22.01.2022 Lachy has coined the term ‘slaving.’ Mummy you’re slaving me whenever I ask him to do something. And when Charlotte was melting down about tidying her room, she stomped her foot and said: ‘it’s just not my thing.’ These topics and many more were discussed with parenting experts from @backontrackconsultancy in my podcast. Link in bio and look for the episode called Super cruisy or structured. Perfect if day to day parenting challenges are dragging you down. #healthyherpodcast #podcastone #northernbeachesmums #easternsuburbsmums #sydneyparents #wildkids @podcastoneau

19.01.2022 Seven Fathers Days for this Best Dad... life may have changed since kids but I know you wouldn’t change it for the world @tp.101

18.01.2022 I'm a fan of peanut butter as a post workout snack, especially the unprocessed brands that only use crushed peanuts. It contains all three macros (protein, carbs, healthy monounsaturated fat), it's affordable, accessible, and tastes deelish! Here are four simple post workout snacks to try.

A MASSIVE thanks to @arianna_jane @ambeeeeeeeeee @thepowerofbirth for putting the event on and all the amazing speakers @thewomenspsychologist @the.mummy.trainer @nicola_laye #PANDAfundraiser2020 #northernbeachesmums #healthyherpodcast #easternsuburbsmums #postnataldepression #postnatalanxiety #sydneymums

14.01.2022 Ski trips with kids can be the catalyst for many a meltdown (and I’m not talking about the kids!) but luckily this trip was absolute magic. @smigginshotel is the perfect spot for little skiers (and the advanced crew just hop on the Tbar to Perisher). Reasons I love Smiggins for families (and we’ve stayed everywhere); 1. The mountain: two magic carpets for true beginners (like my 2yo) that non skiers can watch from the cafe or log fire lounge. Then a small chairlift run that m...y 7 and 6yo now do on their own (yes NO adults go with them!). Plus Tbars and Jbars. Perfect for when the bigger ones want to go on their own. 2. The hotel: Its old school lodge style with a massive lounge, log fire and bar. Plus cafe, restaurant, and live music. Kids can run up to the room and back on their own. Interconnecting rooms. Or chalets nearby if you prefer your own kitchen. 3. Kids club: this is the game changer for us. We all sit by the fire from 4:30, then at 5:30 the crew come collect the kids, take them next door to the restaurant for dinner. 45min later they march past like ducklings and are taken down to kids club where they party all night while the parents have drinks and dinner in peace. Then collect them on way up to bed. Everyone wins! It’s all so convenient, and gets our vote for best family ski spot. 13.01.2022 New podcast ep live: Worried about a child’s weight? Sometimes it can be hard to tell by looking at a child if they an unhealthy weight for age and height. A child might look healthy and be overweight (or the other way around). So what should we do if we suspect a child or adolescent might be heading towards an unhealthy weight? How do we discuss it with the child or the parents? Is that even appropriate? How do we encourage healthy eating without the old fashioned way of say...ing ‘if you eat that you’ll get fat’ (which is a no-no BTW ). Paediatric endocrinologist Dr Gary Leong (aka Dr Koala) has dedicated his entire career (and PhD) to supporting families with weight issues. He sees hundreds of kids of all ages and is a wealth of knowledge in this very delicate, challenging balancing act of raising healthy kids with a strong body image. Fascinating episode, I’d love to know your thoughts on this delicate topic #healthyherpodcast #linkinbio #northernbeachesmums #easternsuburbsmums @podcastoneau See more

07.01.2022 According to recent research, 1 in 7 new mothers and 1 in 10 new fathers struggle with depression and anxiety. Due to the current unprecedented times we are living in, PANDA has experienced a 40% increase in helpline calls so fundraising is essential to keep these services available and free. So I’m chuffed to be speaking at the @pandanational fundraiser on my experiences as a Mum, coach of Mums, and podcaster. Open to QLD residents, only 17 tix left until sold out. If you can’t make it, support #PANDA by either donating or sharing this incredible support service for any new parent or parent-to-be. #northernbeachesmums #easternsuburbsmums #healthyherpodcast

