23.01.2022 Sail Bellarine 2021 VIODA is delighted to announce that the inaugural Sail Bellarine event is being planned for the 1st and 2nd of May 2021. The organiser obje...ctive is to emulate the successful formula developed by the Sail Country team - a social event aimed at all sailing generations with a focus on having fun, hanging out with your sailing buddies and having some awesome racing on one of Victoria’s most beautiful sailing locations. This new event is a joint collaboration between Indented Head YC, Port Arlington YC and St. Leonard’s YC - three clubs on the Bellarine peninsula. A great opportunity for Optimist sailors to sail with Optimist champion Aidan Simmons and his brother Callum in their home club! The organisation is putting together a program that provides an exciting racing schedule over two days together with plenty of opportunity to relax on the shores of Port Phillip Bay and enjoy some of the local treats such as wineries, cideries and gourmet foods and much more. For this first event, entries are restricted to Lasers, Optis, Tasars, Impulses and Sabres. The number of boats for this event will be capped at around 120 with separate caps for each of the different classes. There will be camping available right next to Indented Head YC thanks to Bayside Bellarine opening up their camping facilities exclusively for this event. There will also be lots of catering options on-site to allow participants to just turn up, pitch their tent/van and settle in for the weekend. The event will be 100% volunteer run so all volunteers who can assist are welcome and can get in touch with Phil Viney at [email protected] - he’d love to hear from you. The organisers anticipate that we’ll be opening up registrations early in the new year. In the meantime stay safe and feel free to reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.
