08.01.2022 We are pleased to be able to offer another one of Sian Prior’s Writing As Therapy courses to mothers separated from their child or children through past adoption practices. Priority will be given to mothers who live in Victoria or whose child was born and/or adopted in Victoria. Please contact us to register or find out more. Here is some feedback from the last one (published with permission): She was great and I loved how she shared her story (Anon) Valuable, lots of food for thought. (Robyn) Superb presentation Sian. You managed the zoom 2 hours expertly and smoothly. (Dorothy) I was thinking that I’d done enough classes, reading etc. about the process and inspiration for writing and just need to write more but this workshop proved me wrong. (Sylvia)

05.01.2022 On 25th October 2012 former Premier of Victoria Ted Baillieu delivered the Victorian Parliamentary Apology for Past Adoption Practices. A key outcome of the apology was the long-awaited Adoption Act Amendment which legislated a natural parent's right to information about an adult adopted person. A further amendment in 2015 removed contact statements thereby ensuring equal rights for natural parents and adopted persons to apply for identifying information and to record their ...wishes regarding contact. While this year we are not able to gather to commemorate the eighth anniversary of our apology, we can join together in our loss, sorrow and hope and share our solidarity with all mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and other relatives affected by harmful adoption practices. You are welcome to contact VANISH for free confidential information, support and search assistance here on Facebook or email us at [email protected] or telephone (03) 9328 8611 or 1300 826474.
