12.01.2022 Over the holiday season we challenged our Homes to create the perfect protein packed snack to keep our beloved residents healthy as they got stuck into tons of fun lifestyle activities. Whilst there were honestly too many great innovations brought to the table, we wanted to share some favourites that really hit the mark! Princeton View in Victoria were inspired to make Lemon Coconut Protein Bliss Balls; a festive feast for the eye with a cheeky candy string that left resident...s dangling in anticipation for the next bite. Bass Hill NSW couldn’t stop at just one with their Protein Picnic that catered to all tastebuds. With everything from panna cotta snowmen, crispy veggie fritters, and a soft alternative rocky road there really was something for everyone. And finally, Smithfield in South Australia have come up with the idea of mini-mas, a selection of single serve seasonal favourites packed with protein like cheese scones and alternative trifles. Festive flavours you can still keep fit with! A big shout out to Medina Manor’s adorable chocolate reindeers, Camberwell Green’s strawberrry and banana smoothie, and Carinya’s equally delectable protein balls. Thank you to everyone who pitched in with effort and ideas. 01.01.2022 A Legacy of Learning Today we celebrate the story of Greenview residents Joan and her late husband Roy, who dedicated themselves to supporting clinical education at Epworth Richmond Hospital. After emigrating to Australia from the UK in the 1940's, the pair felt the calling to support the local hospital campus by donating funds and providing educational resources to improve the experience of staff and students.... I am very proud that we are able to support the research and teaching that goes on at Epworth. Joan says, "Pushing the boundaries of knowledge is so important to me, no matter if it’s in my studio or in a hospital library. Theirs and others donations to the now recognised Roy and Joan Mackenzie Library Endowment Fund provide annual funding for new books, journal subscriptions and the library's purchases that bolster Epworth's growing research activities. One of the reason we donated was that we worked hard on our own and we just wanted to give it to the right people.