07.01.2022 Ever since my podcast episode with neuroscientist Paul Taylor, I've been looking into brain health and Mums. As he explained pregnancy and that first year triggers the largest periods of 'synaptic pruning' (yes we lose brain cells!) after childhood. To support brain function, I've started taking TGA listed #rebrain by @visdonaustralia. Active ingredients include: Phosphatidylserine (PS), an FDA endorsed (meaning it works!) phospholipid to prevent cognitive decline. Docosahexa...enoic acid (DHA) algae oil; an omega-3 fatty acid, the primary structural component of the human brain, cerebral cortex, skin, and retina. Ginkgo Biloba Leaves Extract: Traditional herbs to support memory. If you ever get 'Mummy brain' or have a high pressure life, try these for 8 weeks. I've noticed a big difference! And yes this is sponsored but I only recommend products I've tried and loved. Please consult your health professional if you are pregnant or lactating #rebrain #linkinbio #brainhealth #Mummybrain #DHA #PS #ginkgobiloba #cognition #brainsupplements #cognition #supplements #healthyherpodcast See more

04.01.2022 We’re always on the hunt for the best deal, but prioritising local, small, businesses with strong values supports community. In my area @lovelocalavalon is a great platform promoting local businesses and the stories behind them. #shoplocal #buylocal #avalonbeach #northernbeachesmums

03.01.2022 You know that feeling... so much to do, so little motivation to do it?? Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s coz you haven’t slept properly since the 90s. When I feel like this I use something called the Pomodoro technique (named after the italian tomato timer). Set timer for 25min, with a 5min break. Eliminate all distractions (aeroplane mode etc). And I repeat the Dory mantra ‘just keep swimming.’ If that doesn’t work, have a nap! Do you have any tips to getting in the ‘todo’ mood??? #selfcare #toomuchtodo #northernbeachesmums #easternsuburbsmums #healthyherpodcast

01.01.2022 How often do couples have sex? I read some research recently that people in heterosexual relationships have sex an average of 1.4 times per week, and one in 5 have sex less than once a month. I’m sure these stats would be even lower for parents. Is a sexless relationship a sign that something’s wrong? What about sympathy sex, is that ok? Prioritising the other persons orgasm? These are some of the many questions I discussed with the incredible Dr Nikki Goldstein, a sexologist and relationship expert, who holds a doctorate degree in human sexuality. She’s has published books, podcasts and has twice been voted Australia’s best sex educator. A must listen if your sex life is feeling a bit beige or disconnected. @drnikkig @podcastoneau #healthyherpodcast #sydneysex #sydneysexshop #northernbeachesmums #easternsuburbsmums

01.01.2022 Recently spoke on @thetodayshow on Food Synergy; powerful food combos to boost bioavailability. *Turmeric and black pepper: Curcumin is an active ingredient in turmeric that has been shown to possess powerful anti-inflammatory properties. However curcumin is not easily absorbed by the body unless it is in the presence of piperine a compound found in black pepper. *Lemon and kale: Kale is a plant-based source of iron, which is non-heme and less bioavailable. Heme iron comes... from animal products, is more bioavailable but also more inflammatory and has been associated with coronary artery disease, colon cancer, and type 2 diabetes. To get your iron fix without using a disease-inducing source, you can pair your kale with Vitamin C-rich lemon, which comes in and cranks up iron absorption ninja style. *Tomato and avocado: Tomatoes contain the carotenoid lycopene, which may decrease the risk of some cancers. Healthy fats, like those in avocados, make carotenoids more bioavailable. As if we needed an excuse to dive into the guacamole! *Rainbow of fruit: A study out of Cornell University discovered that combinations of fruit resulted in greater antioxidant activity that was additive and synergistic. Based upon this, the authors recommended that to improve their nutrition and health, consumers should be getting antioxidants from a diverse diet. *Beef and broccoli: Plant sources of iron (non-heme) are not readily absorbed by the body. However when combined with animal iron (heme) absorption dramatically increases. Even a small 250g steak will increase plant based iron absorption up to 50%. *Salmon and red wine: Drinking wine with your fish boosts the benefits to your heart, a new study suggests. A glass or two of wine per day increases the amount of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids in a person's blood. The study found that those who drank in moderation had higher blood levels of omega-3 - even when intake of fish, the major dietary source of the fats, was taken into account. *Apple and dark choc: These two sweet treats paired together have the potential to improve your cardiovascular health. Apple skin contains the flavonoid quercetin which is anti-inflammatory. See more
