22.01.2022 SPAY INCONTINENCE management without drugs! Here are my thoughts based on my experiences with my little rescue boxer girl Faith. Updated 4th March 2019: - Feed ...as early as possible in the morning, especially if feeding two meals for the day, and the second meal earlier in the afternoon. Having solids in the system will create more pressure against the bladder, in turn increasing the risk of leaks. - Limit exercise and in turn water consumption before bed time. - CBD Oil (if legal in your country or state). - Certified Organic Apples - cheaper and healthier than most dog treats. Contact your local health shop or Ross Wilson at Coburg Health on 03 93548007 in Melbourne, Australia: - Pomegranate Seed Oil (drops) - Licorice and Schisandra (drops) Bonus for gut health and balance: - Kombucha - Sauerkraut - Kefir - Faith More info on the Ovary Sparing Spay to avoid Spay Incontinence: https://www.facebook.com/thedoghealthguy/videos/1383112855089584/ For all of the super cool links click here: https://linktr.ee/augustineapproved

07.01.2022 Nutritional deficiencies are still a common occurrence in companion animals, despite the claim by many pet foods that their diets are complete. Since iodine i...s the foundation block for maintaining metabolism and thyroid health, its important to ensure that your pet is receiving an adequate intake of bio-available iodine. Nutritional deficiencies are hard to detect in our pets, but if your pet is low on iodine, it can have a major impact on their general wellbeing and also have a dramatic impact on your pets thyroid. When iodine levels are too low, also known as hypothyroidism, weight, energy and mood imbalances are common. In order to avoid an iodine deficiency we sourced one of the most nutrient rich seaweed supplements available, that is high in the trace mineral iodine, and collected from the pristine beaches of King Island, Tasmania. Organic Seaweed is a highly absorbable seaweed, and completely free from fillers, colours or flavour enhancers. Organic Seaweed is rich in many nutrients including Vitamin A, B complex, C, E and trace minerals iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, selenium, iodine, copper, cobalt, sulphur and boron, also making it ideal for use as an extremely economical multi-vitamin supplement. Organic Seaweed is NASAA certified organic and can be used for cats, dogs, horses, as well as livestock; sheep, goats, cattle, chickens and pigs. Available in many pet stores Australia wide. Please follow this link to find a retailer near you: http://naturalanimalsolutions.com.au/Shop/find-retailer/ *All NAS products are developed for use in our own clinic, with a small range offered for retail sale. Benefits mentioned in this post are a direct result of research gained from our own patients and results seen in clinic. In some cases our research spans more than 10 years.

04.01.2022 Fermented Foods: Benefits & Cautions Following on from Tuesdays recipe for making fermented vegetables for your dog, heres a look at the incredible benefits... of feeding dog-friendly fermented foods, along with some important cautions to be aware of.... Fermented Vegetables Gut bacteria outnumber our cells 10 to 1. When our gut is not healthy, we are not healthy. Benefits: -10 trillion beneficial bacteria per 4-6 ounce serving. -Increases the bioavailability of nutrients in the rest of the meal by 200%. -The plants are pre-digested by the beneficial microbes, therefore easily digested by your dog. -Improves digestion. -Heals the gut & its flora, positively impacting the health of the dogs immune system (80% of which resides in the gut). -Assists some immunocompromised dogs. -Less sugar in fermented vegetables. -Oxalic acids are far less after fermentation. -Lowered goitrogens after fermentation. -Has been shown to help GAP syndrome (look at Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBrides work for more on this). -Restores beneficial gut flora after antibiotic use. -Helps relieve: IBS, colitis, leaky gut/dysbiosis, stomach ulcers, diabetes, yeast infections. -Is a source of vitamins: B1, B6, B9, C and K. -Rich source of antioxidants and phytonutrients. -Provides some manganese, magnesium & potassium. Find our recipe: https://www.facebook.com//a.17969441438/1821824698076329/ Cautions: -Start Slow: Introduce fermented vegetables into the diet slowly to avoid rapid "die off" of bad bacterias, which are taxing for the body to expel in large numbers. -Thyroid: Whilst goitrogenic activity is reduced in fermented cruciferous vegetables, if you have a dog diagnosed with thyroid dysfunction, especially hyperthyroidism, its best to avoid using cruciferous vegetables. -Salt: Some dogs cannot handle even small amounts of salt or the histamines in salt-based ferments. Dont worry, you can use celery juice or kefir whey in place of salt. ________ Milk Kefir Benefits: -Powerful probiotic, containing over 30 different strains of beneficial yeasts. -150+ billion colony-forming units are present per tablespoon of kefir. -Finished Kefir is 99% Lactose-free. -Kefir directly colonises the digestive tract and gut with beneficial bacteria. -Its probiotics can support, rebalance, modulate and heal the gut. -Benefits immune health, and thereby overall health. -Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. -Removes candida yeast overgrowth from the body. -Rich in short-chain fatty acids, nourishing the brain and its development. -Rich in tryptophan, an amino acid benefiting the heart, calming anxious behaviours, and aiding those with cognitive impairment. -Can help modulate the immune responses in autoimmune individuals. Find our recipe here: https://www.facebook.com//a.17969441438/1935837346675063/ Cautions: -Casein: Whilst Kefir is basically lactose-free, casein levels remain. Not all dogs digest or handle casein very well in their system, some dogs may be allergic (casein allergies in dogs is frequently assumed as lactose intolerance). For this reason I always recommend lower casein milk options such as Camels or Goats milk. -Ideally milk kefir for your dog should be made from raw milk, preferably from a pasture-raised animal. This effects the fatty acids, minerals and vitamins in the milk as well as digestibility when you dog consumes it. _______ Cultured Raw Butter Benefits: -Provide vitamins D, E, K2. -Minerals including manganese, zinc, copper and selenium. -Rich in short & medium chain fatty acids. -Supports metabolism & immune function. -Anti-tumour properties. -High in iodine. Find our recipe here: https://www.facebook.com//a.17969441438/1799082910350508/ Cautions: Not suitable for dogs with: -Fatty liver disease. -Pancreatitis or prone to bouts of. -Diabetes. -Copper storage syndrome. -May not be suitable for hyperthyroid dogs. _______ Fermented Pumpkin Seeds Benefits: -Natural parasite preventative. -Pre & probiotics. -Helps regulate insulin. -Rich in Magnesium. -Great source of Zinc. -Contains ALA, alpha linolenic acid. -Rich in tryptophan. -Pre-digested. Find our recipe here: https://www.facebook.com//a.17969441438/1818888201703312/ Cautions: -Prone to rancidity if left to ferment longer than 48 hours (if in humid locations, dont ferment longer than 18-24 hours). -Prone to rancidity if large batches are made and stored. Ensure you make small batches and use them up within 7 days. -Not suitable to be fed all the time, may damage kidneys after daily long-term feeding. _______ Canine Ascension #rawfeeding #rawfed #caninenutrition #rawdogfood #rawfeddog #canineascension #dogfood #workingdogs #fitdog #carnivores #holisticdogcare #holisticdogfood #fermentation #ferment #sauerkraut #fermentedvegetables #fermentedveg #dogfriendly #fermentedpumpkinseeds #kefir #fermentsfordogs
