25.01.2022 The next time you roll your eyes at someone struggling with transition difficulties, remember how you handled the current global pandemic. As an autistic person..., being thrown off of my routine or an unexpected transition can be devastating for me and I cant help but think about the fact that the whole world is currently thrown off their routine and NOT handling it very well. This is a great teachable moment. There are not many scenarios where you can compare the general public to an autistic experience, but I personally feel that this is one of those few moments. If youre not autistic, think about this: Would it help you right now to hear oh its fine, just deal with it. Or, Thats life! Sometimes you just have to go with the flow! This is what people tell us when were struggling with transition... and I can personally tell you and confidently speak for a majority of the autistic community. IT DOES NOT HELP, just like it wouldnt help anyone right now. Acknowledgement/validation and acceptance helps a lot more.

24.01.2022 Please help me bring light and hope into the world. Share examples in the comments below of good humans and animals in these crazy chaotic and scary times. Fea...r can be diluted with compassion, love, kindness, awe, lightness, laughter and natural beauty. Kids pictures are most welcome - things that help us smile or laugh....uplifting music or songs....beautiful nature images especially of my favourite birds fairy wrens and owls. Lets be the change we want in our world. UPDATE.... OMG! You are the best FB village ever - so many heart-full gifts of joy and delight.......I am feeling so much better! 20.01.2022 "Children who truly have ADHD are some of the most creative and innovative people alive, but instead of focusing on what is going on inside their brain, we focu...s on what we see outside their brain. We focus on their behaviors. We worry about what others think. We worry about the schools they will not get into. We worry that they will end up failing. But here is the irony: While we are worrying about their failure, we have already set them up to fail." See more

17.01.2022 Happy international Womens day. The women I salute today are not celebrities, world leaders or famous achievers. I am in awe of the nameless unknown who change... the world every day by showering our children with love and kindness. Being the example to children of what equality is. Thst is our future. Being a mum is the absolute best part of being a woman for me. Be proud of the woman you are. Congratulate other women. And tell your daughters and sons that women can do anything and then prove that to them. "I am strong I am invincible I am woman " See more

16.01.2022 A new non-intrusive eye-scan, developed by researchers at Flinders University, could lead to earlier detection of autism in children.

15.01.2022 WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN MOVEMENT ACTIVITIES ARE REDUCED "Research continues to point out that young children learn best through meaningful play experiences, yet many preschools are transitioning from play-based learning to becoming more academic in nature."

15.01.2022 FINLANDS KINDERGARTENERS SPEND MUCH OF THEIR DAY PLAYING Play is a very efficient way of learning for children, she told me. And we can use it in a way that... children will learn with joy. The word joy caught me off guardIm certainly not used to hearing the word in conversations about education in America, where I received my training and taught for several years. But Holappa, detecting my surprise, reiterated that the countrys early-childhood education program indeed places a heavy emphasis on joy, which along with play is explicitly written into the curriculum as a learning concept. Theres an old Finnish saying, Holappa said. Those things you learn without joy you will forget easily.

06.01.2022 SO. MUCH. THIS! This letter from a middle school assistant principal says it all. "Parents: it is your number one job as a parent to get in your kids way at al...l times. Kids do not deserve privacy. You own their devices, not them. You should be having the hard conversations with them about life, relationships, their bodies, their futures, etc. It is your responsibility to provide social and emotional support, help build coping skills, and monitor their activities."
