24.01.2022 I am looking forward to seeing some new and familiar faces on the mat next week once @soulspace_ reopens ~ bookings essential via mindbody app. We have just opened up a few more mats so if you previously looked and they were booked out there may be a mat or two left, there is still plenty of space for social distancing requirements.

22.01.2022 On my 31st birthday at the beginning on winter I started surfing again. My love for the ocean has always been there but I had put up barriers (not good enough, not fit enough, not the right conditions) but I decided to take the approach to just let go of the ego and get back into it. I had the same feelings around yoga many moons ago and put off doing my teacher training for similar reasons. When I let go of the ego of how I should look/feel in an asana pose or on a wave, I found innate pleasure and happiness. Once I get out of my head and into my heart, I am abundantly full. Yoga has been one of the greatest teachings to assist me on this journey.

22.01.2022 To be soft is to be powerful ~ Rupi Kaur Let me guide you tomorrow morning as we meet the first light of day together into shape and forms that feel good in your body. Let go of the expectation of what yoga should look and feel like, come to the mat as you are. RISE & SHINE ~ Thursday 6.30am at @soulspace_

22.01.2022 My practices since lockdown have made me feel grounded, expansive and a great sense of ease. Ease of my breath, mind and body. I have leant into the slower pace, listened to my body and mind when it yearns for rest. Having the ritual of pranayama, meditation and movement whether it’s only 15 minutes or a luxurious couple of hours, its given me this ability to feel at ease and present. Join me this week for RISE & SHINE at 6.30am on Tuesday.

20.01.2022 It may simply be by gaining more of perspective around compassion and kindness, to your self and to others around you. Simple shifts create the tide for bigger change. Join me this week on three occasions to practice TUESDAY 6.30am RISE & SHINE THURSDAY 6.30am RISE & SHINE SUNDAY 9.30 COMMUNITY ... See more

20.01.2022 Feelings are for feeling. All of them. Even the hard ones. The secret is you are doing it right, and that doing it right hurts sometimes Glennon Doyle, Untamed. We all arrive on the mat with different journeys - different thoughts, feelings and sensations travelling within the body. Not one individual is going to show up with the same headspace or sensations in the body. A lot of the time people come to yoga because they need to feel better in their body and their mind. S...ometimes with the use of movement, the breath and stillness of may bring up underlying emotions, feelings and sensations that are hard. Yoga is a beautiful practice to feel into the range of experiences your body, heart and mind may throw at you as well as give you tools to deal with the not so pleasant feelings that may arise on and off the mat. There is truly no right way of doing yoga. Just an openness to experiencing the different thoughts, feelings and sensations that arise and acknowledging them when they do. #feelingfeelings #rangeofexperiences

20.01.2022 I remember going around a circle with friends at a few minutes past midnight and speaking of resolutions for 2020. For years my partner and I had lay low and never celebrated New Years, usually going to sleep before the date turned. But this year, the words being spoken felt potent. For me, it was becoming involved in our community on a greater level. I had just been given the opportunity by the best boss @shinyshucka to create the Community program and it was phenomenal sta...rting to get to know more people in the Bass Coast area via @soulspace_ . As divisive as I have seen people in our community be toward one another this year, todays cohesive community spirit has been phenomenal - your emailing to our local MP Jordan Crugnal is already making an impact. So if would like to return to face to face teaching at @soulspace_ we need the 1 person per 8m2 rule changed. We would love to see our community benefiting from their yoga practice and reconnecting again. Please send an email through to [email protected] I am in awe of the Soul Space community already - my deepest gratitude to you all. See more

19.01.2022 Winter Solstice ~ the Wattle always blooms around the shortest day of the year. Showing us to bloom and grow as the days start to lengthen. Winter solstice is also a time for self reflection, regeneration and renewal. How fitting that we are back in the studio at @soulspace_ for a new chapter?! Looking forward to seeing you on the mat: Tuesday 6.30am Thursday 6.30am ... Sunday 9.30am See more

