25.01.2022 This article virtually sums up why I’m having a hard time returning to private practice and why it’s taking me so long to build a client base. I no longer ‘do weight loss.’ Therefore, I have lost 80-odd percent of my usual clientele as the referrals I receive generally pertain to weight loss in order to manage a diagnosed health condition (i.e. type 2 Diabetes, high blood cholesterol). If not referred, the majority of my clients feel they must lose weight in order to be healthier. This is just not true. I’m so glad that this paradigm shift is gaining traction, albeit slowly. The hardest part will be changing the minds, perceptions and attitudes of the general public as it is so firmly ingrained that weight defines health.

14.01.2022 It’s taken over a year to get to this point, but I am finally live and ready for clients via. Doctors on Demand - online GP and health services. Online health consultations are the way of the future and it has been my dream since I started All About Balance, back in 2014, to establish a practice that can be accessed by anyone and everyone all over Australia. Online practice is the way of the future and will significantly help to bridge the gap between those who have limitle...ss access to healthcare services here in the big smoke and those in rural and remote areas that may have limited or no access to the care that they need. We have the technology at our fingertips and most of us use it effortlessly everyday. From calling our family and friends, or conducting teleconfrences with our colleagues (think Skype and FaceTime.) However, it is the financial support that we don’t have. Recognition by Medicare that Telehealth services are a valid and efficient means of providing health and medical care to people all across Australia, would be a dream come true. By providing rebates to patients with GP Management/Enhanced Primary Health Care Plans or Team Care Arrangements who use allied health services via online means would be an incredible step towards equitable healthcare for all Australians. Given our ever increasingly busy lifestyles, Telehealth provides much more flexible access to healthcare services, by reducing the burden that is often felt by having to commit to face-to-face appointments. Being able to access a Dietitian or any other health care provider online, reduces the need to take time off work, arrange childcare, commute to and from, find parking etc. and ultimately improves attendance rates, which is great for both patient and practitioner. Hoping this is the start of something big!
