23.01.2022 Polyethylene is one of the most popular plastics today - from plastic containers, bottles, bags to plastic toys; everywhere we look, we see most of the plastic items made of polyethylene. Polyethylene is a lightweight and durable thermoplastic. With common types of Polyethylene being LDPE, HDPE and HMWPE. - Low-density Polyethylene (LDPE) is used for items such as grocery bags, films, wraps, squeezey bottles, and disposable gloves.... - High-density Polyethylene (HDPE) is used for items such as playground equipment, outdoor furniture and cutting boards - Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) we use for star wheels, guide rails and bearings, to name a few. Most of Alternative Engineerings Polyethylene manufacturing is done with HDPE and UHMWPE as they are both strong and chemically resistant plastics which can be used across a number of industries. 21.01.2022 Nylon, or what is referred to as PA (ie: PA 6/66), is a commonly used engineering plastic. You might be familiar with Nylon as it is used in ropes and clothing such as stockings/tights. However, it is fantastic when used in a number of engineering applications. Nylon is exceptionally strong, relatively abrasion, moisture and chemically resistant, elastic and easy to wash. It is a great substitute for low strength metals. It doesnt need to be lubricated and can stand high-t...emperature environments. As well as being great to replace low strength metals, Nylon is also able to be extruded and is, therefore, a good plastic for both injection moulding and 3D printing. http://ow.ly/kRc450tZp6a #nylon #engineeringplastic #engineers