18.01.2022 On Monday afternoon I carved out some time and headed to @shinyshucka Intro into Yoga. It was utter bliss to slow it down. To focus on the breathe consciously and mindfully move into shapes with kindness and guidance. You are probably wondering WHY a yoga facilitator is going to an introductory class. Because there is nothing more amazing that going back to basics and simplicity. There is nothing more profound than coming back to the breathe and allowing yourself to simply be present in the moment. I recommend this program for anyone at any stage of their yoga journey. You can never be bad at yoga and on the other side of it you can never be the best, you can just be present in that moment, in that aspect of yoga that you are practicing.

17.01.2022 On the Saturday just gone we stood in solidarity with our community on Boon Wurrung land. We heard first hand accounts of racial profiling in our community, we heard messages of trauma and injustice from those that have lost loved ones in Police custody. While these paddle outs and marches took place across the country another 5 lives were lost in police custody of our First Nations people. Enough is enough. There is an amazing amount of resources out there for us to take a stand, do the work and be a part of the change ~ one way we are doing it at @soulspace_ is via our community classes on Sundays at 9.30am from the 28th of June once we reopen. We will be supporting Indigenous grassroots programs with the money raised from each class. We look forward to seeing you all again on Sundays at 9.30am at @soulspace_

16.01.2022 Join me for Community Yoga on Sunday at 9.30am

16.01.2022 This smug mug cannot sleep as I am buzzing with excitement that we are back at the studio tomorrow Also a little smug because I got two surfs yesterday I will be at @soulspace_ for RISE & SHINE 6.30am on Tuesday and Thursdays ... Bookings essential, only a few mats left for Tuesday and Thursday next week.

14.01.2022 I have surrendered to slow and rest this week, this mama was over doing it and trying to keep going even though I was exhausted mentally and physically. So each day I lay with my son during his nap, cup my hand over my lower belly where my second child is at home and breath as recite this gorgeous mantra shared by @thegoldenmonth I will not worry about the small details today. I will turn away from judgment. I will embrace the here & now,... For this too shall pass. I am calm & at peace. I am doing the best I can. I am more than enough. I am loveable & deeply loved. I take care of my mind, my body & my sprit. I will fill my cup & put myself first. I love & accept myself just as I am. I am unwavering in my love for my children. To them, I am the world their moon, & the stars. This is when I was 39 weeks with my son. It feels like yesterday but also a lifetime ago. This pregnancy is so different that with my son, I had the expectation that it would be similar but realised that I changed so greatly over my motherhood journey and that I continue to change daily. The little being inside isn’t going to be the same as their older brother so I shouldn’t have the expectation that the journey is going to be the same. So much surrendering, learning to go with the flow a little more.

13.01.2022 Final morning teaching today - I adore the enthusiastic Rise & Shiners see you all in 6 weeks, or on Sundays via Zoom for community class.

13.01.2022 It’s been a while since I have shown my face on this platform so I thought I would reintroduce myself. I am Amy, I am a hatha, trauma informed and community trained yoga facilitator. My offerings are at @soulspace_ which is yoga, art and wellness space which is in Wonthaggi in the Bass Coast on Boon Wurrung land. Being a yoga facilitator is just one aspect of who I am. I am a mama to an very chilled 18 month old, I work in social media and marketing for a local sustainable ...building company, I am an ex mental health nurse so have a keen interest in connecting yoga to mental health and wellbeing. I grew up on the Bass Coast and adore this coastline and community. I really enjoy reading and cups of tea. Yoga has been a wonderful platform to connect with likeminded community members but I also see it as a wonderful container for self reflection and personal work. In my offerings it won’t be to touch your toes or do a handstand; you may experience breath awareness and the connection to heartfelt movement that is what your body may be calling for. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and new faces when I am back from Tuesday the 23rd of June. See more

