17.01.2022 Piper, Alex, Suzanne and Red all arrived as scheduled at the weekend along with a fifth. This extra inmate is of unknown sexual orientation so as a transgender ( at this stage anyway) it must surely be Sophia! ( ..... and a really big thank you to Rhonda and Steve for the hens. They are absolutely perfect!. Look forward to plenty of farm fresh eggs over the coming months) http://alpacacino.com/2016/07/27/update-on-the-new-arrivals
17.01.2022 Inspired to a recent trip to Las Vegas I have decided that cards could be in my future...or rather carding. The new fiber carding machine has turned up and after some minor modifications and adjustments appears to be working with great results!. Alpacacino can now produce picked, washed and carded fleeces ready to spin and hopefully will soon be selling to fiber artists, spinners, weavers and knitters everywhere. 16.01.2022 It seems Spring has definitely sprung here at the farm and we feeling the full wrath of the angry black and white Army (or rather Air force!). We are not talking disappointed Collingwood supporters failing to make it to the end of September but rather dive bombing testosterone fueled magpies! One has taken up residence as a sniper just outside the house pinning us down and waiting for us to leave the front door. [ 83 more words ] http://alpacacino.com/2016/09/26/under-attack
16.01.2022 With all of the chaos of a three ring circus somehow 23 residents and 8 guests ended up with clean teeth, trimmed toenails and a lot less fleece than they came with. The pop up shearing shed complete with big top may not win any architectural awards but has tonnes of functionality. All that for 6 hours of frenzied activities.... and where does it leave us.. with three bags full!!. http://alpacacino.com//dont-be-fooled-by-the-size-of-the-m
14.01.2022 Its almost to the very day that we last reported we were under attack from black and white aerial insurgents. Today their first act of hostilities across our territorial lines has taken place again. Diplomatic negotiations seem to be breaking down and I suspect they now have good intel from maybe someone on the " inside" as they wait for me to go into the shed, take up a strategic position in the neighboring tree and spiral down straight at me with the determination of a world war 2 fighter pilot as soon as i come out again - gives me the big frighten! 14.01.2022 Yes it true! A full on Brit of blue blood lineage has come to stay at the farm. Born to Sir Harry Fergusson in 1956 and from a strong working class background, this jewel of the British Empire has grown up to become one of England's most respected elite. She may be a little bit plain in her looks and somewhat frumpy in her frame but to me she is a real princess. [ 43 more words ] http://alpacacino.com/2016//15/a-royal-fergie-comes-to-stay
13.01.2022 After weeks of calm on the farm, within days of each other Alpacas and hens are back in the spotlight. Sophie our transgender hen ( or possibly was just a rooster all along) had taken to assaulting the guards. Sharon was spotted a couple of times fending off the squawking, wing flapping angry beak of Sophie and despite counseling ( the hen not Sharon!) , the bad behavior continued. 09.01.2022 Well winter is around the corner and as the spotlight falls on the necessity of scarves and gloves, we at the farm are pleased to say we have donated a fine black Alpaca fleece to the crafty women at the Buninyong Probus Club to help them take on the international competition in the Creative Scarf Festival at the National Wool Museum's annual celebration of all things scarf. 06.01.2022 I cant believe its been over 12 months since last posting. Maybe its because the magpies have not been around this year to remind me, maybe its because I am too preoccupied with life underground in the gold mine or maybe its that life goes past just to damn fast!. Whatever the case, the situation needed rectifying. So with no further promises.. [ 224 more words ] http://alpacacino.com///29/has-it-really-been-over-a-year/
06.01.2022 In the true spirit of Xmas we have now given the best summer present of all to the 'pacas at Alpcacino - a haircut!. In total we shaved, clipped and jabbed around 37 Alpacas including visitors from the neighborhood amassing over 70kg of fleece Next task on the list is to turn the raw fleece into a finely carded fiber ready for home spinning. 02.01.2022 As Henry Lawson once alluded to, if anyone is going to talk with great confidence on a subject they have little knowledge of, its probably a Geologist ! And in my case its no different, though this time this geological spieler is not pontificating about rocks and railways. Instead I have been waxing lyrical on the wonders of Alpaca wool!!!
