25.01.2022 Over the next few days let's explore the emotional journey of training and the more broad rollercoaster of life in general through the metaphor of Dan on a gridiron field. I'm number 82! This is the last picture in the series for those of you still following along. From my first tender steps into a gym to where I am now has been quite the journey. There's still so much to do for the next forever but the one thing, above anything else, that has dragged me along, often kicking ...and screaming, is the people around me. I believe all the greatest experiences in life are shared. We simply aren't meant to be isolated. Anything I have ever achieved has been because whoever is around me has given me a platform to do so. That's not to diminish the work of the individual but rather to put the context on it that we cannot achieve as much alone as we can together. I am fiercely independent but I have to acknowledge that independence is only possible because of the support I have from so many people around me. At this point all I can do is say thank you to the people who believed in me because often I did not and that I hope I can repay your faith and in some way return the favour. Amplify is a family. We aren't a big gym, we are a close knit gym that believes that if you have the right people around you, you have every chance for success. More importantly though, if you have the right people around you, you have a chance to be happy. If that's something that you want in a training space, reach out and let's see if it's a good fit to work together! www.amplifyfitness.com.au #amplify #fitness #fun #friends #hobart #moonah #gym #workout #fit #training #personaltrainer #exercise

25.01.2022 Update time! TLDR: Groups are getting cooler, click the link for more. Since coming back to the gym after the lockdown, we have been taking notes about how people like to train and what is working best to keep everyone on track and safe.... The feedback that seemed to come back clearer than ever is that generic group training is not getting the job done any more. We are a private gym and the whole reason we do this is so people can have an environment where they feel comfortable, supported and empowered to achieve great things. So we are going to focus on the strengths of the gym and the people we have around us. We are transitioning our group schedule into Private and Semi-Private group training, starting on the 1st of August. These groups are going to be capped at 8 people and we will be running each as closely to a PT session as we can. Groups will be tracked (measured as much as you want) and given periodised, progressive and tailored workouts, this will ensure you are getting the most from your training and your results will be impressive. There are two ways to go about joining in the good times. The first is to get a bunch of friends you want to train with and contact us and we will set up a private group for you (this can be scheduled to your needs, there are no set times). This way you get all the benefits of a PT session with the affordability of a group session. The second is to enquire about Semi-Private group training. Semi-Private groups are Private groups who are happy to have other people train with them, this can create a great atmosphere and the more people in a group (up to 8), the lower the cost gets per person, per session! It's a great way to make new friends too. From August 1st, we have spaces in the following time slots for Semi-Private group training: -Wed 6.30am -Wed 6,00pm -Thurs 6.00pm If you are interested in any of these times or starting your own group (we expect to have spaces on Sat morning very soon!) please contact the page and we will get you ready to rock. As a reminder, if you haven't trained with us, you can book in using the link below and receive 50% off your first 2 weeks. So make sure to check that out to get a more thorough run down and book in a time to come see us! We are looking forward to getting these sessions rolling and would love to see your faces there too! -Dan https://amplifyfitness.com.au/group-training/

21.01.2022 Over the next couple of days I want to go through some of my heroes as I've gone through life. I think heroes are important as they instill in us qualities that we like to aspire to. Since I've grown up I have fallen out of the hero worship of my childhood. I think there is a more healthy way to look at things. I can put it no more eloquently than Bertolt Brecht did in his poem "A Worker Reads History": Who built the seven gates of Thebes?... The books are filled with names of kings. Was it the kings who hauled the craggy blocks of stone? And Babylon, so many times destroyed. Who built the city up each time? In which of Lima's houses, That city glittering with gold, lived those who built it? In the evening when the Chinese wall was finished Where did the masons go? Imperial Rome Is full of arcs of triumph. Who reared them up? Over whom Did the Caesars triumph? Byzantium lives in song. Were all her dwellings palaces? And even in Atlantis of the legend The night the seas rushed in, The drowning men still bellowed for their slaves. Young Alexander conquered India. He alone? Caesar beat the Gauls. Was there not even a cook in his army? Phillip of Spain wept as his fleet was sunk and destroyed. Were there no other tears? Frederick the Greek triumphed in the Seven Years War. Who triumphed with him? Each page a victory At whose expense the victory ball? Every ten years a great man, Who paid the piper? So many particulars. So many questions. www.amplifyfitness.com.au #amplify #fitness #fun #friends #hobart #moonah #gym #workout #fit #training #personaltrainer #exercise

