25.01.2022 Nathan sat down with SA Premier Steven Marshall today to discuss the issues currently facing our veteran community and how the state government can better tackle veteran mental health, suicide prevention and early intervention. Although the wheels of change move slowly, it was a great chat and we are definitely moving in the right direction.

Nick Boundy (aka M4SONIC) pulls back the curtain on his journey through the Electronic Dance Music Industry for all to see. He talks openly and honestly about his experiences and the pressures he f...aced constantly trying to create music, in an environment filled with disrupted sleeping patterns, physical distance from family and friends and the pressure and anxiety of performing in front of large crowds. An incredibly insightful interview and one you will not want to miss. 20.01.2022 It is the month of Mo-vember...and to Bolton Brothers, it is Male Mental Health Month. Growing a mo, or a caterpillar, a slug or a rug on the ol'top lip is more than just a moustache. It is about what it represents, and what it says to those around you. A mo in Movember is a physical sign that says to your brothers that you do get it, you understand this fight, and you understand the battle that can be lurking beneath the shadows. The mo is a public display, requiring no words that shows your mates, your family, your colleagues and others that you know this battle is real...and to call on me whenever in need.

19.01.2022 Roger Rasheed is best known as Grand Slam Coach of Australian former world no. 1 Lleyton Hewitt, world no. 3 Grigor Dimitrov, former world no. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and former no. 6 Gael Monfils. But what is less known about Roger is that he was a gifted tennis player himself, forced out of the game by a crippling back and spinal injury. With his dream of becoming a professional tennis player over, Roger was left with a choice: let it define you, let it destroy you, or let it ...strengthen you. Roger picked himself up and in a remarkable display of human resilience, turned to coaching where he would not only excel in his new role, but find international success in the process. Roger speaks openly and honestly with Callum MacPherson about overcoming self doubt, the challenge of letting down your wall, and finding strength in vulnerability. Episode drops Wednesday 7th October. Young Blood - Men's Health Matters PodBooth

19.01.2022 There is nothing more fun and exciting than sharing your life as a soldier, your tours, the demons that followed you home and looking after your mates to an entire Cohort of Year 5's at St Peter's College, Adelaide, South Australia. For what was meant to be a 45min discussion on Courageous Australians...it was an hour and 15mins later by the time they managed to drag the last kid out of the hall. Loved every minute of it! They are the future, so let's give them the best education and best head start as possible.

18.01.2022 MOVEMBER: Stop Men Dying Too Young During my darkest hours, when all hope seemed lost, it took putting one foot in front of the other, every single day, to climb my way out. I stumbled and I fell. I struggled but I never quit. I got back up. I reminded myself that what happened yesterday no longer matters. Today is another day. Get back on track and keep moving forward. I did it. So can you. This November, we will be raising money and awareness for people who have been touche...d by mental ill health and suicide. The funds raised will go into research into early detection, prevention and treatment of mental health disorders, as well as vital support services for those most at risk. So, if you’re feeling up to it, flick us a donation. Every dollar counts. Long after our footprints fade away, our job is to make sure that we have left the world a little better than we found it. Not the samenot worsebetter.

09.01.2022 It’s not hard to understand why so many people dream of becoming professional athletes. The glory, the glamour, the fame and the fortune. But what are their odds of actually making it? According to International Performance Coach Roger Rasheed, for every athlete who makes it to the top of the hill, the sheer carnage on the side of the road is enormous. He says the more an athlete can be open and honest about what they are really going through, the better off they will be. 07.01.2022 Controversial Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios has spoken publicly about his battle with depression. His story reminds us that mental ill health can affect anyone, regardless of social standing and achievements in life. Kyrgios, a polarising figure both on and off the tennis court, admits he has been in a lonely, dark place due to the isolating schedule of professional tennis players. A lot of people were putting pressure on me, I put a lot of pressure on myself, Kyrgios ...told Stellar magazine. I just lost joy for the game and I was spiralling out of control. I fell into depression because of the things I thought I had to be. I was afraid to go out and talk to people because I thought I’d let them down because I wasn’t winning matches. Kyrgios recalled one day at an event in Shanghai where he could not get out of bed. When I was struggling and it wasn’t just about tennis there were moments when I was seriously depressed. I remember waking up in Shanghai one year and it was 4pm and I was still in bed, curtains closed. I didn’t want to see the light of day, he revealed. I didn’t feel like I could trust anyone. It was a lonely, dark place. I don’t think people understand how lonely tennis can be. You’re out there on the court on your own. You can’t really talk to anyone. You have to figure things out for yourself. I did struggle with that. Reported by Catherine Healey.

