21.01.2022 CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening. We appreciate those who are tha...nking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits. If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe.

14.01.2022 .............Community information ............. Good afternoon Allans Flat, Osbornes Flat & Staghorn Flat communities As of this morning the CFA chief officer made the decision to suspend all non emergency activities including brigade training, meetings and unfortunately community engagement activities due to the Coronavirus issue. ... We will still be responding to all emergency calls as per normal. This step was taken to limit potential exposure to our members. Our aim is to keep our members healthy so we can maintain an operational response to our community as needed. Rest assured if you call 000 for any emergency we will still be there as required. Can we also please ask that if you have self isolated or are demonstrating any flu like symptoms that you advise the 000 operator, this will allow us to be fully prepared to assist you as required Thank you all for your understanding & continued support Mick Hillas Captain

08.01.2022 7 February 2009 46.4C maximum temperature 173 lives lost 400+ fires 414 injured... 2,029 homes destroyed 7,567 people displaced 78 communities directly impacted 358 career firefighting personnel deployed 19,000+ CFA/FFMV members involved 450,000+ hectares burnt It was Black Saturday. Today we remember those that lost their lives, their homes, their properties, their loved ones, and their animals, and gratefully thank all those who worked tirelessly to bring an end to the devastation on that day, and in the immensely difficult days that followed. The people, communities and landscapes of Victoria were forever changed that day. We stand with those who with great hope and courage are still grieving and recovering, and acknowledge those who continue to work with affected individuals and communities. Together, we remember.

For us it’s pretty much business as usual , although some restrictions when it comes to training which we are balancing around . Nice to see some sunshine although more rain predicted , and this means grass grows! Now is the time to clean up its helps us and protects you , please remember to register your burns o...n 1800 668 511 , just go through the prompts , it’s very easy, operators are friendly and appreciate the call and saves us getting a 000 call. The past 2 fire seasons the crew of Allans Flat has actively been involved on the fire grounds, our tanker had fire damage from the Walwa fire but like the crew we have dusted it off, all repaired, rested and ready to help out wherever needed. 07.01.2022 There is a significant incident near Cressy (west of Geelong), involving seven high voltage power transmission lines which have come down due to storm activity in the area. This incident may have an impact on Victoria's power supply as there is a high likelihood of power outages and load shedding. Current advice for all Victorians from the Australian Energy Operator is -... *Turn off non-essential appliances including your washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher *Set your air conditioner to 23-26 degrees *Switch off your pool pumps If you have a critical need for electricity (eg. for medical equipment) please plan ahead now.
07.01.2022 With a great weekend coming, if you’re planning on cleaning up around your property, please don’t forget to register your burn off to stop unessential call outs for CFA Volunteers

04.01.2022 Good morning all . Autumn is the best time of year on the Border in my opinion, and if you’re anything like me busy 24/7. . As we start to think about collecting kindling and wood for the fire, think about these things...... Birds , Wasps, Bees, Possums and possibly more have enjoyed and partied in your chimneys over the warmer months but sadly it’s time for them to move on .. Please ensure and make time to get your chimney cleaned, flue checked, fire wood not stacked against the house also. Fires can start quite easily in chimneys and alike. All the crew are available 24/7 at Allans Flat even in these crazy times .. Happy Saturday and it looks like being a beautiful Autumn day . Shane 1st Lieutenant.
