19.01.2022 ALMA is proud to announce that our 2018 Annual Conference will be held in New Zealand for the first time. It will be in the beautiful Hanmer Springs in the South Island just north of Christchurch. Dates are Friday 21 to Sunday 23 September 2018. This is a preliminary announcement, more detail will be posted on our website later.

Dear Friends, Today, my colleagues and I are writing an open letter to the Federal Government and Opposition, expressing our support for the Safe Schools Coalition Australia, a program designed to create inclusive, supportive and safe education spaces for young people who identify as same sex attracted, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer or questioning (LGBTQI+).... Given that LGBTQI+ youth experience higher rates of suicide, mental illness, isolation and victimization, we feel it is incumbent on us as health professionals to advocate for programs that promote their health and wellbing. We are calling on health professionals across disciplines and health sciences students to lend their support to the Safe Schools Coalition Australia. 11.01.2022 The Hobart COS is working hard to put together an awesome conference for 2016 (16,17,18 Sept). We have high standards on the COS and nothing less than THE BEST EVER will suffice. We have just confirmed some exciting drawcard speakers, and feel confident we can deliver an excellent and high quality programme, as well as some fun social and networking times. Hobart itself is a special location, with all the venues for the conference and accommodation options within easy walking... distance in the historic harbour area. And of course MONA we have found time for a visit to MONA in the programme. The accommodation brochure will be available on the website http://www.almas.org.au/ Please note that if you wish to stay at the conference venue - the beautiful historic Henry Jones Art Hotel http://www.thehenryjones.com/ - they require full payment at the time of booking, with a full cancellation refund up to 30 days prior. There are limited rooms available at Henry Jones, so if you think you will be staying there I would advise booking ASAP. Never fear though, there are multiple options within a short walk of the conference venue.