07.01.2022 Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. -- Nelson Mandela Take Austrian Skydiver, Daredevil, and Base Jumper ‘Fearless’ Felix Baumgartner who jumped from the Edge of Space. It almost didn’t happen. Whilst I imagine there were certain pressures in knowing that the whole world was watching, the one thing that almost stopped Felix dead in his tracks was Claustrophobia, yes Cl...austrophobia, the fear of confined spaces, brought on by his pressurised suit and helmet. After all his past exploits, all the extreme things he had done over his career, nobody would have guessed that Felix would be brought to his hands and knees by simply wearing a space suit. In the end, it turned into panic attacks, a fight-or-flight urge to escape. Felix had found his limit and now needed assistance to go beyond it. He acquired the help of a Psychologist and by his side, he developed the practical skills and knowhow needed to better manage his Claustrophobia, and the rest is history. Felix would go on to break World Records and earn the respect of his peers and the world over. "Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it. -- Judy Blume

06.01.2022 "The truth is that all veterans pay with their lives. Some pay all at once, while others pay over their lifetime". JM Storm The Advertiser today published a damming article on the problems currently faced by our veteran community. They highlighted the increasing number of suicide rates, blown out waiting times for those trying to seek help, issues with the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) claim processes and now the allegations about alleged war crimes committed at the han...ds of a small number of Australian soldiers, which will no doubt resurface traumatic material for the rest. If you're a veteran and you're struggling, please put your hand up and reach out to us. We will get you in to see a psychologist. And if we can't, for whatever reason, we will call upon our network of colleagues to book you in elsewhere. You put your body and mind in harms way to protect us and now it's time that we protect you. We are also calling upon our colleagues around the state and Australia to do the same. We need to stand together, united and get these veterans back on their feet.

02.01.2022 In the wake of the bushfires, COVID-19 Pandemic and now the Recession, the Federal Government have announced that they are raising the number of sessions in the Mental Health Care Plan from 10 to 20 sessions per year, for an initial two-year period. This is an incredible result! For those unfamiliar with a mental health treatment plan and how it actually works, you must go to your local GP and talk to your doctor about what’s been going on. It helps to be as open and honest a...s possible. If eligible, the GP will prepare a mental health treatment plan before referring you to a psychologist of your choosing. You can then access up to 20 Medicare-subsidised sessions during a calendar year. You should book a longer appointment with your GP to enable time for this. If anyone has any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

01.01.2022 On Wednesday night, the Whyalla Suicide Prevention Network funded by Country SA PHN devoted an amazing evening to our First Responders...our Police Officers, our Firefighters and our Paramedics to help combat the stigma associated with mental health. For years, these men and women willingly put their mind and body in harms way for the greater good of everyone else, and they willingly choose to carry the atrocities, the sights, the smells, and the burdens with distinction and ...valour. However, many of our First Responders also willingly choose to maintain a stoic front, and accept that witnessing horror is all just part of the job. But in the end...we are all just human, and witnessing enough destruction and conflict can take a toll on the best of us. The Whyalla SPN held this evening of drinks, food, entertainment and stories to not only show our First Responders that they are not alone during times of need...be it tomorrow or in 30 years, but to also never be afraid to call on us...for we will always be here for you. Thank you so much for the invitation and allowing me to be a part of the conversation. It was a privilege. South Australia Police SA Metropolitan Fire Service SA Ambulance Service
