25.01.2022 Expanding our learners’ awareness of simple tense verbs can help them to expand their English quite quickly. Learning involves step-by-step sequencing which, with adults, can be helped with templates like this. I wish you all the best in helping your class to brainstorm and practise English pronouns and new verbs. ALNS' Vocab Builder - Simple Verb Tenses is available as a .pdf and/or MS Word file. 25.01.2022 It goes without saying that planning plays a key role in teaching effectively. This document includes a sample that maps out the elements involved in a program. As a new teacher or course designer, planning to this level of detail can be helpful. The A3 format provides more room to note things down. Due to the size of the sheet, ALNS' [ 217 more words ] http://www.alns.com.au/produ/alns-a3-course-lesson-planner/

24.01.2022 With a little bit of fear and trepidation, ALNS is taking its tutoring online! In response to a client wanting to learn at a distance, we've had our learning curve. Using computer and phone or tablet/iPad, it is possible to tutor people anywhere. If you'd like to explore how this could help you expand your literacy and/or numeracy skills - for pleasure or work - please get in contact. https://www.alns.com.au

16.01.2022 In the last 4 months, ALNS has started helping adults in organisations develop literacy and numeracy skills. Throughout this process, we continue focusing upon the learner first. When sessions are paced according to the learner's needs, in a way that lets him/her shape what is studied - ahead of any timeline an employer can set it’s amazing how confidence, skillsets and achievements flourish. Interested in exploring this? Please get in contact. Fran https://www.alns.com.au

15.01.2022 Working out the times that are available for study and practice can be powerful. It helps learners organise their schedule and commit to a study regime. This Planner caters to those whose commitments push study out to later hours. ALNS' Weekly Study Planner - 7am to 10pm is available in .pdf and/or MS Word formats. Due to the nature of the online environment, it is not possible to provide a pre-purchase view of this resource. [ 187 more words ] http://www.alns.com.au//alns-weekly-study-planner-7am-10pm/

11.01.2022 Transitioning Adult L&N Learners into Further Training and/or Work Roles.... I recently had the chance to talk with a business client about transitioning their L&N learners into further work and/or training. Click here or click on the image to the right to download or view the handout I created. The transition process, especially at work, is powerful; it can see learners going public with their skills for the first time. Within this, there can be a lot of stressors, many of which organisers can be unaware of. Feel free to share this handout or use it as a guide in transitioning your learners by visiting my website, alns.com.au. L&N skills development is a courageous step from which businesses can also feed into and grow.

11.01.2022 It goes without saying: feedback can be instrumental in helping us prepare effective lessons. Teachers can be shy about receiving feedback, yet it can help us enormously. Asking your learners for guidance boosts their confidence and readiness to share what they know. ALNS' Feedback about Today's Class is available in .pdf and/or MS Word formats. Due to the nature of the online environment, it is not possible to provide a pre-purchase view of this resource. [ 187 more words ] http://www.alns.com.au/product/alns-feedback-todays-class/

10.01.2022 My latest publication outlines how low literacy & numeracy skill levels can affect workplace outcomes. It's amazing to see how widespread these issues are in Australia. My handout seeks to outline how sponsoring L&N skills development can add value. To read it in full, visit my website: alns.com.au

09.01.2022 This document serves as a companion to ALNS’ English Verb Tenses - An Overview. You can also purchase practice templates for present and future tense verb forms. This resource aims to help teachers primarily but could be appropriate for some learners. It summarises all the past tenses of English and provides space to practise them in. Visually, it portrays the relativities between each past tense to promote understanding. [ 261 more words ] http://www.alns.com.au//alns-english-verbs-past-tense-pra/

06.01.2022 Woo Hoo! I have FINALLY launched my online shop for Adult Literacy & Numeracy Services. It's a bit of a first in that I'm developing a library of resources that help L&N teachers prepare for class and swot up on grammar efficiently. There are heaps of resources that address the learners' needs but not so many created for the teacher who needs help. The range is very much the beginnings of a bigger pool - each resource takes weeks and months to create and test. Feel free t...o visit http://www.alns.com.au to check it all out and spread the word. Thank you for all of your help and support! Fran xxx

05.01.2022 Understanding all the options for future tense verbs really expands our use of English. Discussing such things also helps literacy & numeracy teachers guide students in creating texts. This, in turn, positively affects a learner’s ability to express him/herself. This document serves as a companion to ALNS’ English Verb Tenses - An Overview. Practice templates are available for past and present verb tenses, too. [ 288 more words ] http://www.alns.com.au//alns-english-verbs-future-tense-p/

03.01.2022 This template helps students to expand their repertoire of nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Students can experience amazing growth by learning little things like this. By writing down a noun, adjective, verb or adverb; brainstorming its derivatives; and encouraging the use of dictionaries and thesauri, we can show learners all sorts of things. ALNS' Vocab Builder - Detailed is available as a .pdf and/or MS Word document. [ 207 more words ] http://www.alns.com.au/product/alns-vocab-builder-detailed/

02.01.2022 This document helps you to plan your lessons and identify what you’ll need at each stage. It’s designed to help you list all the elements that you will require in class. A sample is provided in case you’re new to lesson planning. Use as much detail as you believe is sufficient. ALNS' A4 Lesson Planner is available as a .pdf and/or MS Word file. 02.01.2022 After what seems like months (it is actually!), I've launched a new literacy & numeracy resource this week. ALNS' English Phonemes and How to Spell Them lists all the ways you can spell each vowel and consonant sound. Adult learners often get stuck with sounds, thinking they're supposed to correspond to English letters. This resource helps teachers reconnect with how we can spell each sound in order to integrate that into lesson plans. To read more about it, buy it or check other ones out, visit my website alns.com.au.