18.01.2022 Over the next couple of days I want to go through some of my heroes as I've gone through life. I think heroes are important as they instill in us qualities that we like to aspire to. When I was a little older I became pretty obsessed with Captain Planet. He was who you called when nothing else worked and he stopped people trashing the planet, which seemed like a good thing to me. I think Captain Planet did a lot of groundwork in setting up kids of my generation to be more con...scious of the environment and the impact we can have on it. Seems relevant right now. Amplify is a gym, but we are also aware we are part of a community and have a part to play in keeping it safe and sustainable. If you think caring about the environment and our future is an important quality in a business you frequent, let's have a chat! www.amplifyfitness.com.au #amplify #fitness #fun #friends #hobart #moonah #gym #workout #fit #training #personaltrainer #exercise

15.01.2022 Hey gang, I have finally written another blog article so if you have five free minutes to give it a read and some feedback that would be super great of you. Barring an outpouring of negative feedback I hope to have these appearing a bit more often, so if you have something you would like me to look into and write about, shoot me a message!... https://amplifyfitness.com.au/the-gym-an-aspirational-addi/

12.01.2022 Time for another blog. This one is pretty serious and something I've been thinking about for awhile. If you think I've made a decent point or two and wonder what you can do instead of donating to "raise awareness" consider the following: - Join your union (https://join.australianunions.org.au/begin-join#/) - Find and support a lobby group that resonates with causes you care about, for example: https://www.equalityrightsalliance.org.au/... - Contact your local MP's (in Hobart a good person to reach out to is Josh Willie - http://taslabor.com/people/josh-willie/) - Switch your super to FutureSuper (https://www.futuresuper.com.au/) - Change your search engine to ecosia (https://www.ecosia.org/?c=en) These are all steps you can take that are relatively simple and easy and have real impact on the quality of life of all of us. That is suicide prevention, not treatment. https://amplifyfitness.com.au/why-its-ok-to-not-be-ok-is-n/

12.01.2022 I've been pretty consistent with my message that we need to do more to change the path we're on so that we can enjoy a future that isn't horrible. The next few days I'll share some fairly simple things we can do to start the shift. Last up is Bank Australia. What Future Super is to Super Funds, Bank Australia is to banking. Bank Australia is investing in the people and technologies that are required to avert the worst outcomes of the climate crisis. What is important to remem...ber is your effort to switch banks is not only an investment into great areas that are the future, it's taking money out of industries that are callously risking everything to prop themselves up and hold onto money and influence. 11.01.2022 Over the next couple of days I want to go through some of my heroes as I've gone through life. I think heroes are important as they instill in us qualities that we like to aspire to. Ocarina of time was the first video game I really connected with. It's a pretty simple story. Boy saves Princess. Nintendo knows a winning formula when they see one. However this was the first time I was kind of the protagonist. It was my actions, however guided, that saved the day. Link starts o...ut as a boy and turns into a man and saves the Princess. Would my actions as I turned from a boy into a man help me save a Princess? We all have our own "saving the Princess" dream. We start a journey often quite naïve of what it will look like and then it shapes us as we mature into the people we need to be. Amplify wants to help you save your Princes. Let's have a chat about how! www.amplifyfitness.com.au #amplify #fitness #fun #friends #hobart #moonah #gym #workout #fit #training #personaltrainer #exercise

