25.01.2022 Did you see our adviser Liz's brief appearance on Seven News last year? Unfortunately we didn't get the full footage but here were some of Liz's comments on the Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card. Many clients don't realise that despite not receiving the government Age Pension they may still be eligible for this card.

25.01.2022 Our June quarter in review is now available on our website. It provides an economic, political and legislative update on the second quarter for 2017.

25.01.2022 An interesting article around SMSF reforms that could help protect those who shouldn't be advised to open an SMSF in the first place.

25.01.2022 AustralianSuper have formally announced that they do not believe Labors proposed changes to franking credits will materially impact its members. This is because of its young member base and paying tax at the fund level. This is true for both its unitised options as well as Member Direct. We expect this will be a similar story for other large funds with a relatively young member base. Contact Andep today if you have any questions regarding your superannuation and how it might be impacted.

24.01.2022 In today's Weekend West Andep's director Liz shares her opinions on credit cards and whether we still need them.

22.01.2022 The image below is from the "Your Money" section of todays West Australian. It lists various financial planning practices in WA and shows how many of them are bank linked. You will not see Andep here as we are one of Perths only independent financial planning practices. Andep offers conflict free advice that you can trust.

21.01.2022 Get to know us! Introducing our founder and senior adviser Dennis Barton. Dennis founded the company in 1982 and is a still a director and adviser today. Dennis holds Bachelors degrees in Science and Economics and a Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia having qualified as an Actuary in 1973. He qualified as an Associate of the Securities Institute of Australia in 1978 and was elevated to a Fellow of that Institute in 1985. He is also registered as a Tax (fi...nancial) Adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board. Before commencing the financial planning practice, Dennis was the Western Australian Government Actuary. He was, for a time, Chairman of the Western Australian State Superannuation Board (now GESB), he chaired the Western Australian Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Board and was a trustee of the Activ Foundation Superannuation Fund policy committee. Dennis was previously on the independent advisory board for Aspen Group Ltd and was a board member (and later Treasurer) of Future Living Trust from 1995 to 2019. In his spare time Dennis enjoys cycling, reading and Sudoku puzzles. Dennis has a wealth of experience but is especially good with clients who have complicated financial situations, own their own business or anyone whose situation could benefit from his meticulous attention to detail. Contact us today to learn more about our services and how we can help you get and stay on top of your finances. https://www.andep.com.au/contact-us/

21.01.2022 We are largely back to "business as usual" with appointments available in person, through Zoom or over the phone. Please visit our website or call us on (08) 9225 5899 to make an appointment. We have hand sanitiser available in the building lobby as well as at our reception desk. We look forward to continuing to help our clients through whichever meeting medium they prefer. https://www.andep.com.au/book-a-meeting-with-an-adviser/

21.01.2022 For clients that are looking to book a meeting with an adviser, at this stage we have no plans to stop having meetings in our office. We only ever have two staff members in the office at any one time, we have hand santizer available at reception and the buildings management are also arranging for hand sanitizer stations to be installed in the lobby area. We are more than happy to conduct meetings with both new and existing clients over the phone or through video conferencing if that is preferred. It has been a very volatile time for investment markets over the last couple of weeks. If you are thinking about making any changes to your investments at this time we encourage you to please contact your adviser first to discuss the implications. As always, we are here to help as and when you need us.

21.01.2022 We couldnt agree more with the Productivity Commissions draft recommendation for ASIC as outlined in Mondays AFR regarding SMSFs. An SMSF shouldnt have less than $1 million in assets, except in very limited circumstances. Even with a balance that high, it is hard to justify the expense and responsibilities involved, especially given the suite of public offer products available today. If you are considering opening an SMSF or you already have one, you should seek independent financial advice regarding it.

14.01.2022 **Our September quarter in review is now available on our website. It provides an economic, political and legislative update on the third quarter in 2018**

13.01.2022 Give the gift of trustworthy financial advice this Christmas For the special price of $250 this voucher entitles the holder to a meeting with an experienced adviser (this usually lasts for 1 hour) and a write up (usually 1-2 pages) of the advice. This is roundly a 50% discount on Andeps hourly rates and is available to new clients only- though can be purcha...sed by an existing client for a loved one to use. 10.01.2022 Yet another article highlighting why it is best to seek truly independent financial advice. ASIC have found that "advisers who had guided a client to an in-house product had in 75 per cent of cases failed to act in the best interests of the client".

10.01.2022 We are very excited to have set up a new online booking system. For new and existing clients please head to our website to book an appointment with a financial adviser.

10.01.2022 Startling statistics show that many WA women have barely more than half the savings of men, 60% of WA women retire with zero superannuation, women earn 25 per cent less than men and most WA women still lack financial confidence and skills to invest (Dept Local Government & Communities, 2015). If you are a woman or know of a woman that would like to learn how to take control of her finances please see the flyer on our website with details of upcoming workshops in Perth hosted by Financial Toolbox specifically for women.

08.01.2022 Want to know the importance of independent financial advice? This article provides you with some good reasons to seek out an independent adviser. Andep is one of very few truly independent financial planning companies in Australia.

08.01.2022 For those clients who arent aware, Andep moved offices in June! We are still at 251 Adelaide Terrace but have moved to the thirteenth floor. We look forward to seeing you in our new premises.

08.01.2022 Andep welcomes the financial advice recommendations published this week by the Royal Commission into Banking. The Royal Commissions 1000+ page report makes 10 recommendations relating to the provision of financial advice. One of these is regarding disclosure of independence, or lack thereof, to the client in advance. Without independence, there is a risk the advice is not in the clients best interest, but rather a sales pitch masquerading as advice. Andep is proudly independent meaning we do not accept commissions, are not linked to any product providers and do not charge asset based fees.

07.01.2022 Published in today's West see statistics compiled by one of Andep's directors, Dennis Barton, on key economic indicators under both Labor and Liberal governments since 1972.

06.01.2022 Andep's advisers, Dennis and Liz, sat the FASEA financial adviser exam in February and both passed on their first attempt. Currently only 27% of registered advisers have passed the exam. The date the exam needs to be completed by is looking like it will be pushed out by one year to 1 January 2022 to allow the remaining advisers enough time to complete it.
