25.01.2022 Um. Wow! We are so excited to announce that last night we were the recipient of the national Veterinary Business of the year award! To have the commitment and dedication of our teams, and our business recognised by our peers is truly humbling. This award belongs to each and every one of our team who give so much to care for our patients each day. We really are so lucky to work with such inspirational people.... To our amazing clients of Alphington and Fairfield Thank you for trusting us to care for your pets since we opened 3 years ago. It is a privilege. #hawthorneastvet #kewvetandcattery #alphingtonandfaifieldvet #bestteamever
22.01.2022 Little Riley is still missing!!!! Please if anyone has any information let us know!!! His humans are so devastated and this year has been hard enough as it is without this. Thankyou amazing AFV family
22.01.2022 The face of true love. This beautiful bean was more than happy to pose for a picture after a visit in the consulting room!
19.01.2022 Just a reminder we will be closed this weekend until 8.30am Wednesday 14th October. We promise this is the last time! We sincerely thank you all for your patience while we have renovated. It hasn't been the easiest navigating the renovation during lockdown but we are almost there! We might not look much different from the street but we have extended out the back creating some great new spaces to care for your pets. We cannot wait to show you our new clinic.
16.01.2022 Words cannot describe just how amazing our clients are
15.01.2022 Its #mondaybunday Taco the bunny came in to see Dr Louise and Dr Tina for his health check, vaccinations and desexing. Desexing your bunny is strongly recommended for both boys AND girls - Male bunnies such as Taco are MUCH more likely to develop nasty skin issues around their scrotal skin as they age and by desexing we eliminate the risk of testicular cancers as well as some less desirable hormone-linked behaviours.... We think Taco is pretty special and so do his humans!
15.01.2022 NEW STAFF ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!! MEET CELINE... Celine joins us after working at various Melbourne practices. She lives with her beautiful canine companion Bailey and her Bluey Clyde (both pictured!) Celine has a passion for canine behaviour and training as well as anaesthesia and surgical nursing! We are thrilled to have her join us now that we have a dedicated much more spacious surgical suite. ... In her non animal time you will find her as a bit of a petrol head - a car enthusiast and dirt bike rider who loves a good camping trip. Please make her feel welcome as part of our AFV family!
15.01.2022 Who doesn't love a posing puppy!? Beautiful Bernie came in for his puppy checks and his mum sent us in some gorgeous pictures of this little man. Love at first sight!
14.01.2022 Has anyone seen this little guy? Apparently he has been seen around Alphington. Please keep an eye out. (Owners contact details are on photo if you click on it)
14.01.2022 Gorgeous little man Rupert came in to see us for a health check and we found some not so lovely teeth. He will be coming in for a professional dental clean under anesthesia which includes assessment for extractions and dental radiographs! Did you know that without radiographs we miss most of what is going on with our teeth!? Assessing the crowns and the gums is handy but combining this with pictures of what is happening in the bone makes for a complete exam of our mouth. And means we can do a better job at saving as many teeth as possible and keeping those pearly whites pristine.
13.01.2022 We are so close to finishing and can’t wait to show off our new extended spaces when Covid restrictions ease and we can allow clients back into the clinic. To help us finish a few outstanding jobs we will be closed from today and reopen on Tuesday 29th September at 8.30am. We can be reached at Kew vet. Thanks for your understanding.
11.01.2022 Last week we shared an amazing morning tea celebrating our fabulous vet nurses - Pictured we have Celine, Kirstie June and Kim - Toni, Rochelle and Jo were not able to join us on the day.... But we ate cake for them too! And at least the desk was manned by a worker during our snack time (Nurse Kim's daughter Harriet)
10.01.2022 #mondaybunday These beautiful rescue buns are now living the life with their humans! Juno and Nibbles are so very blessed to have such an amazing life! Bunnies are incredible pets and these two are no exception!

07.01.2022 NEW STAFF MEMBER ALERT!!! MEET CASSIE!!! Cassie has joined us after a career change and an initial start to the industry at another clinic. She qualified this year as a Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse and joined the dream team here at AFV.... She has a particular interest in pathology and diagnostics and looks forward to learning with us and becoming Queen of the microscope. When not at work Cassie loves baking (handy as we all love eating), travelling (when we can) and spoiling Jensen, her beautiful GSD - pictured here with her. Please make Cassie feel welcome and say hi next time you are in!

06.01.2022 Check out how we are adapting to easing restrictions on our blog http://hawthorneastvet.com.au//coronavirus-update-easing-/
06.01.2022 Beautiful Guinea Pig Pamela came in today to see Dr Louise with a sore eye. The culprit..... a nasty blade of hay that was sitting in the corner of the eye rubbing on the cornea. The big huge green shiny ulcer is seen with the purple light - no wonder she was sore! She has gone home with some eye drops and pain relief and will be back next week to check everything is healing for her.
05.01.2022 Anyone seen Cherry? She was last seen in Northcote.
04.01.2022 Did you know that Dr Tina has a HUGE obsession with all things Bird!? Dr Tina has a keen interest in avian species and is happy to talk bird with anyone who asks. We see many species from parrots to poultry and are more than happy toe help with your feathered friends.
