21.01.2022 Often things that are so much fun for kids can be the very thing that can lead to a child with allergies being or feeling left out. Good news - it doesn’t have to be that way! Simply washing your hands and face with soap or a good wipe with a baby wipe means that the bouncy castle is less likely to be covered in food and allergens We will have awesome bouncy castles at our halloween fun day and a washing station right there ready to use. We want to 1) make it safe so kids with allergies can have a ball 2) show others how easy it is to have an allergy aware event. 19.01.2022 Our starting school seminar is running for the second year in a row. It was a great evening last year. We discussed and workshopped how parents could approach schools about allergies, what are reasonable expectations when it comes to allergy management at school, preparing yourself and your child for the school year, shared resources and so much more. Here is just a snippet of the feedback we received: "Thank you again for your advice this evening. We are all lucky to have p...eople like yourselves helping other parents through the minefield of unknowns." "It was so much easier getting in touch with the school and working out a plan for our child together after your seminar" Book in now if you are keen as we have limited spaces.
17.01.2022 Everyone needs to make their own decisions about traces of, may contains and the like. But I have seen a few of these on AA&A recently where choc covered somethings are contaminated with nuts. I would like to share my personal experience with coated things. As a person living with nut allergies all their life, and generally having no idea what that really meant for the first half of my life, I chomped into many a choc/yoghurt coated non-nut product only to realise it was indeed a nut. Luckily I noticed straight away and it all worked out fine. But I did learn to avoid them fast. I would have thought processes would have improved but seems not. So from one nut allergic person to another I would be super cautious with choc/yoghurt coated things
17.01.2022 Happy Tummies know what it is like to live with allergies. They sent us an huge pack of lollipops and they put an ingredients list on every single one There will be so many treats at our fun day on the weekend. Food and non food

16.01.2022 So important. People with allergies should have access to safe food in hospital and feel assured that hospitality staff are well versed on managing allergies. Amazing job everyone involved

11.01.2022 R U OK? day here in Australia. A yearly reminder that we should check in with others especially if they don’t quite seem themselves or have had some big life changes. Which goes for pretty much everyone this year. It is also important to check in with yourself. R U OK? If someone asks what would you say? If you really had to stop and reflect? We can sometimes get so busy and caught up in our daily lives, especially when managing additional challenges like allergies, that we don’t notice we aren’t quite ok. Let people in, let them help and remember it is ok to ask for help
10.01.2022 Our first family workshop for older kids is coming up. It will be a great morning for parents, kids, siblings and all involved. It is a mix of learning about allergies, how to manage life with allergies and connecting with others in a similar position. Best of all it is FREE thanks to Atlas Iron. Book in now.

09.01.2022 Everyone can let loose at our allergy aware Spooktacular Fun Day! So how are we making it allergy aware? We ask that no one wanders around eating food. There will be a designated eating area for those who wish to have a snack or a coffee. You can sit and eat in this area and wash your hands at the station provided. Everyone will be asked to wash or wipe their hands before participating in activities. Simple yet effective. There will be lots of opportunity to learn about aller...gies, key to allergy awareness. Plus we will all look out for each other It is a free event but we need you to order tickets for contact tracing. https://www.trybooking.com/BLNTL

06.01.2022 Schools back! I don't know about you but Term 4 looks set to be a big one with endless events. While it will be a lot of fun it can also be a bit overwhelming, especially if you are dealing with allergies in the mix. Try to remember to give yourself and your kids some room to breathe and play here and there :)
05.01.2022 Our wonderful resident psych - Emma The kids had a ball with her at our family workshop, playing, learning, chatting about life with allergies and their feelings and emotions. In her presence everyone and everything feels calm and collected She has been helping families living with allergies for over 4 years now, such a legend
04.01.2022 Just a little reminder that your health and well-being is important too! We see so many parents at the hub doing everything to ensure their children are safe, healthy, happy, advocated for and included It takes a lot of time and energy. If we don’t take care of ourselves as well and keep a check on our own health at some point we will fall in a heap. So remember to check in with yourself and your health and well-being. Take some time to look after yourself, you deserve it
02.01.2022 Jackie Nevard from @my_food_allergy_friends will be doing a Q&A via zoom at our family fun day all about managing events and celebrations. But we love to hear from you as well! How do you manage celebrations and events when living with allergies?
