25.01.2022 Alpine Rally of East Gippsland Deputy Clerk of Course Steve Hollowood has done a cupboard cleanout during lockdown and discovered he has a complete set of Alpine caps going back to the first HRA run event in 2001. Who else has all the caps? Check it out on our website. https://alpinerally.org.au/alpine-caps-from-2001/ #alpinerally100

25.01.2022 Not Just Fences! The BlazeAid Trillions of Paddock Trees Program rolls out this week from our camps in the Upper Murray. This initiative aims to replace Paddock... trees lost to fires, drought and years of clearing. Paddock trees provide significant benefits for farmers including shelter from the elements for livestock and improvements to soil conditions as well as salinity and erosion management. The environmental benefits are also far reaching with shelter, protection and nesting sites provided to native wildlife. An exciting new partnership between BlazeAid and Albury company Plastic Forests gives us the ability to enhance our focus on environmental issues further with this project. Plastic Forests is an award winning Australian company which specializes in manufacturing recycled plastic products made from used soft plastics. We are trialing their innovative new pickets in this project. Volunteers are needed to plant trees in both Jingellic and Walwa starting this Wednesday. If you want to come and give a day or a few hours please phone Natalie Trigwell on 0497 717 605. Be sure to read our attached Weekly Update and contact Camp CoOrdinator Natalie Trigwell for further details. Email: [email protected] Mobile: 0497 717605

24.01.2022 Can't wait to go back into East Gippsland and get some work done on the route for the centenary Lock & Load Alpine Rally in 2021. Great photo of the silt jetties from Lakes Entrance Helicopters. #alpinerally100

23.01.2022 Photos from the 2019 Alpine Rally of East Gippsland. This years edition had its challenges, with bushfires in the Bruthen area not far from the Lakes Entrance ...base meaning the cancellation of some Friday stages and the entirety of Sunday. The organisers did a fantastic job of getting the event to still go ahead with all the issues put to them! Friday saw some proper dust at a Victorian Rally for the first time in a while, but Saturday true Victorian weather came through with an absolute downpour! Like the 2017 Alpine, the organisers were left with the tough but understandable decision to cancel a couple of the stages. Despite the drama, another fantastic event, highlighted by a supreme drive from Nathan Quinn & Ray Winwood-Smith in the Mazda RX2 to take a great win. Thanks to all the organisers and officials for braving the conditions. Please give the page a like to keep up to date, and feel free to tag & share as Facebook has changed some settings making no longer possible to tag people in photos myself. 21.01.2022 As well as creating an Alpine winners gallery we have been working on a list of all the organising teams of the Alpine Rallies all the way back to the first one in 1921. There's still a few gaps so if you can help with any info let us know. #alpinerally100 https://alpinerally.org.au/alpine-herita/alpine-organisers/

19.01.2022 On this day 12 months ago, the fires that ravaged our area began. Little did we know that 39days on they would still be burning and with such a devastating outcome.

17.01.2022 We have looked at the WorksFords that ran in the Alpine lets have a look at some of the other privateer cars that have competed from the early 70s to the late 80s. This just a small sample. #alpinerally

16.01.2022 An Alpine quiz. We have put up a gallery of door panels from the pre 2001 Alpine Rallies. Some of the years are missing but weve got most of them. Your task is to match the door panel with the year. We have modified the panels that had the year displayed on them. Most of them we know for sure, some are still under investigation. #alpinerally100

15.01.2022 Today we are looking back at 2013 when Alister McRae entered the Alpine in his brand new Escort RS1800. The car was immediately very fast and proved to be extremely reliable in its first ever event. While leading the event on the second day Alister made a rare mistake and went off the road damaging the left rear of the car and losing about 8 minutes. After getting the car going again and doing some emergency repairs at the next service he completed the day and spent a larg...e part of Saturday night repairing the damage. He then spent all of Sunday taking time back from the leader Jeff David in his Porsche. Unfortunately the day wasnt long enough and Jeff held his nerve to take a well deserved win by 3 minutes and 2 seconds. 15.01.2022 The two drivers with the most Alpine Rally wins are Geoff Portman and Greg Carr on six wins each. Here's a gallery showcasing the cars they won with as well as some of the cars they didn't win in.

