Recent bushfires have interrupted thousands of summer holiday plans an...d put fear into the local economy, however, the NSW Rural Fire Service has given the all clear for holidaymakers to return With the extreme weather behind us, tourists are encouraged to start returning to the villages and towns of the Far South Coast. Weather for the next seven days is predicted to be more favourable and although there is still fire across the area, the RFS says the risk has eased. RFS Inspector Angus Barnes says, we encourage visitors to make contact with their accommodation providers to confirm they are open for business." "While enjoying your time on the Far South Coast we ask that you stay up to date using the Fires Near Me and Live Traffic applications. Daniel Murphy, Manager of Economic Development, Bega Valley Shire Council says those who have a history and love for holiday's on the Sapphire Coast can make a meaningful contribution to the region in the wake of the bushfires. "Our very strong message to future visitors is to keep us in your thoughts over the coming weeks and months as you plan your holidays," he says. "We continue to offer unique and immersive experiences to our visitors. Most of what people love about this place remains and I really believe there is now an opportunity to go deeper and connect with the Sapphire Coast on a new level. "We are staying close to our local tourism operators and other small businesses in the region, ensuring they have the support they need as they manage the financial and emotional impacts of lost revenue during a traditionally buoyant time." NSW Police has asked visitors to respect the privacy of residents who have lost homes by avoiding fire-affected areas. "There are numerous coastal villages ready and waiting to welcome visitors," a police spokesperson says.
