18.01.2022 Louise Denson is a pianist, composer/arranger and educator. She holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the Queensland Conservatorium (Brisbane) where she is a Senior Lecturer in Jazz Studies. She completed her Masters in Jazz at New England Conservatory (Boston) in the mid-1990s, studying with such luminaries as Paul Bley, George Russell, Bevan Manson and Joe Maneri. 15.01.2022 Bit of bassoon bother in your ensemble? Check out the session that Karen will be co-presenting at #anboc2018, "Double trouble or double the fun?:Demystifying double reeds". Karen Ruprecht has extensive experience in performance and teaching of the bassoon. She has spent most of her career in Qld and Vic where she enjoys a busy schedule of freelance playing. Karen is principal bassoon in the Qld Pops Orchestra, associate principal bassoon in the Northern Rivers Symphony Orche...stra and is also a member of the Australian Army Band Brisbane (reservist), which involves Symphonic Band and quintet work. Karen has performed at events in Switzerland and France with the Army Band. She has also performed with QLD Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia and Camerata of St Johns. Karen completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours at the Qld Conservatorium of Music and has also completed an L.Mus A. She runs the specialist bassoon program for Education QLD and teaches bassoon at various schools in Brisbane. Karen is also heavily involved with the Australasian Double Reed Society, which promotes the playing of oboe and bassoon by providing opportunities, competitions, workshops, conferences and performances. She has also tutored at ‘Most’, QLD Youth Orchestra and adjudicated for the QLD Solo and Ensemble Championships (run by the QLD Band Association). #teachingonandoffthepodium #middleyears #wellbeing

13.01.2022 Want some practical advice on copyright? Catherine McBride from APRA AMCOS will be presenting a session at #anboc2018 on precisely that. Catharine attended the Conservatorium High School, has a Bachelor of Music from the Sydney Conservatorium and a Master of Music (Performance) from the Royal Academy of Music, London. She spent many years as a freelance French Horn player and teacher, working in numerous schools around Sydney, as well as at the NSW Department of Education’s ...Art Unit. Catharine was then drawn towards Intercultural education, joining AFS Intercultural Programs, a global not-for-profit organisation, in 2007 and becoming CEO of AFS Australia in 2011. Combining her experience in music education and the not-for-profit sector, Catharine joined APRA AMCOS as Educational Licensing Consultant in July 2016. One of the greatest pleasures of her role is that it sees her meeting face to face with teachers around the country to understand the musical education landscape in their schools and in their states, as well as helping them to navigate the world of music copyright. #teachingonandoffthepodium #middleyears #wellbeing

Greg Holdaway is the Director of Sydney Alexander Technique and is the developer of BodyMinded approaches to Music teaching and performance. He has over 25 years of experience and academic qualifications in human movement. The workshop Greg is teaching will provide demonstrations, practical advice and activities, along with an opportunity for questions to be answered. #teachingonandoffthepodium #middleyears #wellness

11.01.2022 It seems we have a bit of a flute theme today! Bronwyn Powter has worked as a flute tutor for over 20 years across NSW, QLD and London. After completing a Bachelor of Music, Bronwyn travelled abroad, completing many UK and European Summer schools and masterclasses, and worked with flute specialist stores in Sydney, London and Brisbane. Since settling in Brisbane, QLD, Bronwyn has worked to further the education of students and teachers to achieve a bright future for Australian flutists. Bronwyn works closely with the QLD Flute Guild, and the Australian Flute Festival to ensure that flute players are obtaining the best exposure, and up to date information of flute education. Bronwyn will be co-presenting the session "Detache and vibrato: The mysteries of advanced flute playing". #teachingonandoffthepodium #middleyears #wellbeing

Lee Norrell will be presenting a session entitled, "Flute tone: From the bottom up" and will be co-presenting the session, "Detache and vibrato: The mysteries of advanced flute playing". Lee is a native of the Mid-west of the United States. He immigrated to Australia in 1991 to work for Education Queensland. He is currently the woodwind teacher at MacGregor State High School and MacGregor Primary. As part of his teaching duties he conducts four en...sembles with those schools. He has been tutoring in Music Education at the University of Queensland for the last 4 years. Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts from the School of the Ozarks and a Masters’ Degree from the University of Akron. He has attended the Aspen Festival of Music and his education qualifications were gained at Emporia State University. #teachingonandoffthepodium #middleyears #wellbeing
