I...t comes from his "Kinderlight" Suite, and as York acknowledges, this piece serves as a nod to the famous Gymnopedies by Erik Satie. With the incredibly tranquil atmosphere achieved by this piece, we wanted to do something different to match this, and so we decided to put together another outdoor shoot! (albeit a very impromptu one.) This was also partly due to the renewed Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) that was recently announced, so we decided to get some video before the new measures came into effect. Acclaimed by international radio FIP as the ambassador for classical guitar worldwide , Jérémy Jou...ve multiplies international tours, recordings, and collaborations with the greatest performers and composers. His studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Paris where he followed the teaching of the great masters Alberto Ponce and Roland Dyens, oriented him towards a committed and poetic approach to music, an incessant search for beautiful sounding, and a deep love and respect for the original compositions. In 2003, the GFA Prize opened the doors to a five-month North American tour and a first recording with Naxos records. He then released, in 2008 and 2011, with the same label, two albums devoted to the challenging work for solo guitar of Joaquín Rodrigo. Following this, a Melbay Concert Live DVD released in 2009 and a Reference Recordings album, Traveling Sonata, with flutist Viviana Guzman, nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2012. 04.01.2022 Hello from our jury member Kai Nieminen, Finland He studied the guitar at the Conservatory of Central Finland and the Sibelius Academy and musicology at the ...University of Jyväskylä Nieminen has composed a number of orchestral works. He is especially known for his concertos, e.g. for the flute (Palomar, 2001), clarinet (Through Shadows I Can Hear Ancient Voices, 2002), violin (‘Il viaggio del cavaliere... (inexistente)’, 2005), piano (Reflections In the Enchanted Waves of Time, 2005), oboe (Somni de Gaudi, 2008), guitar (‘If on a Winter's Night a Traveller’, 2009) as well as cello and accordion (Marcovaldo, 2012). His list of works also includes vocal music, a wealth of chamber music and works for solo instruments especially the guitar, his own instrument. Nieminen has composed three symphonies. The first, ‘La Selva’, which was commissioned by the Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä and premiered on 13 November 2013 under the baton of Patrick Gallois. Symphony No. 2 'Nello specchio della notte' was premiered in 2015 at the Sääksmäki Soi Festival. The third symphony will have its premiere by the Joensuu Orchestra on 22 October 2020. Nieminen does not fill his score to the brim but instead allows the instruments room to breathe. The delicate, fragile and airy texture of his orchestral works is often more in the nature of intimate chamber music allowing the various instruments to express their intrinsic characteristics and timbres. www.itsaboutthetouch.com

Every interview is paired with a short performance, so I was delighted to be able to present the Prelude from the Second Cello Suite, BWV 1008 by the one and only Johann Sebastian Bach. The second suite is not played on the guitar as often as it should and I've been meaning to make a comeback with this particular work which carries an incredible intensity and yet must be approached with tender sensibility.