09.01.2022 Please Share- Help needed for Trillions of Paddock Trees planting pilot program into East Gippsland after the fires. Paddock trees are gradually being lost afte...r long droughts, fires, old age and being blown over by the wind in soft ground and we need to have a replacement program. We are seeking one or more farms registered with blazeaid in East Gippsland from these blazeaid bases Bruthen Buchan Cann River Wulgulmerang to have paddock trees planted and guarded by volunteers at NO cost to you - please call me now on 0418530471 BlazeAid at a cost of $20 per paddock tree will supply ALL Fencing / guards PLUS the trees and do all the work for FREE to you- you simply point out where you want the individual trees planted. ( On my 1500 acre farm over the last 25 years I have gone for paddock trees planted 100-150 metres apart with great success and now have heaps of shade, aesthetic beauty of a mix of Eucalypts and local wattles with NO loss of grass- my neighbor Brian has done the same over 3000 acres) BlazeAid volunteers are currently planting trees on local farms from Walwa BlazeAid and Jingelic BlazeAid but Corryong BlazeAid has said it is unable to take the extra several volunteers to help plant trees there. Also, If you know where we can source local tree tube stock, please phone the blazeaid coordinator and tell them Also if you have any old steel posts from the fire, we would be most grateful for them to reuse as well as the fantastic Plastic Forests tree guards please. I have reused thousands of steel posts from the 2009 Black Sat fires for this purpose- simply bang them in upside down ( firstly, bench press drill a hole for wire beforehand in your shed or angle grind a cut for wire) Many thanks Kevin Butler BlazeAid President 0418530471 OR [email protected] AND follow us on Facebook - search for ‘blazeaid’ Photo shows ten year old paddock trees planted with ample random spacing on my kilmore east farm

One of the achievements that goes with this is the creation of the Winners Gallery. We currently have 37 images of past Alpine winners, some of which are being seen publicly for the first time. Check it out on the link below. #alpinerally100 https://alpinerally.org.au/alpine-champions-gallery/

07.01.2022 The sport of Rallying has many wonderful elements to it, not least of which is the strong family connections that can be found at all levels. Here is a photo of Mike Reeves and Dave Proctor attacking the Hume Weir Racing Circuit stage of the 1987 Alpine Rally. Mike is a former Victorian Rally Championship winner and father of Nathan, Rhiannon and Brendan Reeves who have all made their mark on the sport and the Alpine. #alpinerally100

07.01.2022 We have looked at lots of car photos in these historical Alpine Rally posts so now its time to have a look at photos of some of the people over the years that have been involved with the Alpine Rally. 03.01.2022 Today our focus is on George Fury.George competed in the Alpine Rally many times from the 1970s until his last event in 1990 which was his only Alpine victory. He also drove quite a diverse range of cars over the years from a Mk1 Cortina to a 4wd Turbo Mitsubishi VR4 but his best remembered Alpine car was the mighty 120y built by Jamie Drummond. We have managed to collect a few pictures from his years on the Alpine but feel free to add yours to the memories here. #alpinerally100 Photo Credits Vic Hughes, Brent Fletcher, Chris Robson, Barry Stewart.

03.01.2022 Today we feature a car that is synonymous with both the Alpine Rally and the great George Fury. Built by the late Jamie Drummond it featured some interesting and highly effective engineering. It never won an Alpine but came agonisingly close. Enjoy this small selection of photos from 1982 through to 1986. #alpinerally100

02.01.2022 Let's go way back to the early years of the Alpine this week when the event was called a 1000 mile trial and used many roads in both Victoria and NSW in the Alpine areas as well as the coastal Gippsland areas. 2021 will be the Centenary of this iconic event and as part of celebrating this milestone we have collected many more pictures and articles from the Alpines of the past on our website. https://alpinerally.org.au/alpine-heritage/ #alpinerally100