13.01.2022 The invitation is to bring awareness to your breath; what does the sensation feel like pasting through your nostrils? Where is the breath sitting in your body? Is the breath flowing with softness and ease? What sensations may be arising with each round of breath? All welcome to join me at @soulspace_ this week. ... 6.30am RISE & SHINE 9.30am COMMUNITY . Or try this little check in with your breath awareness at home in your own time. See more

12.01.2022 I am a mama to this sweet, calm, gentle soul, Solomon. He is two today and he is definitely my greatest teacher. I am so incredibly grateful to be his mama and have an incredible life partner by my side raising this curious soul with me. It’s been a journey and we cannot wait to watch him grow in this next lap around the sun!

11.01.2022 There is nothing more luscious than dropping into balasana (child’s form) and checking in with myself during a movement practice. Acknowledging the sensations in the body, observing my mind and paying attention to the breath and where it’s sitting in the body. Its form helps lengthen and stretche the spine and is attributed to relieving fatigue, stress and anxiety. I am metaphorically dropping into this form and stepping away from Community class at @soulspace_ this weekend..., with dear friend and team member @annacuttriss guiding the class at 9.30am Sunday. You can join me on Tuesday for RISE & SHINE at 6.30am via Zoom. $10 per class. Discounts for @soulspace_ community members Recording of class available via donation. Zoom link in bio. 11.01.2022 The Sunday ritual of @soulspace_ community class is a luscious and heart warming way slow down before stepping into a new week; the buzz and hum of chatter before class is infectious! It’s always such a privilege to guide this offering on a Sunday morning, to raise funds and bring awareness to local charities or grassroots organisations. My heart is so full right now. Thank you to our community, but also to @shinyshucka for creating such a wonderful space for community to gather and explore yoga.

10.01.2022 Such a delight being back teaching ~ watching the day dawn, moving and breathing with community.

09.01.2022 Join me via Zoom from the comfort of your home for Community Class ~ pay as you feel to Djirra!

07.01.2022 I have been working on my branding with the talented and lovely @amiedesign_ since the first lockdown! It was so hard to make final decisions with so many beautiful options. It’s been a pleasure seeing it come to life and how thoughtful and precise Amelie has been. Her own research into aspects and ideas were so thoughtful, intertwining it all together into beautiful and personal branding. Thank you, my beautiful friend.

07.01.2022 Sunrise this morning, it was an utter delight guiding this mornings class. It was one of those mornings where things were not going to plan - not much sleep, escaped dogs, spilled tea, trouble getting a roller door up etc etc But seeing everyone’s smiling eyes (because masks) walking in and getting settled on their mat just filled my heart to the brim and over flowed. I utterly adore the community at @soulspace_ and I am so excited about guiding you through a practice on Thursday morning

07.01.2022 Taking a week off from teaching ~ the gorgeous @metta.yoga.fleur will be covering my classes @soulspace_ this week. See you back in the studio on the 15th of December

07.01.2022 Unconditional love really exists in each of us. It is part of our deep inner being. It is not so much an active emotion as a state of being. It's not 'I love you' for this or that reason, not 'I love you if you love me.' It's love for no reason, love without an object. ~ Ram Dass

02.01.2022 Over the past few days it’s becoming more and more common that people are feeling the pressure to socialise and be busy again in that lead up to Christmas and since things have reopened There is a sense that society is falling into old habits again that are ingrained in ourselves. I know I can feel old behaviours creeping in, do you see it within yourself also? I have had to be very strict around setting boundaries around how I spend my time and how much I socialise, I fe...el a yearning to turn inward and spend time alone and focus on my little family unit. To connect back in with my body and the sensations that arise while in stillness. I have even been lucky enough to make it back into the studios to practice a few times since they have reopened. Carving out that time to go inward, in a sacred space. I am so thankful for the practices yoga has given me and that I can turn to them if I feel boundaries are blurred or old behaviours creeping in!
