25.01.2022 AMIGA Montessori Reservoir West is a long day education program for children aged 3 to 6 years of age. We believe that a child's learning experience should be a positive and rewarding one and that our purpose is to provide a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment. Our centre takes a whole-child approach to early education, using the Montessori approach. We provide a warm and friendly environment where we guide children to achieve the best they can at pre-school level.

21.01.2022 Here at AMIGA Montessori Reservoir West the children love learning about the different parts of animals. This focused learning is chosen by the child and as a result, helps them to develop their independence and confidence in themselves and their abilities.

21.01.2022 In our Montessori classroom the children work on on their practical life skills. Through this activity (pictured), children not only learn to use tongs, but also build the muscles in their fingers needed for a well developed pencil grasp.

18.01.2022 The Montessori Sensorial materials provide opportunities for children to discover and learn about colour, shape, size, length, weight, sound, taste etc. The materials are "self-correcting", allowing them to see for themselves things that might need to be moved, swapped or changed. This promotes the development of each child's sense of confidence and independence.

06.01.2022 Incredible Montessori story right in our centre Tarryn McKay, one of our teaching and also management team is captured here. Tarryn was a Montessori student herself when she was growing up and now she is engaged in a Montessori environment where she shares her childhood positive experience to her current students "I thought I would share this with you all... today my 'Grandma' and 'Poppy' came for Grandparents day. The children enjoyed talking to them and looking throug...h a book full of photos, drawings and Montessori work from my childhood. Below is a photo from my own kinder days (let's just say over 20 years ago ) and some photos from this special visit today" Tarryn McKay - AMIGA Montessori Reservoir West

04.01.2022 Pasting allows children to express themselves and use their imagination. It also allows children to explore mathematical concepts such as patterns and sequences; size, shape and colour; trial and error; and cause and effect.

03.01.2022 The children all really love our class pet Nibbles... and she loves the attention and pats! It's normal for some children to be unsure around animals but we have not yet had a child Nibbles hasn't been able to win over. If your child is one who is frightened by animals, it's important to not force them towards animals. Let them watch from a distance and build up to touching when they feel safe to do so. By pushing things too quickly you can risk both child and animal becoming scared or even hurt.

03.01.2022 Water pouring is big part of the Montessori Practical Life curriculum. The children practice the skills needed to transfer water in a range of different ways. Their independence is also fostered by providing them with the necessary tools and equipment such as sponges and dustpans to clean up any mistakes made.
