne community! In this video, I am showing you a few pictures of Lower Plenty Primary School crossing. Early this year one of our lovely parents came to me and suggested we should have a raised crossing to slow down traffic and allow for people to cross safely. What do you think? a) construct a raised crossing to slow down traffic.... b) do nothing - leave it alone

15.01.2022 Hello, Sherbourne Ward! Due to our current restrictions, Maureen Jones’ book launch and signing of Montmorency The Farm on The Plenty won’t take place tomorrow, 4th September, in Were St. Please contact Maureen at her email address mentioned in this month’s podcast if you’d like to order a copy. Or three. We are hoping for this event to take place as soon as we know restrictions are lifted, and will keep you informed of a future date. In the meantime, Happy Fathers’ Day to all our dads through all the generations on Sunday, 5th (not 12th! ). Have a special day, whether in person or virtually.

14.01.2022 So very exciting to be on the lush Monty North Oval with some of our junior players during their training last Thursday. ‘Thank you’ to Lorne and Brodie for the opportunity to practise hand-balling (been about 30 years since my last attempt!). Also, great to see familiar faces in Adam and Riley. Just! They have grown so much since they were 3 at Panorama Heights Kinder along with my Nicky. And many thanks to Banyule Sport and Leisure and Montmorency Football Club for working together so well to make this happen. We hope the football community enjoys playing many, many games on this new field, and continues to create great players and special friendships.

11.01.2022 Hello, Sherbourne Ward! Banyule Council recently met briefly with LXRP to learn about the change of plan on the Hurstbridge Rail Duplication project. The line is not being duplicated past Montmorency Station and councillors asked questions relating to impacts on Petrie Park and vegetation, cost savings on the project (which we thought could be used for a bike/pedestrian trail along the north eastern train line), the location of new signals near Monty Station, planned parking... provisions on Mayona and Station Roads, and the possibility of a transport interchange at Greensborough Station. When asked about the next online community information sessions (due to this change of plan), Council was told this: The Department of Premier and Cabinet’s instructions to LXRP are to not conduct anymore information sessions online for this project and to get on with all aspects of the project to complete it by 2022. I’d love to know your thoughts on this comment and intention. What do you think? See more

10.01.2022 Remembrance Day this year for Monty-Eltham RSL was held at Kangaroo Ground War Memorial. As an invitation-only event this year, it was smaller than in other years, and no less significant. It’s always an honour to be asked to participate as the Banyule representative. Lest we forget

08.01.2022 I am forwarding a message from The Governor of Victoria, her Excellency the Honorable, Linda Dessau AC. Ple ase click on the link to hear her speak to us all. https://www.governor.vic.gov.au/all-news/message-governor

08.01.2022 Hello, Banyule Community. Please take a few minutes out of your day to listen to my message. As challenged as we are right now, know that This Too Shall Pass. Very best wishes to you all.

08.01.2022 Ask yourselves, is this destruction worth only 2 additional train services a day, a still at-grade pedestrian crossing and no shared-use path? Who decided that... the safety of commuters on straight platforms was more important than the safety of local children and the elderly or disabled crossing the double tracks several times a day? If Monty's heart must be ripped out, should it not be replaced with the safest, most sympathetic and user-friendly option we can get? For this much destruction and devastation, could we not have been asked if we wanted an underpass, or an overpass? This new station precinct will be bulky and sprawl out over 13,500 sqm across Monty. Is this what you expected? Did you also expect to lose most of the trees in Petrie Park along the train line? We certainly didn't. And we know Petrie Park can and should be untouched. Let LXRP and Vicki Ward know how you feel. Email or call Vicki Ward to ask her to advocate for our park: [email protected] 9439 1500 You can also email or call LXRP, attention Hurstbridge Line Duplication Team and mark your query as urgent: [email protected] 1800 105 105 They should respond within 7 days. If not, you can escalate your query to the Victorian Ombudsman: [email protected]

04.01.2022 I planned to chat with Tom Melican about the impacts of NELP on Rosanna and his take on the Supreme Court challenge. I got more of his vision of our lives post-COVID and how our transport methods may look very different as well as our lifestyles. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sligfoQT7go&feature=youtu.be

04.01.2022 Hello, Sherbourne community! In this video, I am showing you two photographs of Briar Hills shops. One is a north facing wall, which has a beautiful artwork of a bird by a local artist. The other has graffiti on it. What would you like to see on the wall with the graffiti? a) Paint the graffitied wall with a suitable mural... b) Other - please suggest c) Do nothing - leave it alone Let me know your thoughts
