25.01.2022 Pest controllers just spray everything in their way without a thought or care, right? Wrong! Any good pest controller actually has a passion for insects and only wants to control certain insects from entering your home. We had a call out this week to treat a termite nest in an elk horn. When we arrived we surveyed the situation and soon discovered that the termite nest was actually a native bee hive. 21.01.2022 Rendered walls look fantastic but did you know they can create a way termites can gain concealed entry? In this picture you can see the physical barrier that was installed when the house was built but by putting the rendering over the top of it they have now created a way termites can breach this without being seen. This video was sent to us by @ironbarkconstruction while out on a job site. He noticed that termite alates were flying around. He then discovered the nest. Termites are going to be making colonising flights over the next few months. If you are seeing these then it indicates that a nest is close by and it would be recommended for a termite inspection as soon as possible. 20.01.2022 This year has been a big journey for a lot of people. Our year has been a difficult journey not only because of COVID-19. We have had other battles as well that we have had to contend with. Gavin has had health problems which resulted in a hospital visit. Our emails had been hacked and deleted and a defamation case where we and some of our customers were verbally attacked. Because of this we have been a bit slow in replying to our customers and unfortunately we have lost so...me of the enquires that had come through which we are deeply sorry for. In saying that we have been working feverishly to rectify these issues which has led us to hire an office super star. We would like to introduce you to our newest recruit Alyce. 18.01.2022 Can you spot the termite nest? Termites can nest any where, at this property there were 3 nests located in different parts of this rock retaining wall. They built these nest here not because of a food source but because of the moisture that is sitting behind the retaining wall from the rain. Termite inspections are vital in identifying conducive conditions and how to minimise potential threats. This year is a bad year for termites already. This year has had its ups and downs and certainly gave all of us a roller coaster ride but it has also taught us some important lessons in getting back to what matters. 14.01.2022 Did you know at this time of year termite alates will be making their colonising flights? They make their flights when the humidity is high (typically just before or after rain) and what they will search for is a high moisture spot and a partner. When they have found this they will start making a nest like they did in these photos. They nested underneath an old rubber mat. With all the rain we have just experienced there have been many colonising flights that have been made a...nd the termites will be working at building new nests. Over the next few weeks to months there will be a high risk of termite infestations.
