10.01.2022 Impromptu performance onstage from Black Joak Morris who for 15 years have been doing their ‘quasi-traditional’ Morris dancing outside on the street some Thursday nights. Tonight, we thought we’d invite them upstairs to treat us with The World’s Tiniest Dance

10.01.2022 The hirsute and steamy Robin Das Boot on our stage last week. If you wanted to hear a song, you should have been there :) The Friend In Hand Hotel Glebe

09.01.2022 This was lots of fun

09.01.2022 We will obviously be monitoring the situation and reassessing, but for now, this Thursday we will be...

04.01.2022 As of THURSDAY 19TH MARCH 2020, The Sit Down Comedy Club will not be scheduling or hosting any shows unless advised by the relevant State and Federal Government... bodies that it is safe to do so. We are continually monitoring the ongoing situation and will issue updates on potential shows as needed via our website at www.standup.com.au, in line with the advice and regulations issued by the relevant authorities. HELPING THE AUSTRALIAN COMEDY COMMUNITY With the cancellation of most (if not all) of the live comedy events & festivals throughout Australia, now is the time that Australia's comedy community really needs support - our nation’s entire entertainment industry is facing significant challenges with the livelihoods of huge numbers of artists, technical, box office, front of house, production and associated support staff impacted enormously by these extraordinary circumstances. Performers and support crew who never fail to lend their talents to fund-raisers when the community is in need, are now in need themselves as venues all over Australia like The Sit Down Comedy Club are having to close up shop. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival has set up a portal on their website that allows the public to make a contribution to support artists across these difficult times (as an alternative to or in place of purchasing a ticket) via www.comedyfestival.com.au. Have you got a favourite performer that you’d love to help out, but not sure how? All you need to do is search for the artist/show you would like to support on the MICF website and add as many $5 tickets to your basket for their Sunday 19 April performance. Alternatively, comedy lovers and supporters can make a general tax-deductible donation to support the wider comedy industry and support staff via the 2020 MICF Festival Fund at https://www.comedyfestival.com.au/donate/2020-festival-fund. SOWHAT’S NEXT? All of us here at SDCC are incredibly sad that we're currently not able to supply the funnies to the people of Brisbane, but as always, people's health and safety is our #1 priority. We want everyone to get through this period as quickly and safely as possible; and this will only happen if we all work together over the next few months to socially distance/quarantine/self-isolate as has been instructed. (side note it would also be helpful if people stopped being dicks with all the panic buying shenanigans seriously YOU. DON’T. NEED. THAT. MUCH. BOG. ROLL. If you do, we strongly suggest you see a doctor ASAP.) The Sit Down Comedy Club has been ‘pimpin’ comedy to the masses’ for over 28 years and we have no intention of stopping. This period of craziness ‘tis but a scratch. Just a flesh wound, so please know that as soon as we are able to schedule & put on shows in a safe and responsible way, we will be back bigger & better than ever. We’re already planning some super, super exciting things, so stay tunedall will be revealed in due time! Over the next [insert a ‘best guess’ time period here] you can get your regular comedy fix by searching @sitdowncomedyclub on both Facebook and Instagram we’ll be posting a heap of standup vids, interviews and funny pics to keep you entertained. That’s also where you’ll be able to find all the latest announcements when we’re able to start hosting shows again! Until then, stay safe. Look after each other. Help out your fellow man. And above all, do everything within your power to help lower the curve so that we can kick COVID-19 in the dick and get back to the previously scheduled programming called life. xx Fedele, Kelli, Megan, Jo, Daz, Felix & the rest of the SDCC family
