21.01.2022 This took me a while to figure out, after months of forcing myself into high intensity classes and wondering why I couldn’t get through the rest of the day without a nap and not fully being able to recharge. But we have to get our heart rate up right? Yes. But we don’t have to do it for an extended amount of time. I’ve found 30min to an hour (depending on how I’m feeling) of weights rather then intense cardio has worked best for me. Don’t quit moving, just find an alternative that isn’t exhausting your system. It won’t be forever.
16.01.2022 Merry Christmas Beautiful people What ever Christmas looks like for you, if you are still working on finding your place or you don’t have family to celebrate with or you are trying to stay safe amongst the chaos that can become Christmas around alcohol or you feel like the idea of Christmas is foreign to you, and to everyone too unwell, locked up or alone, try again today, even if it feels like you have to fake smile the whole way through it, find some small moments that make your heart smile and then find moments alone to breathe. Don’t expect so much of your self and others, it’s just another day in the whole scheme of things.
12.01.2022 Your story is important. But it does not need to be validated. I once wore my story like a badge, whilst I didn’t feel proud of it, I wore it like it was an excuse, like my story meant this is the way I am. I proudly wore the title of victim though. After all that’s what we are taught, victims are to be sympathised. My story was the only thing I had, if I didn’t have it, what was left of me? A lot of fucking work that’s what was left. And I was punched right in the face w...ith some hard facts when I went to my first Demartini seminar. I could have easily walked away and stayed wallowing in my shit. But I knew that voice inside of me that had been nagging me for years had brought me here. So I no longer could use my story as an excuse or as a way to throw my life away. It took years after this to stop holding onto it and then I just stopped talking of it, I had to stop rewriting that story and make another. So for a long time it was like it didn’t exist, I did the work, I still do, I will forever, but then I felt like I couldn’t authentically be me without bringing my story together with who I am today. Just like mine, your story holds so much value and it will serve so many one day. But you have to decide if you want to keep rewriting it or find a way to rewrite a new one, until you can bring out that old story for the value of others without needing sympathy or validation. 11.01.2022 Is Nutritional Yeast actually good for you? I decided to look into it further because it was one of the most requested topics I’ve been asked to cover this y...ear. I didn’t really have an answer before researching and writing this blog because it’s not something I’ve ever used in my cooking and I’ve never felt the need to add into my diet. Over the years, I have intentionally avoided it because I didn’t know enough about it or how it’s processed. I’ve also had many clients tell me that when they consumed nutritional yeast it flared up their thrush, eczema, gave them headaches or they suffered from bloating and stomach cramps. These experiences alone definitely didn’t inspire me to go out and buy some. If you’re confused at whether or not nutritional yeast is actually good for you, I totally understand! There is so much conflicting information on it. This is why I decided to do a deep dive on nutritional yeast to understand how it’s processed and give my own take on whether I would actually recommend it or not. I cover; The difference between brewer’s yeast vs. nutritional yeast How nutritional yeast is processed What are the pitfalls of nutritional yeast, including; synthetic fortification of Vitamin B12 and folic acid, how it can contain other additives, can aggravate candida and gut issues in some people, can flare up eczema, it may worsen symptoms of gluten intolerance, celiac and Crohn's disease + more If you do choose to use it, I've also included a checklist you can follow so you can make sure you're choosing the best nutritional yeast you can. Swipe right for a little sneak peak To read the full blog post, click the link https://www.reallifeofpie.com//nutritional-yeast-is-it-act I’d love to know what have your experiences been with nutritional yeast? 09.01.2022 Lesson of the day. 400 metres up hill feels like a really long way! You guys no how much cardio kills me Today I was having flash backs of being dragged up a volcano in Bali when I was 8 weeks pregnant. Both then and years ago trying to complete this walk, I would give up because I’d have to stop so much, the difference in me now is that I know no matter how many breaks I need doesn’t mean I have to quit and turn around. Want to know the biggest impact you can have on your confidence? Set a goal and achieve it. Just don’t get stuck on a timeline, how long it will take or how many breaks you’ll need, just make sure it’s actually important to you and there’s not really a chance of ‘failure’
05.01.2022 If you think growing and changing is always going to be comfortable/easy you will miss the true beauty that is life. Stop only seeking the support and the people and events that are gentle on you, the real growth comes from where you lean into the challenge. How absolutely insane is this art work done by @paintingwithpeez
05.01.2022 Adaptogens you must have heard of them by now, and if you haven’t, let me tell you. One of nature’s amazing creations, which has been getting me through uni and mum life is definitely sure to get you interested in plant medicine. Plants have many actions on the body depending on the chemical profile, some plants have the ability to enhance the resistance of the human body under a wide range of stressful conditions. The special thing about adaptogens is that they are non-s...pecific, which means they assist the human body in resisting stresses no matter where they come from, environmental such as pollution, disease, physical such as chemical or biological, fatigue, infection, depression, ect. and aid in homeostasis of the body. Adaptogens also were defined as so, if they did not cause the usual side effects that stimulants often do, such as insomnia and excessive energy consumption. So adaptogens, adapt to your individual response to stress, reducing the possibility of reactions during the alarm phase and decreasing the onset of exhaustion phase. They do this mainly through affecting the HPA axis in response to stress. Just some herbs that are classed as adaptogens are Schisandra chinensis Rhodiola rosea Withania somnifera Panax ginseng I encourage you to speak to your herbalist / naturopath if you think adaptogens may benefit you.
04.01.2022 If you aren’t doing what sparks a light in you, start today, even if it’s just an hour a day, even if you don’t have a plan or if you have no idea how or when you’ll find a way to make it your life, do it anyway.
