21.01.2022 Lids 4 Kids! Drop off at 54 Fullerton St, Stockton Feel free to just pop them in the mailbox! ... We are collecting plastic lids & bread tags for Envision Lids4Kids who turn plastic bottle lids into PROSTHETIC ARMS FOR CHILDREN HOW AMAZING IS THAT!!! Don’t put them in the earn and return machines because they end up in landfill! Something as SIMPLE as this CHANGES little people's LIVES!! And how amazing to be apart of that! We can all be apart of this because we all drink either milk, bottled water and/or soft drinks. WHAT CAN BE COLLECTED? Glad you asked! Plastic lids with recycling numbers 2 & 4 from milk, water, juice and soft drink bottles can be collected. The reason other plastics can not be collected is because they are too hard of a plastic for the granulating machines (plastic shredders). Please make sure all lids are clean and rinsed, and that the foil 'freshness seal' is removed from the inside of the lids. Drop them into the nursery & we’ll get them to where they need to go! HOW LONG ARE WE COLLECTING FOR? This is an on-going collection. No finish date. Not only does Envision make disability aids for children from these lids, they ALSO make fence posts for farmers who have lost their properties fencing from fire and other natural disasters. How amazing!! The planet is choking in plastic & needs our help! Let’s give it a helping hand & help change some lives in the process!!

20.01.2022 "Left to their own devices, children move. They hold hands and whirl in a circle till they fall down laughing. They beg to take part in interesting tasks with adults. They want to face challenges and try again after making mistakes. They climb, dig, and run. When they’re tired they like to be rocked or snuggled. Stifling these full body needs actually impairs their ability to learn." https://lauragraceweldon.com//reading-readiness-has-to-do/

19.01.2022 Exploring the water leftover from the rain What can children learn from playing in the rain? The joy of nature. One of our goals is to engender a joy of nature in children. Most children are drawn to puddles and when they are allowed to play in the rain they may form a deeper connection with nature. Nature-based Learning for Every Preschool Setting: Start Small or Go Big from Redleaf Press.... Come explore nature with us at Stockton. Vacancies available Message or call Shannon 0428967710

17.01.2022 Strengthening those little fingers with a tweezer activity and linking the monkeys arms together "Play provides opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine. Play provides a supportive environment where children can ask questions, solve problems and engage in critical thinking. In these ways play can promote positive dispositions towards learning." 02.01.2022 People in Lake Macquarie and Newcastle are urged to vaccinate against measles and watch for symptoms following confirmation of two cases in the region. The two ...cases, a middle aged woman and a teenage male, were diagnosed with measles after contact with a man confirmed with measles on return from South America. Both cases visited the below locations in and around Lake Macquarie and Newcastle while infectious. Anyone who develops symptoms of measles should phone their GP to ensure they don’t wait alongside other patients before seeing their doctor. Symptoms to watch out for include fever, sore eyes and a cough followed three or four days later by a red, blotchy rash that spreads from the head to the rest of the body. It can take up to 18 days for symptoms to appear following exposure to a person with measles. People in the same places at the same time as the woman or teenager should be alert for signs and symptoms of measles until 22 September 2019. We encourage everyone in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle regions to ensure they have received two doses of the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine, which provides lifelong protection in 99 out of 100 people who are vaccinated. While the risk of infection is low in fully-vaccinated people, health experts urge anyone who comes into contact with someone who has measles to remain alert for symptoms. 01.01.2022 Recent research has shown that dirt contains microscopic bacteria called Mycobacterium Vaccae which stimulates the immune system and increases the levels of serotonin in our brains, an endorphin that soothes, calms, and helps us to relax. Scientists say regular exposure to the bacteria may help reduce a child’s vulnerability to depression. In short, playing in mud makes you happier! (Michelle Rupiper, Community Playthings)
