21.01.2022 About one year ago @freedomfromfistula welcomed Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex to the Aberdeen Women’s Centre (AWC) in Sierra Leone. During her visit she learned about the AWC programs that treat children with severe injuries caused by rape and FGM, including paralysis and incontinence. HRH's visit was essential to help raise awareness of the importance to expand the services to support child victims of rape. @freedomfromfistula ... #endviolenceagainstwomenandgirls #endviolenceagainstchildren @unfpa @unicef #handsofourgirls #children #hrhtheduchessofsussex #sierraleone @theroyalfamily #tbt See more

16.01.2022 "'I was sincerely blown away that we raised that much in 5 days! Thank you to everyone who gave! Especially you foot people. What a wonderful weird world we live in!' he added. '$10K will mean the foundation can help safely deliver 100 babies to 100 mothers in Sierra Leone! All that beautiful life from PICTURES OF FEET!' Luke said. 09.01.2022 In 2020 Sierra Leone overturned a ban prohibiting pregnant girls from attending school. However, teens are not encouraged to study when they are expecting. According to the 2019 census, at the age of 19, nearly half of Sierra Leonean girls have started having babies. That means that almost half of them are deprived of education. The "Dream Team Program" aims to transform their lives through income-generating skills and empowerment at the most vulnerable moment in their live...s, both economically and emotionally, through rebuilding their self-esteem and confidence. Learn more on our Highlights or visiting our Website https://aminatamaternalfoundation.org//our/the-dream-team/ *In order to comply with the government COVID restrictions the Dream Team Program is currently suspended. #aminatamaternalfoundation #unwomen #SDG4 #education2030 #unicef #unfpa #malala #educationisahumanright @aminata_conteh_biger

07.01.2022 "In March, Sierra Leone overturned a ban on pregnant girls and young mothers attending school, three months after the court of the Economic Community of West African states (Ecowas) - the region's top court - ruled that it was "discriminatory" and violated a child's right to an education. The country had long had a problem with teenage pregnancy - more than 35% of girls under the age of 18 had given birth in 2013. Numbers spiked - to up to 65% in some areas - during the Ebola pandemic of 2014/15 when schools were forced to close." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-55326814