07.01.2022 Over the next few days let's explore the emotional journey of training and the more broad rollercoaster of life in general through the metaphor of Dan on a gridiron field. I'm number 82! This picture is the one I am most proud of on a personal level. I am most definitely getting tackled here and I am most definitely nanoseconds away from eating turf however I am proud because even though I am going down, I am scrapping and trying my absolute best to claw forward for anything ...I can. I do a fair few things and of those things I am the best at precisely zero of them. I do however, try my best. That is literally all I can do. As long as I do that, I can walk away, win or lose, and feel content about what I did. I hate losing so much, more than is healthy, so it is very important that I am able to take this perspective. Losses and failure are inevitable and often out of our control so we should take pride in one thing we can control which is our effort and endeavor. Amplify is a place of pride. Pride is often considered a sin but being proud of the things you put effort into is not sinful, it is healthy and important. We take great pride in the efforts of our clients day in and day out. It is humbling. If that's something that you want in a training space, reach out and let's see if it's a good fit to work together! www.amplifyfitness.com.au #amplify #fitness #fun #friends #hobart #moonah #gym #workout #fit #training #personaltrainer #exercise

07.01.2022 Looking forward to hanging out with all the great people in the Moonah community and the sweet tunes of Miele, while feasting on all the great food from Fried & Loaded and TacoTaco. 06.01.2022 I've been pretty consistent with my message that we need to do more to change the path we're on so that we can enjoy a future that isn't horrible. The next few days I'll share some fairly simple things we can do to start the shift. First up is changing your browser to Ecosia. 06.01.2022 Over the next couple of days I want to go through some of my heroes as I've gone through life. I think heroes are important as they instill in us qualities that we like to aspire to. The first hero I can remember being captivated by was Astro Boy, who I was obsessed with when I was bout 5. 04.01.2022 You lucky ducks are in for a treat as I've hit a rich vein of motivation and blasted out another blog. https://amplifyfitness.com.au/3-reasons-you-should-be-work/ It's probably getting close to that time we all awaken from the summer haze and need to start setting up our routines for the year. 03.01.2022 I've been pretty consistent with my message that we need to do more to change the path we're on so that we can enjoy a future that isn't horrible. The next few days I'll share some fairly simple things we can do to start the shift. Next up is Future Super. Most of us have super and if you're a gen Y like me you have super in wherever it was put by your employer and you don't really know anything about it and maybe even have multiple super funds all taking commissions off the ...top of your retirement (haha) fund. Consolidating your super is actually...super...easy. You can do it from most fund websites or in the ATO portal of your MyGov account. Future Super has divested completely from all polluting industries and invests in clean and renewable organisations. Their returns are also really competitive and often outstrip regular Super Funds and this will only continue to be the case as polluting industries are left with stranded assets and having to change course entirely just to survive. I have switched and it honestly feels pretty good. 02.01.2022 Story time: The silver lining

02.01.2022 Over the next few days I'd like to pop in some resources that help me understand why the world is as it is right now and where it's going. I find as a younger person, who definitely does not feel young, that there is a lot of existential fear and worry about the future occupying large amounts of my mind. I also find a large source of this is because I feel a lack of control and agency over the looming threats. Bad things seem like they are going to happen no matter what I do... or don't do. I also feel guilt and responsibility for the bad things just from existing in the world. One way I try to help myself is to understand. If I can understand, then I am one step closer to accepting what is, and when I have accepted what is, I can figure out how to act. Let's go back to CGPGrey again. I hope you're noticing the theme that I like animated things. I find things easier to understand when a nice voice and simple pictures explain it to me. This video seems very relevant at the moment. The previous video illustrates ways in which global leaders tend to operate and this video helps explain how global opinion and meme culture tend to operate. Having an understanding of both concepts can help to figure out how we got into the mess we're in and how we can use these tools to get out of it again. www.amplifyfitness.com.au #amplify #fitness #fun #friends #hobart #moonah #gym #workout #fit #training #personaltrainer #exercise
